    I know I am a dinosaur ,I'm 85, but I remember when my police bike cost the city $1900 dollars. The bike are. Way better now difference between day and night but,$40,000 better. No way. I love my street glide (2007) but I could never justify the cost of a new one.

      The 2024 Street Glide is 26K your 2007 Street glide, was about 17K That would be the equivalent of 26K today, that means H.D. prices are the same as they were in 2007. They haven't gone up one bit.

      @motorman857 Good one ! I've bought a few vehicles in my young 61 years. Actually, I was a service manager at dealerships for 20+ years. I've never paid sticker for anything. I pay cash and tried 2 different dealers. Both wouldn't budge, so I just upgraded my 2012 Ultra Limited. I love Harleys. Maybe I'll find a dealer in my travels this summer! I do like your videos!

    Holy crap! State of the art? I dunno. I like my old evo. 96 Electra glide. I'm far too old to take a long trip on one anymore. I ride mine to the store and around town and thats pretty much as far as I go. Its a grocery getter and saves me money on gas. I do enjoy gettin my knees in the breeze but I'd never drop 50 grand on a bike that I couldn't ride year round. That's just too dang expensive!

      Always respect your opinions based on your motor officer experience but you do display a slight HD bias. IMHO the best touring bike is the BMW R1250RT. Has every luxury/convenience feature of the CVO, and at around 630 lbs is 200 lbs lighter than the HD with a superior power/weight ratio. Face it the CVO advantage is mostly cosmetic. The BMW on a mountain road would run away from the HD and out accelerate it on the straights. Also very comfortable maybe not as much for the pillion. Just for the hell of it take a 2023 1250RT for a ride and compare them for us. Oh yeah the BMW is over 20K less $.

    I can't believe it! $45,000 for a motorcycle? Very glad I am old and am able to enjoy my 2011 Road King Classic. You young, rich guys can have the new Harleys with all their needless tech--so that you can be as comfortable and secure as you are in your cars.

    • @motorman857
      @motorman857  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Here's a reality check for you. $20,000 in 2011 is worth $27,273.71 today. That means you paid more for your 2011 R/K than a 2024 R/K special, which is superior in every way to the 2011 model. So there's that.

    • @vics8873
      @vics8873 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Certainly you are correct in what you say comparing the Road King Special, which seem like a reasonable deal to me, although it does lack the saddlebag guards, windshield, running lights, and longer rear shocks that my Classic has, making mine, IMO, more suitable for touring. My main beef is that I would never spend (others certainly are free to) the almost additional $20k for all the other stuff that's on the CVO model you featured. But always nice to get a reply from you, Motorman, and please keep up the great work! I will be 80 in May and still feel competent and comfortable on my bikes because of your training videos and ongoing practice. Thanks!

I ride a motorcycle 🏍️ to get away from all the problems and noise, I like just the sound of the motorcycle 🏍️. I also can’t afford the cost of a new bike. I just bought a clean 2010 Dyna Wide Glide with just under 10300 miles for under 8 grand. It has leather saddlebags, windshield with a leather tool bag and the speedometer upgrade that has a tachometer and other needed info. Can’t wait for spring to go riding! I do like a lot my 2023 Street Glide CVO (an "old" model !). I got my driving license back two weeks ago, since than I have made 700 Km with it. As you say, it's the most interesting cruising bike I have had, lots of power, soft, comfortable, precise... I kind of synthesis of the best characteristics of the LowRider S, Ultra Limited and Breakout 117 Stage II.
    A few points to consider :
    1. It is absolutely crucial to adjust the rear suspension properly. For this, we must read the manual, the big visible nob on the left is essentially useless.
    2. When using the cruise control I inadvertently cut my engine twice simply by swiping softly the main switch. For me, it should be harder to avoid this. And I dislike to have to turn the whole bike off and on when I wish to play a bit with this interface on a ride.
    3. Too much importance is given to distracting things, like sound and the graphical user interface. In parallel, the turn lights switches a poorly accessible, I often push an accessory switch instead of them. This even after having adjusted the handles position.
    4. The Apple Car play connection is sometimes unstable, at least when the link is wireless. It seems a bit better with a wired connection.
    But, what a wonderful bike !
    Thank you for your videos in general, and especially for teaching me again how to manage our beloved mamouths !

    An extremely steep price point (CVO), and Standards still lack a lot of stuff the competition is offering (heated seats/grips, reverse, electronic suspension, electric windshield to name a few).
    Even with better suspension travel, others still fair better on stock setups.

      I agree BMW, Goldwing have some extra features Harley's don't and may never have. Harleys will probably never be the logical value purchase (but which motorcycle ever is 😉) What sells Harley to me over others is the rugged style, how easy it is to make that syle fit my preferences, beautiful paint and finishes, the way it makes power from down low, the way I sit in it and the deep rumble. Those are things a BMW or Goldwing will never have in the same measure for me. But I totally understand riders have different priorities so I'm glad we have so many great choices. 👍

All I feel that if the Motor Company starts offerings features/technology that are standard on the other motorcycles and starts giving a motor from factory that would not need a Stage upgrade for power boost, HDs would actually have a pretty pretty good chance to be with the top bikes there.
      I love the way the HDs look and sound. What doesn’t justify is dropping huge sums to acquire one and then huge sums to make one rideable 😅

      @@jaspreetsinghbajwa4374I think when we discuss high dollar bikes, they ALL are emotional purchases because cars are so much more safe and practical. I ride mainly for relaxation ( endorphins) and a Harley fits my style and type of riding. Others may ride for more excitement ( adrenaline) with bikes that emphasize more performance. I don't feel the need to spend anything to upgrade my Road King with a basicly stock 107. Rear wheel torque is already pretty close to the Goldwings according to Cycleworld. But I understand your point that for you and others those stock Harleys don't scratch your performance itch. Keep riding safe my friend 👍

  • @thejerseyj5479
    @thejerseyj5479 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    People who complain about the price of a new CVO make me laugh. They weren't built for a middle income guy with four kids. They are the top of the line motorcycle and not for everybody. There are lots of things we cant afford but you can't blame the motor company for building a gem of a motorcycle, and selling it at a price befitting a gem.
    And, don't forget, there are thousands of super low mile, mint condition CVO's out there for a fraction of the price of a new one. So instead of settling for some plastic Harley Davidson wannabe, find a 10 year old Harley with 3,000 miles on it, (they're out there,) and go for it.
    I've owned metric cruisers and when I got my first Harley, it was immediately apparent that it was a big step up in value and feel. And if someone like Jerry Palladino, who has ridden everything under the Sun, says that this is the best touring motorcycle money can buy, you can believe it.

    I would maybe classify it as the coolest bike. But since I have owned both, I would still call the 1800 Goldwing the best touring bike. The Goldwing out powers, out torques , out handles, and is more comfortable. I could take my wing up to 120 but would never do that on my Harley.

      I know $50k is 50k but seriously feature for feature and power for power these are actually more bike for the buck than ever before. You would have to get at least a stage 2 to get this performance level. And we're not even talking about stuff the older models didn't have like ride modes. I'm not really tempted, I like my Road King just fine, but I think for the guys looking now, the value compared to last year's bikes would be hard to deny.😊

    I see absolutely nothing about this bike that justifies the price tag. I'm not a hater, but I walked away from Harley a long time ago and this is not making me re-think that position. I'm not spending almost twice the money on a motorcycle that I would spend on a car, and I put a lot more miles on bikes than I do my personal vehicle. I would rather own multiple, reasonably priced motorcycles than break my neck trying to pay for one of these. It's a pretty specific touring bike with no comfort for the passenger. No rear boards. No rear backrest. No trunk. I'm guessing we re-positioned the bike out of the sun so we could see the LED dash. So, 50k for something that will spend more time at the mechanic for twice the rate, three times the part cost than a competitor? No, sir. I'm good. If you can afford it and it makes you happy, great. Personally, for that kind of money this thing better bring you a beer after a hard day while it ties up it's ponytail.
