This was a great video. I started years ago thrifting for my vintage Christmas ornaments. I also thrift for my Christmas gifts. My family and friends get excited when they receive them.
I'm glad I came across this video. I really enjoyed it. WE do thrifted gifts. My favorite one ever was when our daughter was little. I bought a fancy dress and hemmed it to my daughter's length. She adored it and used it for dress up for several years until she outgrew it. The bread plate you got your friend looks just like one I received for a gift 43 years ago, so it is possibly quite an old piece.
Was that the Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread piece? It was my favorite of the vlog. LOVED it, and as I said elsewhere, I would have bought it for myself.
I love this so much!!! I grew up thrifting and going to garage sales, not only do you save money but you find the COOLEST stuff that you could never find new in the store. One year we did a "garage sale christmas" and it went amazing, I found a brand new Victoria's Secret necklace that I gave to my secret santa! It might sound silly but shopping secondhand also always leads us to the things we really need. Definitely one of the benefits of growing up with limited means.
The mug at 16:14 could also be gifted to someone who loves to paint. It would look really cute with some paint brushes in it and a pad of paper and paints to go along with it

I gasped at the giant embroidery hoop you left behind at one thrift store. I sure wish someone would gift that as a gift for me! lol Two friends and I thrift for each other all year round. Just send it when the postage won't wrinkle your weekly budget." We text the tracking number when a box is en route. I also thrift for the oldest daughter of each friend. We know what each other collects, our hobbies, and shoe and shirt sizes and tastes. I have another friend who sews a lot of baby clothes for all the babies always being born in her big, extended Catholic family. She knows what kind of vintage fabric to look for for me when thrifting (including buying an old garment or sheet to cut down for fabric), and I know what laces and trims to source secondhand for her. Also, my mother and I happily exchange secondhand gifts. We both have a list of what the other is keeping an eye out for so we'll know what to spot while thrifting, yardsaling, etc. I have 2 aunts I'll thrift for toward collections but not otherwise. And, I raised my son to know the power of buying secondhand books. He'd rather have a stack of used books than 1 new one. This is as true at 26 as it was when he was 6!

I love thifting for gifts.
I was taught to be thankful and appreciative for any gift given. Its silly to insist on unused items as gifts.
I would not buy gifts at thrift stores. I do buy gifts at Consignment stores on occasion.
It’s a personal preference for sure! I love that both options are out there!
how wide is your mom's stocking that will open for a book?
@@Lark_Vivian our stockings are giant, like a traders joes bag even!
I was told once if you have to give a second hand gift don't give it at all as you can't afford it. That stayed with me all my life.
It’s definitely not for everyone.
I will say I think times are definitely changing though. There is a growing movement of people who are concerned about over-consumption, climate change and pollution and those people will always be excited for secondhand gifts. It’s not about budget as much as it is about not contributing to the concerns stated above. 🤎
I find lots of brand new items. Also so many items that are barely used & people can’t tell it’s from a thrift store.
@@ThecasamaganaId much rather have a quality vintage or second hand item than something brand new and cheap made with bad materials
Ah i saw my dishes in this video. I got the plates and bowls second hand at 2 different shops. Looking for more to complete my set!
Sometimes we need to “unlearn” things we’ve been taught.
Why don't you reuse paper bags, cloth or get reusable bags for wrapping xmas presents. Everyone in my family knows the reusable bags come back to us every year.
@@vickyhendriks5226 my family does this too! We always keep a big laundry box in the middle of the room, and everyone puts the reusable wrapping paper back in there for it to get refused the following year! It’s such a good practice
Hopefully none of your family + friends watch this before christmas 0_0
@@BrittneyLarko most of them don’t watch my channel since they are so apart of my life but if they do that’s okay! Especially since for a few of them I asked some questions about what kind of gifts they would enjoy this year!
I guess this works if other people are giving you thrifted gifts too…
Otherwise, they are buying a new gift in exchange for a used gift?
I’m not doing any gift exchanges, just finding gifts to give my family and friends this year. When my family does gift exchanges we usually draw a name and buy a new gift!
I think it’s literally no different than just finding these items on a really good sale.
How old are you?!
@@shanndf I’m 27!
@Thecasamagana I'm sure you get that question a lot. Amazing.
Give the shoes to your mom. You won't regret it. I'm running out of time with my parents. We are all running out of time ⏲️
