Hey guys I Just wanted to give you a quick Heads Up: I worked with new Vehicles for some time now and wanted to say that on the newer Vehicles its Not Always the best Idea to Stick to the factory cable Runs. A high current can cause an induction current on Close cables. With all the ABS, Computers and so forth that are running and communicating on really small voltages and currents, that can mean the Computer gets false information and throws Codes that you cant solve. Or the ABS doesnt Work right. For newer Vehicles this information should be found in the Builder documentation.
Galv steel tray with a hardwood floor, a little sandpaper and a coat of the right decking oil/stain, led tail lights and a few other bits and you’ve got a sweet base to build on like mine
Perfect content to help me get through the boredom of Perth quarantine, hope you lads can keep up with similar content when the big rigs build is finished 🍻👌
Would have highly suggested sika flexing all the gaps below the tray on the RHS at what not, but over other than fully blasting and recoating came up pretty good 🤟
Coming together awesome 💪 I'll add to the suspension benefits that although it doesn't lift the diff, it does help your approach and departure angles 🙂 can't wait to see this on the tracks!!
Jocko is the best. No doubt. Jocko makes me want to buy a truck, put a tray on and run a 12volt setup with reduction gear on 35’s. Keep these episodes coming. Great work. 🍻
Yep, I also hope to see yous again at the Melbourne 4x4 show if your there, fingers crossed covid doesn't cancell it again cause I'd like to see yous again
22k for a truck that is ready for tracks is ok but still is crazy money !! Here in Greece to be able to spend that money you will have to work at least 3 years !!
Seeing your guys videos makes me want to put a flatbed(tray) on my frontier (d40) over here in the states. Seems so much more useful than my 5 foot bed. They only seem common for full size rigs over here.
I live in the states where I live in wv its common to pt a flat bed on everytruck do it you won't regret it look on Facebook you can pick up some second hand for around 700 bucks it dont have to be vehicle specific just needs the right dimensions and Fram line up mounts can be made or bought to fit
Looking good boys I just used tintable Raptor for the first time on pvc for my rod holder worked great although I got a different and cheaper gun to spray with the guy at the paint shop said it was better 🤷♂️ but it worked amazing looks great 🤙🙏🇦🇺
Check the welds on a DIY job too. I cocked up almost every weld when i was building my trailer in 2020 and just ground them down and repeated until it looked good. I drove it a few times but I couldn't get over the fact that i've made the metal brittle as fck from the heat. Probably cut it up and do over one day.
I have been watching 4WD24/7 for a couple years and notice they always have snorkels and want to know which one they prefer forward or read facing as I seen them use both
Can you guys do a video on how to help with buying a wagon? I just bought a 105 and just simple things like the power steering are leaking. I'm only 15 but it's just messed me up a bit. Just be helpful to others buying a wagon with what you guys have seen as simple problems. Cheers
What's the best way to make the aluminum canopy not oxidize or rust on a steel tray , is it b cause of the paint or are there zinc washers under the canopy ?
Please never mount a fire extinguisher in the foot well. The mount that holds the extinguisher isn’t very strong and in an accident they go flying. Have seen several vehicles have the fire extinguisher either under up on the dash or even go through the front windscreen in a roll over.
How come when I look for a 2" lift for my ranger the kit cost is $2000+ but when you guys lift something the parts cost is stated as being considerably less? Is it because kits come with unnecessary items?
The title actually says $5k for the tray, canopy & 12v (which includes the materials for Raptor coating the setup) - $7k covers that plus the lift kit!
Ha ha...."what's next for the big GU...well we're almost there"...after 23 yrs with my Maverick and now nearly 9yrs with the Dmax you are never ever almost there...there is always just that little (or big) thing that will help and needs to get done...nice setup on this one...keep it simple...just 1 question...how hot does the battery and chgr setup get behind the seat?...
Awesome video blokes thinking of chucking a similiar dual battery system in my Ute now seeing this. How did youse rate the apb canopy’s? I’m close to pulling the pin on one but keen on others opinions as I can’t view one in the flesh before buying
What does Australian law say about changing axles to something from a different vehicle? I'm from Colorado, USofA. In high school I helped a friend put in a 6-inch lift in a 84 Bronco 2 and used the axles from a 78 Chevy 2-ton.
It really depends on what else you're doing. Putting a 6" lift in any vehicle would require engineering check to make sure it's safe to be on the road.
@@calvingreene90 At least in South Aus, it's 2" of body / suspension lift and 2" of tyre size change (ie, 31 to 33" diametre) before you need to do engineering. Though as you can see from Jocko's Solid axle Hilux, with engineering you can do a lot more. I assume dually swapping a vehicle here would require engineering. BUT US axles, wheels and off road dually tyres are pretty rare here.
@@agentcrm For on road use he took the outside tires off or he would have had to build fender extensions. I suggested Mad Max style fenders but his mother nixed it. The joys of putting the car in the parents name for lower insurance; she could sell it.
Hey Joco, great content! Out of interest at 11:25 you measured the hight of the suspension, did you measure afterwards and did it yield the 2" you bought?
Bloody love it when Jock is on these kinds of episodes! He's so informative and such a character! Top episode blokes! Keep up the good work
You guys have to take Andy on a trip in the near future to see what this budget build can do.

We definitely can.

Jocko has developed into an excellent presenter and he's pretty good on the tools, as well. Look forward to seeing this GU out on the tracks.

Love the more affordable episodes/builds.
If it was my car I would definitely be looking at a 3 inch free flow exhaust.
In my humble opinion. You should cut the cracks with a 2.5mm cutting disk and then welding them. Stops the rust from coming back where the cracks are
This was my uncles old ute glad too see it coming up sweet as boys keep up the good work
There is some nice space in front and behind the rear wheels below the tray for some extra storage boxes to be built in....
This is great content and jocko is great at explaining the process and requirements ! great work
Prefer watching these shed builds over the big budget workshop stuff. Keep it up 👍
Wow that was mad! Sweet work there lads and good presenting, I think you’ve found your calling there.

It's so nice to have room to work on a project car, plus the gear and mates with skills to help.

Nice work Jocko. thanks.
Is there any concern about water getting to that charger setup in the cab?
great to see you putting out more content on the channel Jock...
Outstanding episode!!!! Need a bit of this in between time. Lol

I would love to get a bracket for my fire extinguisher, where can I buy one?
If you stand back a bit. And use a small circular motion on your final coat you wont get that streaky patchy finish on your raptor.
