*goosebumps* the end of this song gets me everytime. and i am so impressed that Elaine can still hit notes that high and strong at her age. *happy sigh*
Hmm, did I see a brief glance of Michael Grube as Munkus? Elain Paige of course, was it Rosemarie Ford as Bomba? I couldn't tell. Was an interesting way of mixing up the medly. Especially Jellicle Songs For Jellicle Cats. Having Tugger at the top, singing so much of it was nice because you get to see more of him, but it does kind of undermine Munku's authority. Was brilliant to hear and see Brian Blessed as Old Duteronomy though, have only heard him on the OLC previously.
Heh, spotted Bryn straight away, he's got such a distinctive lanky body. Avea's giving it some in the dance department, that's nice to see. I couldn't really spot many of the other video cast, apart from Rosalie and Elaine obviously, and I think that's Geoff as skimble? Tumblebrutus looks a lot like Drew Varley at one point, but I don't know. And Brian Blessed as old D? Legendary! Thanks for the upload.
@rikkulockhart15 this is not john partridge. it's paul nicholas who played tugger at the world premiere in london as well as elaine paige (grizabella) and brian blessed (old deuteronomy)... rest is the west end cast from 1998...;-)
Elaine Paige will always tug a few of my heart strings when she sings Memory :') BUT WHERE'S MY MISTO?? OAO Tugger here was pretty good but I still prefer John Partridge to play Tugger.. he had more swag.. I actually kinda prefer if they had separate cats singing Jellicle Cats.. But I guess this was kinda cool too.. :)
When I was 14 I used to want to grow up to be in Cats. Turns out I can't quite dance like that >.> and I watched it so many times on video that now I'm sick of memory
I have to say that THAT keychange at the end has to be the best that EP has ever nailed it imo - I actually found myself gasp when I heard it... Jemima isn't great, but she'snot bad...
At first I HATED the girl who played Jemima in this one because I've only seen the video (sigh) BUt after watching it a bunch of times I love her. She's awsome.
Legally only Elaine Page should be the only one allowed to sing memory- no one else does as well as her- though I am also fond of the Betty Buckley rendition! (Cats is one of my guilty pleasures-I was the only one in my family who paid attention to the entire thing when we wathed the tape...)
I think I see Elaine Page as Grizabella and John Partridge as Rum Tum Tugger, which is a bit of a bummer since I kinda wanted to hear Lea Salonga sing Memory and see Terrence Mann in the furry suit, but oh well. Maybe the Broadway and West End cast were all busy so they had to use the video cast (not that I mind...they're all GREAT!)
it's a concert honoring Cam McKintosh, I think? I have d/l links for the entire concert if anyone needs it...though I'm sure someone has uploaded the concert on youtube by now! =)
I love Cats, however I have always wonder why the wigs are so small, they look very funny I saw long time ago the Mexican production of Cats, the hair length in their wigs was like twice the size from this ones they looked really, really nice.
it took me three years and the original version (english, i heard it in danish first) to learn to like and eventually love Les Mis, so perhaps in 30 years ill finally se what the big thing about cats is...its okay but i cant find that fab. thing about it that everybody else can
the reason y some of them look different to the vid is becuase in the video the toned down the make up but here is the stage make up with harder lines and stuff for the audience benifit
yes,of course chrissy hammond is also a good one and may be one of the bests. but it is elaine's interpretation that is made immortal. there will always be better grizabellas than elaine but there will always be the first grizabella. :) just expressing my opinion...
I'm so incredibly late, but who is this Jemima? Around this time it would have been Sandra Kater or Veerle from the movie (minus the voiceover), right?
Ah! Why did they change Rum Tug Tugger?! John Partridge is so much better than that guy. But I love how they kept some of the video cast in. I feel like watching this video now.
Bruh they picked some wack keys for these songs. Like Jellicle songs started out half a step lower, but ended half a step higher than it typically does.
I saw Cats in New York City. My comment has the goal to share an up building message full of hope. Jehovah God promises that those who have died will live again in Isaiah 26:19: "Your dead will live. My corpses will rise. Wake up and shout for joy, residents of the dust! For your dew is like the morning dew, and the earth will let those who are powerless in death live again." He will bring them back to life; that is the hope of the resurrection. Have a super great peaceful day!
11 years after becoming OBSESSED with Cats, and watching the movie thousands of times...and I'm still madly in love with Jo Gibb ❤
YES
Me, too. She's the best Rumpleteazer ever!!!
Brian Blessed ...the legend ...the original Old Deuteronomy ...I just love this man!
Oh man your comment is 13 years old. I was just 12 back then. Now Im in my mid twenties.
Spettacolo unico.Un saggio di arte,professionalità,bellezza.
*goosebumps* the end of this song gets me everytime. and i am so impressed that Elaine can still hit notes that high and strong at her age. *happy sigh*
Wonderfull job jellicle brothers ansisters
I love Paul Nicholas, Brian Blessed, Elaine Paige, and Kimberly Partridge.
The choreography is undoubtedly the best aspect of CATS, but this was enjoyable.
most of the film cast members that are in this performance have been performing in the West End production in 1998.
Oh man, your comment is 8 years old.
I love this Jemima.
Sjazzmean me too.
Hmm, did I see a brief glance of Michael Grube as Munkus? Elain Paige of course, was it Rosemarie Ford as Bomba? I couldn't tell. Was an interesting way of mixing up the medly. ohhh thanks for posting, i love Elaine Paige, she always makes me feel creeps but every time she sings memory y cry like a little baby.
I love how miss paige does the whole 'Look.... a new day...' Love it such emotion
I Love the European cast!!!!!!
How I missed this play!
Heh, spotted Bryn straight away, he's got such a distinctive lanky body. Avea's giving it some in the dance department, that's nice to see. I love this I have bin to cats 37 times
stunning... just stunning.
It's Paul Nicholas. He was the original Tugger in London.
This was fantastic! And YES!!! Finally get to see George, and his fine self! Well George-Bailey, but he'll always be George to me.
Like, I swear I saw Jo Gibb ad Geof Grant
@rikkulockhart15

I am so happy you posted this. I've always wanted to see this video! THANK YOU!
Kimberley Partridge IS the best Jemima. Ever! I loved her interpretation in London.
Elaine Paige will always tug a few of my heart strings when she sings Memory :')
BUT WHERE'S MY MISTO?? OAO
Tugger here was pretty good but I still prefer John Partridge to play Tugger.. he had more swag..
I actually kinda prefer if they had separate cats singing Jellicle Cats.. But I guess this was kinda cool too.. :)
I have been looking for soo long... and here it is! THANKS!!!
Jemima was played by Kimberley Partridge here.
amazin love it soooo much! iv looked for this on the net for years! :)
Gave me Chills on Memory
Grizabella,Electra,Coricopat,Asparagus,Bombalurina,Demeter,Skimbleshanks are all played by the same person in this and dvd
Old Deuteronomy is normally played by Ken Page, but in the Hey Mr Producer clip here he was played by Brian Blessed
Elaine is just perfect!
Bombalurina is actually played by the actress who played Cassandra in the Vid.
8:32 Eliane never fails at this belt
GAH! Brian Blessed!
ah, I so desperately want to see Cats live but it's not on any more... :'(
I see Rosemarie Ford!!!! :D
That's because he is the Original London rum Tum Tugger as well as the original Old Dueteronomy & Grizabella.
Hey Mr Producer! was a West End one-off tribute night to the musicals of producer Cameron Macintosh
Wow! That's awesome!
It is Rosemarie.
Yes, he is.

@chrissi2810 Ah okay. Thanks for correcting me on those two. I knew for sure about Elaine Paige but not about the other two.
GORDON'S ALIVEEE!!!!
No... It's not Rosemarie Ford, it's Rebecca Parker (Cassandra from the video) as Bombalurina.
Kimberley Partridge
it is rosmarie!!
it's a concert honoring Cam McKintosh, I think? I have d/l links for the entire concert if anyone needs it...though I'm sure someone has uploaded the concert on youtube by now! =)
I think they wanted to use as much as the original london cast as possible so that is why they used Paul Nicholas.
I realy Liked rosemarie as Bombalurina!
Yep!Elaine Paige is definitely the definitive Grizabella.
Pretty good but I still like the video :o I'm also having trouble finding Pouncival... x3
'dat "look!"
Bombalurina is played by Rosemary Ford
well hey mr producer if you pay attiention to most of the videos they are andrew loyd webber musicals.and all but two are from the video
WOW THANKS :)
I thought it was Helen Way as Bombalurina and Becca Parker was Tantomile?
I love Cats, however I have always wonder why the wigs are so small, they look very funny I saw long time ago the Mexican production of Cats, the hair length in their wigs was like twice the size from this ones they looked really, really nice.
Ken Page was Deut in the DVD version, not Brian Blessed.
Glad you liked it!:)
Is Bryn Walters (Plot) in this? I think I saw him.
That's because Paul Nicholas, the guy playing Tugger there was like, 50-something. He was WAY better looking when he was younger
geoffrey garratt is there !!
I know Blessed is Old D.
Oh wow cool. Which ones?
I see (from the movie version) Bombalurina, Rumpleteazer, Skimbleshanks, Alonzo, Mistofolees, Pouncival, and Demeter. Am I woring?
it took me three years and the original version (english, i heard it in danish first) to learn to like and eventually love Les Mis, so perhaps in 30 years ill finally se what the big thing about cats is...its okay but i cant find that fab. thing about it that everybody else can
it is geoff garret..:)
And Jemima was fine, I like the Movie actors tone better, but this actor's voice suits Jemimas age :)
You do realize the movie actor's voice was dubbed with a completely different singer, right?
Is Skimbleshanks Geoffrey Grant in this? And is Cassandra Rebecca Parker?
Awsome! Elain Paige! Hey, doesn't the rum tum tugger look a bit old for the part?
@musicaltwin101 its the original cast.... i think they are older ...
And McJagger was the inspiration.
is that michael gruber as munkustrap??!
Because Tommi Sliiden. That's why.
No theres alot of Film cast here too!
the reason y some of them look different to the vid is becuase in the video the toned down the make up but here is the stage make up with harder lines and stuff for the audience benifit
Elaine paige is the best!!!

Is Skimbleshanks Geoffrey Grant in this?
she the first one i was sure of soo i guess it is just you =]
WHAT DID THEY DO TO MY TWO FAVORITES?!?!?
Jemima lost the maturity and innocence I loved in her and I can't even see Quaxo!
Sorry, am I shrooming is that Brian Blessed??
Ah! Why did they change Rum Tug Tugger?! John Partridge is so much better than that guy. But I love how they kept some of the video cast in. I feel like watching this video now.
Who is playing Rum Tum Tugger?
Do you know who is playing her? I can't tell for sure.
WAY too less skimble...
But anyways, thanks for uploading ^-^
YAY skimbleshanks elaine page(grizza)! I wasn't very impressed with the jemima though :p.
Bruh they picked some wack keys for these songs. Like Jellicle songs started out half a step lower, but ended half a step higher than it typically does.
elaine will always be the best grizabella...
I saw Cats in New York City.
