Imagine Elvis Presley walking through a mall or something. I'm sure he was aware that that would not be the most prudent thing to do, even back then. Sonny West was a true friend of Elvis. He would take a bullet for his boss for sure. Sonny was also a true badas. Few men would come out on top if your opponent was Sonny West.
The story about Red and Sonny writing a tell-all book that's full of B.S. 1/2 truths and some flat-out lies . There were some hard truths, but sadly, it was a money grubbing revenge book . They wrote it after Elvis let them go./fired them...
One of the first and best documentaries in my personal and humble opinion is - it fully won me over as a child (yes, it is here on TH-cam but it is long and you are going to have to figure out how to best enjoy it due to its duration - it was/is a series on VHS - on TH-cam they have been edited/spliced together - and it’s over five hours long) it features Sonny West, Red West, Marty Lacker, Lamar Fike, and his cousin Billy Smith called “All The Kings Men” - while Thea guys have taken a lot of flack - the truth is that they all had hearts of gold and stuck by Elvis Presley through it all. They too were concerned abt his health and did what they could with what they had. They loved him until the day he died and continued loving him after their own lives came to an end. Billy Smith is the last surviving member in that group. I hope you both can carve out some time to watch it, enjoy it, and soak it up as I have. It is truly a treasure. 😊
I disagree - I’d also recommend looking at candid photos and videos of him - There is one in particular I am thinking of - 1957 or 1958 of him at the wheel driving himself and his friends into the Graceland Gates. I think it was abt timing and mood for him. When it came to phone calls - he was perfectly capable - I’d recommend listening to the phone call between him and Red West. I’d also listen to his “drug rant” in Vegas in the 1970s - hence - he took karate and although he had body guards as he should, he was perfectly capable of defending himself. Ps. A fun fact: his karate name was “Tiger” - now if you go back and listen to a song called “Tiger man” it will bring on a new difference entirely! ❤
@@SuspiciousMinds65 incorrect. Simply look at canidid photos of him. He went out, even though it was rare. Ps. Been a fan of Elvis Presley since the age of 2 or 3 - been studying him starting around the age of 5-7 years old. You should look for the Elvis documentary called " All the King's Men "... The Memphis Mafia got back together in 1992 for an interview session and They told stories about Elvis that they had never shared before... During this 1992 interview Billy smith who is Elvis's 1st cousin and a Memphis Mafia member told a story that I think would probably the funniest thing that I ever heard... Billy said it was during their drinking days and when Elvis and the gang went to sea Johnnie Rays concert... I'm not going to mention the rest and I would urge you to see the video and watch Billy tell the rest of the story... It's hilarious...
You guys are fantastic..have some Elvis stuff for you..to see love to hear you guys react to Elvis stories and the Songs that Elvis made famous it's great stuff..my favorite song is Hurt live and favorite story was Elvis giving a car to a woman just looking at a cadillac he gave it to her..walked away
If you guys wanna hear a funny Elvis story then you need to find a clip of Alice Cooper talking about the first time he met Elvis. It's pretty dang amusing.
It’s a great story but probably so true of many of the biggest names in show business. They don’t need to do anything for themselves. That is scary when you think about it.
Would you consider ‘Elvis opening night at the international hotel 1970. He was so nervous’ it’s just a fascinating backstage look. There are other similar videos (all have slightly different footage) but this one is good quality! 🙂

This guy first wrote an awfull book about Elvis (together with his cousin Red West and his friend Dave Hebler). Elvis was sick about this book. He died only a few days later. And after Elvis was dead this guy was making money with the „friend storys“ from Elvis. No, you are not a friend! Go to hell! I‘m waiting for Lisas book. Tom Jones told an Elvis story on Conan. Tom and Elvis were good friends. They both had shows in Vegas. Tom was taking a shower in his hotel room. In walks Elvis and his bodyguard and they go into the bathroom. He starts talking to Tom while he's in the shower. Then while in the shower Elvis proceeds to take a dump while still talking to Tom. LOL.
After Elvis died, Tom told a lot of stories and I believe he was not the friend he pretended to be. He was an opportunist like so many people in Elvis' life who just used him. I heard him make other remarks during his concerts after Elvis died that were mean-spirited and disrespectful. He was jealous of the King's lasting fame and fans.
@@bertsplci Sure, when Elvis was alive. After he died, Tom was a pretty bad friend telling some very horrible stories, like the one mentioned above. Very uncool, however you feel about it.
@@jennyjorgensen9935 Tom tolerated Elvis. Elvis was very jealous of Tom. Elvis would never follow Tom on the stage because Elvis knew he could get the women to react to him the same way Tom could on stage.
Sonny West was not a nice person at the end of Elvis life. I will never watch anything he is in. He got mad at Elvis when he was let go and wrote a horrible book along with his cousin. The reason Elvis let them go was because they were making trouble for him and talking about him
Elvis had biggest heart and he cares really

I love to hear anything about Elvis because its always interesting and funny. thank you
Great story, especially because it's true.
Him getting in cab at the Hilton with Jerry is so funny too. Jerry tells that story on a video.
Loved that story told by Sonny West!

Another funny Elvis story was told on the Graham Norton show (UK) with Liza Minnelli and Alice Cooper concerning Elvis Karate tactics in Las Vegas. 😊
That’s one of my favorite stories, too.
Love love that story ! The poor man became a prisoner in his own home eventually ! Rip sweet elvis ! Thank you Susie and Travis !😊❤
They kept him prisoner by doing everything for him. I love Elvis for giving the driver $100 when he must have been frustrated, though.
