    Thank you for taking the time to put this video together. Not many comparison videos out there for the Noco chargers 🔌.
    I bought the Genius 10. Here’s why for me. 1 this might be petty but I prefer that the wires all come out on one side. 2 I push my car batteries to the limit of life cycle. Having a good charger to extend batteries its already paid for itself. 3 Ive always found company flagship models are often closer to the original aspersion, design and build quality engineering that the designers originally intended. Ie components used build quality thicker cables as more room in the box, reliability and software management. Rather than having to cut corners to reduce cost to get a sail. I could be wrong but that’s what’s in the back of my mind when I bought this.

    I use my NOCO Genius 1 Outdoors in my Driveway.
    I attached an extension cord from my home Weather Proof exterior Outlet with Rain Proof Cover to the underside of my F-150 up onto the engine block.
    I then attach the NOCO Genius 1 to the Battery and plug it into the extension cord, adjust the NOCO settings and close the hood.

    Thank you for taking the time to do a review on the different Noco chargers.
    Will the Noco 1 that’s a 1amp charger be a safer charger to use on my small (12v - 18Ah) generator battery as oppose to the Noco 10 charger with 10amps?
    I was told for small motorcycle/generator battery it’s best to use a smaller amp charger because a higher amp charger will charge a small battery too fast causing it to have a lessor life span. What is your thought on that theory?
    Thanks again for your video.
    Ed

    • @edcardiy
      @edcardiy  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The NOCO 1 & 10 are both safe for charging a battery, The higher the amperage, the faster it charge. The bigger Ah on battery, it needs bigger Amps on charger to charge it faster. For your 12V-18Ah battery, the NOCO Genius 1 is good enough for indoor charging, for outdoor charging get the Genius 2, because it's waterproof.
      The NOCO chargers are smart chargers that monitors and controls the amount of charge the the battery needs and prevents it from damage.

  • @WriterandPhotographer
    @WriterandPhotographer 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

    One thing I can say about the Genius 1 after returning two of them is that they should not be advertised as a charger for a car; maybe just a maintainer/trickle charger. I connected my OBD II scanner to both of my cars and ran a battery test and tested the charging systems on both and both batteries were in excellent condition (both less than two years old) and the charging systems tested as functioning very well. Then, I attempted to top up each battery, letting both charge for 96 hours. (Noco says 52 hours is tops for charging the average car battery) Both chargers only blinked red for the whole time. This 1 amp charger just doesn't cut it for the type of battery found in most newer cars. I went back and forth with their support; but this is basically what they admitted to. So, they should not really be selling the Genius 1 as a charger for practical reasons, especially if the charge in the battery is low. The 5 should be the base for most modern cars when actual charging of a more depleted battery is concerned. The 10 is probably the best recommendation as Ed says. I was disappointed that the 1 really doesn't cut it for car batteries.

      Thanks for the comment, In my opinion, If you have multiple car batteries to charge and maintain, go for the Genius 10, If you're going maintain car battery only during winter storage, I would go for the Genius 2 (less power) or Genius 5 (little bit more power, with repair mode).
      But If I have that Porsche 996, I will buy the Genius 5 (just my opinion). Check out my NOCO affiliate links on my video.

      Sorry but any one of the chargers, Genius 5 or 10 is not capable of charging your battery because of 48V, These chargers are only for 12V car batteries.
      You can buy the 48V charger from Amazon, But you to make sure you got the right plug to charge your golf cart.

    I’ve read reviews of people using the one amp for charging deep cycle batteries.how long would it take?

    • @edcardiy
      @edcardiy  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      drakejdf, The NOCO genius 1 is good for maintaining car batteries that are in storage or not driven regularly, For example If you want to use the Genius 1 to charge a dead battery that is an 80Ah battery it will take 60hrs to completely charge the battery.
      The higher the Amp Hour on the battery the longer it will take to fully charge the battery.
      If you want faster charging, Get the Genius 5 or Genius 10.

    • @edcardiy
      @edcardiy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      E Phillips, I've just transferred the same info from the NOCO website and it's also not mentioned there. The 12V power supply is to power up any thing in your garage that requires 12V power, It's not an inverter it's a power supply.

    I bought the NOCO Genius 5 for my 12V motorcycle battery which is lithium ion phosphate. The Genius 5 does LiFePO. But people on the motorcycle forum I'm on are saying the battery should only be charged at 1V or it could reduce the life of the battery, but this seems really low. What do you think?

    • @edcardiy
      @edcardiy  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Noco Genius 5 do charge the Lithium battery, but that battery must have a battery management system, if not it could damage the actual battery. Charging the battery with 1 Volt maybe a good idea since the voltage is pretty low and not aggressive like a higher voltage, But the only thing is that the charging time would be very long to get it to full charge.

    If I were to permanently install the Genius 2D, is there any issue if I later want to recharge the battery using a stronger / faster battery charger and do so while leaving the NOBO connected to the battery (but disconnected from AC Power), or does the NOCO battery cables need to be removed before trying to charge the battery with another charger?

    • @edcardiy
      @edcardiy  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's better to disconnect another charger before using another stronger charger, You don't want to get the stronger charger get confused because it's sensing another circuit into the mix. Better connect 1 charger a time, for an accurate charging of your battery (just my opinion).

    Not sure why there is so much debate over which model to get for just battery maintenance during storage. Just get the Genius1, or the Genius2 if using outdoors. According to the Noco website, all the Genius models follow a similar process and use less than 1 amp during the various steps in the maintenance cycle. The only need for the larger models is to charge a drained car battery faster or run the repair mode. You can charge a car battery even with the Genius1, it just takes a lot longer, maybe three days.

    • @WriterandPhotographer
      @WriterandPhotographer 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

    So if I have a marine battery that is 114amp hour… is the NOCO genius 2 capable of charging it even though it is “up to 40 amp hours”? Seems like the answer would be “no” but I don’t know really anything about what it all means.

    • @edcardiy
      @edcardiy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Jonathan Grandt, The NOCO Genius 2 is a 40Ah battery charger, capable of charging a 40Ah battery for 15hrs, According to NOCO spec. But if charging a 114Ah marine battery, it will take about 50 to 60 hours to fully charge a dead 114Ah battery.
      That is why the Genius 2 is mainly used for maintaining battery.

    Do you know what the difference is between the
    The Genius 10 and the
    Genius 10X1 ?

    • @edcardiy
      @edcardiy  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      newjazzmusic7078, The GenPro 10x1(amzn.to/3qOpDKp) is an on board charger, it's basically the same as Genius 10 (amzn.to/3NePnXS) , except it's on board and does not come with clamps.
      Hope this helps you and please check out my Amazon link.

      Glenn Uresk, This charger is excellent, it can charge your battery outside up to -4°F to 104° F. I think you should have no problem on charging your battery outdoor.

    How long do you think it would take for the Noco genius 2 to charge a regular 12 V battery from dead to full

    • @edcardiy
      @edcardiy  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It all depends on how much Ah (Amp Hour) the battery have, The higher the Ah value, the longer it takes to charge the battery.

    Whats the difference with genius10 and GB 40? Can u use the genius models to jump start as well???

    • @edcardiy
      @edcardiy  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Genius 10 is a charger, GB 40 is a jumpstarter, All Genius models are chargers, they can't jumpstart a dead battery on the car.

    why do you say that the 5A has repair mode and the 10A has that as the only ?

    • @edcardiy
      @edcardiy  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Both Genius 5 & 10 have the dedicated repair mode option, Which the Genius 1 & 2 doesn't have, they can desulfate only.

    Excellent informative video. My question is, can the NOCO Genius 10 be taken as a jumper unit in my car? I accidentally left my headlights on on my 2009 Toyota Camry several weeks ago draining the battery and a neighbor saw my wife come over to try and help me jump my battery with her Toyota Prius and he told us to wait a minute and he came back with a NOCO something-or-other battery jumper ... but, was it also a charger? I don't remember. But what I DID know was that his NOCO was capable of jumping batteries and it looked like a self-contained unit. It looked like it was somewhat similar in size to the NOCO genius 10, but I can see that the NOCO genius 10 has what looks like a dedicated power cord for plugging into a wall socket, whereas my neighbor's NOCO genius (if it WAS a genius) was compact and specifically designed for jumping batteries. He also said that his NOCO cost around $300.00. My wife didn't want to spend that kind of money, and, granted, we don't have a lot of money to throw around, but in my mind, it's probably a life and money-saver, becuase then we aren't at the mercy of Triple-AAA or some other roadside service (unless we need a tow), or at the mercy of a passerby or even of criminally-minded folks who would put our lives at risk, just for a little help that we can do for ourselves if we choose/chose to spend that extra money for peace of mind.

    NOCO is garbage. Tells me my battery is charged but its not. When I hook it back up it takes hours to charge only to die after 2 starts. GARBAGE ! ! !

    • @edcardiy
      @edcardiy  26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Try testing your battery, Probably it's defective why it's not holding the charge.

    I have the Genius 5, connected it to my 3 month battery that died. I left the charger on for over 9 hours and the battery would not even light the cabin light in my truck.
    I brought the battery back to the store and their tester said if had 7.5 volts. I left the battery there for 2 hours and they were doing a slow charge on it and they brought the battery up to 70%.
    I decided I wanted the battery replaced which they did. I am NOT impressed with the NOCO 5.

    • @edcardiy
      @edcardiy  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Rick Pinelli, The Noco Genius 5 takes about 12 to 15 hrs to fully charged a standard car battery depending how much Ahr (Amp Hour) your battery have on 50% discharged battery. Now if they tested it and found only 7.5 volts and they replaced it with a new one. Then that battery is defective.

    Does the dedicated 'Repair Mode' on the NOCO 5 and 10 automatically activate during the charging process, or is that a separate function that I can decide if I want to do or not? Also, with 'Repair Mode', do the battery terminals need to be disconnected from the battery? I read somewhere that to avoid damaging the electrical system, you need to remove the battery or disconnect the terminals.

    • @edcardiy
      @edcardiy  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Repair mode is a different charging process, It's better to disconnect the battery from the car to prevent damaging the electrical system when doing repair mode ( just my opinion).

      To activate repair mode, Press on the mode button until you reach repair mode and hold the press for a few seconds until the repair mode lit up.
