I've gotten a perfume bottle from the 1940s for my youngest daughter, 8.00. @@jenwylie4093 Thanks for sharing this. I can see how things have changed over the years. There is so much excess and because of that we can be more picky about what we like and what we keep. New subscriber here. I do enjoy thrifting & depending on the recipient's willingness to receive thrifted gifts, I do think it's absolutely fine to give them. Such gifts aren't everyone's choice so you must be aware. I love to receive thrifted items as gifts. You can really find some treasure's while thrifting!
I'm fortunate that most of my family and friends are happy with thrifted gifts. We have a tiny gift budget, so buying this way means I can get something much nicer for my budget than if I were buying new - and if I find something under budget for one recipient, I can either stretch the budget for another, harder-to-buy-for person or just save the difference!
I found a mouth blown tiered Christmas Tree glass candy dish from Williams Sonoma, never used, packaged in it’s original box. So I went to Williams Sonoma to buy ‘name brand’ candy for it and the candy cost me almost as much as I paid for the dish🤣!!!! Oh well. My brother and his husband will love it…they are BOUGIE!!!!

I give food and gift cards. (Years ago we gave food and postage stamps to the elderly). Watch your cart! Last week, a shopper lifted a great find out of my cart in Phoenix. Theft was a big problem in Minnesota thrift stores when I lived there years ago. Cover the treasures in your cart with a big bath towel.

When I was pregnant, the lady at my local thrift shop told me they got tons of baby stuff new with tags so I should check in often.
@@jenwylie4093
Thanks for sharing this. I can see how things have changed over the years. There is so much excess and because of that we can be more picky about what we like and what we keep. I think a lot of times new things get donated just because people have too much or it’s not their style.
You are totally right that thrifting is not the same as when we were kids!
😁👍🏼💛

The Mr. Clean magic erasers take the sticky stuff left behind from price labels. Just wet it and rub it on the spot.
@@sandrahubard251
Sandra, I love magic erasers, but I’ve never heard of using them for this. Thanks so much for sharing!! 😁
never heard of that! thanks for the tip!
Your hair drier will also remove glue residue from a lot of things. I scratched a plastic piece with my Magic eraser so am much more cautious about using it on a lot of different plastics.
@craftingforalmosteveryone
Good advise! I love magic erasers for non-porous surfaces, especially dishes, but I have heard a lot about it removing paint and damaging surfaces. Those things are powerful!! 😳
Thanks for the tip! 💛
I've had magic erasers remove the sheen from plastics. Instead, use Goo Gone, oil, or a hair dryer.
I would love to be the recipient of something thrifted - like a beautiful Pyrex bowl or a delicate china cup and saucer. I would absolutely give a thrifted gift if I found just the right item for just the right person. I do put Christmas gifts into thrifted baskets and boxes.

@ I really enjoyed your video. You had spent time thinking about the right gift for the right person and was able to share your experience with us. Excellent finds! I don’t have many thrift stores close by but I do believe in donating and purchasing from thrift stores. I am currently decluttering my house and I take my donate boxes to my favorite thrift store and the owner lets me pick out a piece or two of glassware. She is definitely getting the better deal, but I am getting rid of my stuff and she is getting something to sell and I am adding to my collection of glassware that someday my sons will throw away, but in the meantime, I enjoy. Merry Christmas.!

First, I live in a smallish town and we do have three decent thrift stores, but often I head out to some of the bigger towns over an hour away.
