I absolutely love the shop and the build videos. The filming turned out great. If you hadn't mentioned it was a problem, we would never have known. Must be that magic editing. Another channel I watch used those same lights. They are great. Keep the shop videos coming. Looking forward to the finishing metal going up. Thanks for the great content. I look forward to new releases.
I've watched 50 seconds and... I might have commented it before but I'm saying it again: I really appreciate the fact that you went to the trouble of having musicians do a soundtrack for your channel and creating a unique musical identity to your videos which connects parts together. There are a lot bigger channels who do all sorts of fancy editing and yet never bother to take this step, and it's honestly baffling that it's SO rare! So good job and good job to the Semi-Supervillains, it sounds great.
Some of us have been here for the entire journey, from dropping some containers, to adding a hood between the two containers, to the new shed. If anyone ever deserves a nice workshop you do Matt. Congratulations and looking forward to many more years of fun projects.
I think I found him from an old Bobcat vid he did where he broke up an entire driveway in one day and hauled of the concrete in an old Ford dump truck.
Matt, it is super cool having the The Semi Supervillains playing your theme song in front of the shop...mighty fine pickin from those fellows. Thank you for taking us along on this epic adventure!! Lots of love to you and the fam. Stay safe and please be careful.
Goood to see it coming along for ya. You may want to mount some side lighting on the walls in work areas. Overhead lights are great, but under and around equipment has a lot of dark areas.
My thought exactly, and personally even though it would be overkill added another set of 8 overhead along with sidelights. Matt is happy that’s all that matters.
Man Bob did a real good job with the electric work! Yup the lights seem to work real well. Looks like the white tin for the interior walls was being moved into your shop for the closing scene! It is looking awesome Matt , thanks for taking us along. I am on stand by and am looking forward to the next Diesel Creek video !!
Hey Matt, I’m so happy for you for building your own workshop Even tho I’m not personally into heavy equipment I really enjoy all your projects and videos! Keep it up man!
Looks amazing! With the insulated walls and heated floor, that should be a really nice, warm space. When it comes time to install electrical outlets, figure out how many you THINK you will need and then add 35% to that number. I put in 14 outlets in my 28x30 garage and it wasn't enough. I had to add 6 more to eliminate extension cords.
I cannot compliment you any more than I have !! When I reflect back on what you HAD, to what you HAVE now, it's amazing !! From primitive to luxurious is what I see. Well done Matt !! Yes you've come a l.o.n.g. for way, baby !! Proud of you, Buddy !! You've worked hard !! Looking forward to future episodes and your accomplishments !!
Your new work space is awesome but there is one thing that you might consider adding . When you are inside working on a new to you piece of equipment and you can't work on it outside because of the weather the inside is going to get filled with diesel fumes and other fumes (gas , propane, etc. ) you might want to install a large exhaust fan ( 1 or 2 ) so that way you don't have to open up the roll up doors and lose heat . Just an idea 💡.
I'm curious about the in-floor heating. I can't wait until you start setting that up. And, of course, the overhead crane will really be the cherry on the top. As much as I love watching you rescuing old iron, I've been living vicariously through this shop build. I'd love a shop like that, but it's bigger than my backyard, so . . .
Always look forward to the notification of a new Diesel Creek video and the music. Thank you Matt for sharing your passion for all your many projects! Your new shop is impressive, looking forward to upcoming projects your new shop will allow you to jump into! 👍
Good stuff. Keep in mind that LEDs wear out with time, especially if they run hot (manufacturers may overdrive them). Having a bit extra will be handy 5-10years down the line.
Dude, you have a spectacular shop. I think you are doing an amazing job of filming and finishing out the shop at the same time. I'm amazed with each episode you release on the shop, just how far things have progressed. Nice going...
Those receptacles down the center won't be wasted, put up a row of ceiling fans. You will need them to blow the hot air down in the winter and cool air in the summer.
So you have the middle wired for lights your probably not gonna use. So maybe for ceiling fans ? I don't know how much heat will travel up from the floor heat!?
She's coming along nicely! You're doing great even at stuff you aren't 'proficient' with. Take your time, research, learn to do it right the first time, and that's going to be an amazing work space!
Suggestion, I worked in an aircraft hangar that is about 10 times the size of your shop and I always found it hard to get enough light under the F-16's engine bays from the bottom. I made a few lights from explosion proof ( you might not need that, I had to comply with USAF regs) and put them on wheels with a bolt through the middle of the end so it can be tilted. If you use LED lights you can have great lights under equipment and the tilt capability will keep it out of the way. Looks great, looking forward to seeing the floor heater hooked up.
You can get excellent cordless lights for this purpose now. They're a bit pricey but handy and no cables to trip on. You could get some eBay truck bar lights and power with cordless tool batteries or other if you want to do it cheap.
Matt, you are a very good editor. I like the way you fast forward thru certain things, were we still get to see how you did it and what you did, but yet not ever boring! Love you videos. Congratulations on your dream shop. I am one jealous guy! Did you pay for that with You tube? I am a 36 year mechanic, and I really like your work ethic and your ability to be a jack of all trades! Great Stuff!
Matt, what a great shop for you and those lights are crazy bright and I can't wait to see the white tin on the walls... I know you are very proud of your success and when you hook up the heated floors you are going to love it in there, congratulations on a job well done.
Looking good Matt can’t wait to see the overhead crane going in I’m guessing it’s a little way out until you’ll be able to do that but definitely looking forward to future shop content and pretty soon you’ll be able to work on the trucks and other equipment on a nice floor and not have to be laying in the mud anymore!!!!
You worked hard through the years to make this all happen, you should enjoy driving your forklift around. So happy for you. Well done. Enjoying the channel. Tks for sharing.
Overhead lights look awesome 👌 Have you thought about a couple of wall mounted also to help alleviate shadows when working on machines? You could also use that run of centre outlets for ceiling fans come summertime 😉
Smart running 3/4" EMT from the circuit breaker panel. Gives you flexibility to add a lot of circuits in the future. LED'S now the only way to go. Have 4' fluorescent lamps in my garage that I installed 40 years ago. They are a pain in co!d weather. Have to leave them on for at least 10 minutes before they come up to full brightness in cold weather. Going to remove ballast and convert them to LED'S. Love the insulation cutting jig.
Sweet success on the workshop matt many good builds & resurrections on the way & I'd love to hear the acoustics with the infamous semi super villains playing inside your workshop .
SHOP IS LOOKING GREAT MATT, LIKE YOU SAID, ITS DEFINATELY GONNA BE A GAME CHANGER WHEN ITS DONE AND YOU START WORKING INSIDE, KEEP THE GREAT VIDEOS COMING, AND THANKS FOR ALL THE ONES YOU HAVE SHARED SO FAR, LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT ONES
Matt I think most of us are just excited to see what you come up with. The next stage I really am waiting to see is the gantry crane. This is going to be super awesome!
I did my house with volcanic rock insulation Roxul. It was easily cut with a bread knife. It does not itch. Also did the exterior of my house with James Hardy fiber cement siding, plus it is fire proof. It is an American product. Did it 15 years ago and it still looks great.
As suggestions, before you get a lot of stuff in the shop, that you seal the floor. Will cut down on the dust, and make oil and dribble cleanup easier. As for the ceiling, consider foam insulation for the ceiling. Only problem with foam is that you will have to do a lot of masking and draping, as that foam stuff gets everywhere.
Looking real good! Are you going to put in a ceiling to limit heat loss in the winter and heat gain in the summer? Or are you planning on leaving it open and installing ceiling fans for air movement? I realize I might be thinking ahead of you a little. I know you have put a lot of thought into planning this all out. Just curious. Thank you for sharing!
I couldn't agree anymore.. This shop, with these lights..Incredible. I said it once, but it needs to be said again...I am envyious of this shop. I missed out on the chance to have a 22 x 40 shop..city re-zoned our neighborhood. So I work out of 2 structures. A 15ft sq 1922 garage (my shop), and a 20x22 carport (my shed). Neither are heated.
All your little insulation cutter needs now is a return spring and some type of built in cutter and it would be a hot ticket item to patent, good luck in the industry!
Love your shop build videos Matt, I always look forward to a new video on the the progress of the shop build. You are so close to brining finished, can’t wait to see the shop tour video when your all set up.
So are you going to bring in those tool boxes from the C Cans you purchased earlier? Can't wait for you to start filming what you love most and that is fixing. Remember you have to keep that new shop clean. Your videos bring much enjoyment along with the balanced humor.
love the new video. As for the lights, I for one am not sure there is such a thing as "too many lights" in a workspace. Gonna be a gamechanger once the shop is done, and you can actually work in some form of "comfort" and not out in the mud

Matt, I really appreciate your videos. I have learned so much from your various adventures. You have a positive vibe and keep the cursing down to a minimum. You must be a Christian man? Props to you!
Hi Matt, I am also in the process of putting up my own storage/ workshop and is just as excited as you are. Looking forward to see your shop completely finishd and all the content coming up for us. Greetings here from Western Cape, South Africa.
A dream come true looks great!! love the lights and I'm happy for you always like to see a guy's dream come true enjoy and thanks for keeping thing clean on your channel.
Hey matt truth be told I met every word you worked for it why spoil it with short cuts , they get done but at what cost? Fantastic job Matt . You inspire me. Every time I watch your videos I wanna wrench and tear something down and put it back together better than before. Be safe.
Also, another shop trick my dad and I used in ours, we got a bunch of white and galvanized tin roofing panels; combination of drops/extra pieces from jobs we've done in the past, and a few awesome auction scores, and we used those for interior wall coverings as we upgraded all the lighting to LED. That combination made our whole 40x40 shop so much brighter to work in. 😎
The UFO lights are great. I used a different brand of warehouse light but, boy, they can make light. One in my garage over where I put my table saw or other standing tool, poof, "light of the sun"! Makes marking, cutting and assembly easy. Expensive and I needed a separate circuit, but worth every penny. I can't remember how many lumens but it's way beyond any standard socket LED from the big box store. With white walls, it'll be great in your shop. Based on past experience, you'll still want portable lights for working under things but that's gravy.
That’s a dream come true. I am so happy for you, you have worked so hard to get where you are. I am enjoy every episode. The filming is good and flows well, plus the music is top notch and like no one else. Thanks for sharing your time and adventures with us. Peace
When I built my workshop, I put 1/4" pegboard directly on top of my insulation floor to ceiling. Can't beat pegboard for lots of storage options and you can always put shelving over the pegboard where you want shelves. I have an extension pole with a hook on it so I can reach stuff that's higher near the ceiling that I don't use as often. I've never regretted to my entire shop in heavy duty pegboard.
👍No longer a dream shop , this thing’s for real Matt , cheers🍻

Indeed. The only other channel I watch that does this is Acorn to Arabella.
I appreciate that!
I second that and the opening theme tune where they play in front is 100% best diesel creek tune fits the whole theme perfectly.
😊😊
HEY! We all have been waiting for A Diesel Creek fix!
Yes! Dropped my glass clicking fast here :-)
You got that right, Richard!
Matt's been slacking on the videos...lol
Amen lol
For sure, been missing my DC updates! Very happy for you Matt, you’ve gotta be so stoked about moving into the shop!

Some of us have been here for the entire journey, from dropping some containers, to adding a hood between the two containers, to the new shed. If anyone ever deserves a nice workshop you do Matt. Congratulations and looking forward to many more years of fun projects.
I started watching when he got the 977 running. I thought to myself, it'll never run. Ever since then, I've been hooked on this channel
I've been watching since he got the clark michigan loader running!
I think I found him from an old Bobcat vid he did where he broke up an entire driveway in one day and hauled of the concrete in an old Ford dump truck.
You might consider some sidewall lighting placed at 3-4 foot off the floor for working under equipment to supplement portable handheld lights.
The concrete *should* reflect enough light that it won't be an issue but that's as you said what a handheld light is for
Use the lighting plan for a spray booth. That gives even all around light.
Matt, it is super cool having the The Semi Supervillains playing your theme song in front of the shop...mighty fine pickin from those fellows. Thank you for taking us along on this epic adventure!! Lots of love to you and the fam. Stay safe and please be careful.
Freaking Bright With all 8 of them lights impressive Matt 25:17 @Diesel Creek
nice good led high bay light
The extra outlets you had put in will be perfect to run a bunch of ceiling fans from. Good in both summer and winter!
Looks great Matt!
good idea!
You could use the center strip of outlets for ceiling fans. It's turning into a really nice shop.
yup, he's gonna have a ton of heat trapped up there.
I was just going to suggest fans to!
I think he might put an overhead crane inside his shop I don’t know if there would be space for some fans.
I'd put a centrifugal fan under peaks on both ends, if doors allow
Maybe a couple “big ass fans” on either end.
looks great man that center section of outlets would be great to use for some ceiling fans for the summer for more air circulation
Not only summer 😊 in winter you can use the fans to push the warm air back down.
Warm air won’t go that high with radiant heat. 8 to 10 foot has been my experience. But summer use would be good.
@@musky629 very interesting. Would not have guessed that.

Keep it up man!
Out of all videos, I actually enjoy listening to your Timelapse music. Great move working with the band you do.
Seeing the Semi-Supervillains performing in front of the shop just fills my heart so much!
That was awesome
Those guys are really good at changing up songs that fit the action (king of the hill theme) Juuuuust enough to no be copyrighted!

I've found the Milwaukee rover series lights are awesome for this purpose
Yep, It's hard to get good help.
Dunno if you've thought about cooling at all but some through-wall barn fans would be great to get the heat out of there in the summer.

Peace
Sheeting the end walls first makes a lot of sense to stabilise the building is so good to know. Thanks Matt
Wonderful headway, Matt. Congratulations.
These videos are getting bigger and better. I remember watching when there was only ten or twenty thousand views!
