I saw the original cast of Miss Saigon at Drury Lane many times❤ I was also in the front row of the stalls for Hey! Mr Producer at The Lyceum Theatre in 1998 🤗
I love the transformation fo Lea's Miss Saigon.. from the original u can really see the innocence in her eyes.. and here..its much more different.. the way she looks at Cris..amazing.. performance!
If I remember, David had been playing Marius in Australia and Sir Cameron asked him to be a part of the concert. Also another reason why he was playing Chris was that he Auditioned for it in Australia but was told he looked too young for the part, but Sir Cameron decided to have him play it in the concert. These are to reasons I have heard
Its funny then that later on Lea turns into Eponine for the Les Mis portion And tho we have Michael Ball Marius there, still from being with a Marius (with a tragic ending) to pining (with a tragic ending)
@lasktguy There's been some talk of a Miss Saigon movie. But it's gotten buried beneath all the news of Tom Hooper's Les Miz movie that's due out in 2013. It's a shame. I love Les Miserables, but I would really really love to see Miss Saigon on the big screen. It was my first musical, so I have a huge soft spot for it.
She had good chemistry with this guy (David Campbell), especially since they only met to work on this special concert for Cameron Macintosh AND he had never played Chris before. (He was in Les Miserables at this time, I think.) I find it hard to pick a favorite Chris between Simon Bowman and Will Chase.
@DaphneLovesSinging I know. I was sad about that too. T_T Unfortunately for this performance, they were trying to double as many roles as they could (I don't know why, but they were.) David Campbell was already in the Martin Guerre number and I THINK the Les Miserables number, so they probably went ahead and used him when Simon Bowman had a scheduling conflict or something.
@bryanraphael It depends on the musical, really. If it's something like Cats, Seussical, the stage version of Beauty and the Beast, or the stage version of The Lion King, then yeah, it would be a stupid idea because it would look stupid adapted into a movie. On the other hand, a musical like Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, or Miss Saigon, if given the right cast and setting, it would look really nice as a movie and would draw in more fans, though the Phantom movie was so so
Lea played Eponine for Les Miz in the Les Miz 10th anniversary concert in 1995 and also in this concert for Cameron Macintosh (1998). They are both fantastic performances. The biggest difference between them was that Lea had more makeup on in one of them (I think the 10th anniversary concert).
I find all the lyric changes funny. I thought there was a recording somewhere of The Heat Is On In Saigon where they say "One of these b*tches will be Miss Saigon"

Lea is so awesome!! I love her! She's got such beautiful voice. She's the only Kim for me. The best Kim of all time!! ^__^

Same here I’m doing a musical theatre concert at my new house in Monday 31 of January
That Chris has the cutest smile!!
Love David Campbell in this. He looks so young!

Amazing!! I thought when I saw him: "He has a Marius-vibe!" 😲

If you have not heard of David Campbell you will he is a very talented man
I love that there’s a point where Lea’s veil slides off and it wraps around her neck like a long fancy, pink scarf, it’s a cute moment!
Aww he is giving me a John Smith kinda vibe😍 david campbell was so dreamy
Lea's so amazing.
I get goosebumps EVERY time!!!

@TTko4KKmo Yes! And bring it back to Broadway too!
Heck...I want it made into a movie, but it wouldn't be the same without Lea Salonga in it. T_T
David Campbell beats Simon Bowman any day... He's fabulous! Have you seen the clip of him singing Martin Guerre from this concert? It's amazing...
Great singer, but the tender chemistry with Lea in Last Night of the World...? Watch the Simon Bowman version.
It's getting a London revival in 2013.
Which was amazing.

oh yea david campbell is cute :) hihi...lea is as always amazing :)
Is this the same concert where Lea Salonga played Eponine for Les Miz?
TofiLuk27 Yes aside from Cosette and Thénardier's it was a 10th Anniversary reunion
What's the first one she performed? This one from Miss Saigon or Or my own?
tomgallowitz and Enjolras
This is like a tribute concert for Cameron Mackintosh (producer of Les Miz and Miss Saigon).

I prefer Simon Bowman's version.
JayRed Simon Bowman was the best in my opinion. Such onstage chemistry.
@rikkulockhart15 really? I always thought that making a musical into movie is stupid idea
David Campbell.
it says "on the other side of the ear",lol
the actor playing chris is?
dkgilmorejunkie David Campbell
I find all the lyric changes funny. I thought there was a recording somewhere of The Heat Is On In Saigon where they say "One of these b*tches will be Miss Saigon"
he is the hottest Chris ever =))
Why is it not Simon Bowman?!? >.<
well........ this is not bad tho

He's awesome in this! Puts that high, nasally Simon Bowman to shame.

@CancerousPiesRTasty LMAO
I like him better than simon Bowman
