I agree about the indicators failings so I swapped mine for the Weiser Technik units, it took a few hours but well worth the change, brighter all round and less confusion for drivers at junctions.
My 2014 GS has the indicators that self cancel after 300m, that's WAY too long after a turn to have the indicator turn off. And I'm on the second screen on my Navigator VI after the first one started ghosting. Very easy to replace.
Totally agree with your points on indicator issues. I’ve also noticed a number of recent cars also have this issue with ‘stylish’ rather than practical indicators that are close to useless. Like you pointed out, a greater issue on the moto highlighting the absolute need to use those mirrors. Love your work, stay safe from Tasmania. 🏍🐧👍🇦🇺
Mate, I read in the owners manual. You can have a dealer change the setup of your indicators to go for longer. Let us know how it goes. Love the channel!
@@kerrizor I don't know where you're based but certainly in the UK this option is not available even though it's listed in the settings - the end user cannot change it, it requires a code which is a bit of a swiz to say the least. I have arranged to get mine completely disabled

Great update. I've wondered how these issues aren't found before things go to market. Surely, bmw could turn off the brake light when the indicators are working.
Great bike ! Great video, I was also told by my mate who followed me that the brake light overpowers the indicator on my '21 GS. As a result I have put on a set of rear Denali T3s and a Cansmart/EZ can. The indicators really show up now! Bad design by BMW though. Also agree about the self cancelling so will follow the comments with interest.

On the subject of indicators I developed painful tendinitis on my left hand between my thumb and forefinger. It's because of the whizz wheel or whatever you call it. It means when indicating I have to stretch about another 3/4 of an inch. I've never had that problem on other bikes before.

A quick question if I may. When riding the 1250 what is your ideal rev. range? I was riding a couple of days ago with an "Avanced Rider Instructor", and tried telling me that I ought to be between 6,000 & 8,000. I Never myself ride in that range. I find with my style of riding, between 3,000.and 5,000. It would be great to hear your views. Best regards James (Retired in Spain), Riding 25 to 30 thousand kms a year.
I'm a gs1250 owner and recently did a tour and spent two of the days with an advanced rider. End of the first day he commented when we filled up I had used three litres more fuel than him so next day I deliberately short shifted and kept the revs lower. As well as using less fuel I felt smoother and think I was flowing through corner better so I would say your instructor doesn't understand how much grunt and engine breaking the gs has even at lower revs. Hope you don't mind me giving my opinion.
What is the red zone on your Rev counter? Half it and about 500rpm either side is the ideal rev range. So at 70mph it is probably reading 4000rpm on a 1250gsa? Your ideal rev range would then be between 3500-4500 give or take. Let us know how that feels. You will find that on a bend you are having to ‘power’ around the bend which is great as it gives you more control. Ride safe.

Yeah, I am still on my 2010 airhead GS. I tried LC too and did not like indicator switch either (old ones with separate switch on each side of handlebar were lot easier to operate). However, that was minor thing to other things I did not like, compared to my airhead so I decided not to upgrade.

Luckily i have the 2020 R1250GS 🙂
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
When i tested an r1200gs lc when they first came out, it became apparent that i couldn't operate the indicator cancel or right turn button because of the thumbwheel....ocean salesman's answer....its not a problem it'll self cancel....no solution to turning right apart from taking my hand off the grip.... so still riding an 07 airhead...well done bmw. Change for changes sake🏍️😠
Yeah, I am still on my 2010 airhead GS. I tried LC too and did not like indicator switch either (old ones with separate switch on each side of handlebar were lot easier to operate). However, that was minor thing to other things I did not like, compared to my airhead so I decided not to upgrade.
All that money for a non perfect! BMW (Buy More Warranty)😏
Why does common sense not exist at manufacturers???🤔
It is frustrating
Stupid indicator system ! 😉😉
