I discovered it mere days ago, and it's already one of my favorite songs in the world. Stunning, beautiful, mysterious, profound, a work of art. Including that fabulous video
So glad you enjoyed that you two (three including that adorable cat!). The video visuals do detract a bit as so much going on.....but Gotye is very unique in his composition, and the melancholy of his lyrics is profound. Thank you for the shout out....love your channel 🙏 😊
Gotye is a very good artist. He was an award winning musician before Somebody That I Used to Know. It kind of sucks that a single song can completely overshadow someone's entire career.
This is probably my favorite song by him. "Puzzle With A Piece Missing" from this album, is a good one, as well. I don't see a video for that one, just the music alone.
You should see him perform this live, hopping from instrument to instrument. He's a musical genius, and it's a shame he's not done any new songs for ages. This song has been used on a movie too by the way.
I agree with some of the other comments, this is his best track that I know about.Somebody I used to know is a good song but it got overdone and then all the parodies and covers... it was a bit too much. Interestingly enough Gotye must have listened to a lot of the covers because he put together a new song, built from clips of people playing covers of SIUTK, the new song is called something like Somebodies a TH-cam Orchestra, its very different, very clever. I would also recommend Bronte, be warned though the video and the lyrics tell different stories, both are sad, so tissues or loo roll may be needed.
Hey guys. Don’t remember you ever reacting to this band. I’ve been following them since they started about 15 years ago and have seen them live about 15 times. English band called “White Lies”. Would love to know what you think. This track is basically their anthem at live gigs. th-cam.com/video/LTh9IuSTOY0/w-d-xo.html
Such a masterpiece, never understood why it was only a hit in Australia and Belgium. Melodic, mysterious and haunting.

Absolutely! It is one of the greatest songs that hardly anyone knows.
They used the song in the movie " The Great Gatsby " with Leonardo Di Caprio.
It was a hit with this one dude living in Boise, Idaho. Not sain' which dude...
He definitely sounds like Sting - especially when he pushes his voice.

For me this is the best song he ever did 🥰🥰
Agreed
Have to agree!

That was neat. He definitely has a unique voice and feel about his work 👌🏻👌🏻

I’m so late but omg I love this song so much. The sounds and the emotions hit me so hard.
Gotye is a true artist who made songs to be enjoyed for decades to come
Missy Higgins does a phenomenal cover of this song, well worth your while checking it out!
that cover by Missy is awesome

If Tim Burton directed a music video. The song itself has a bleak vibe to it. Very lonely.
This is my favourite song of his

Definitely Gotye’s best song!
First time I heard him I thought: new Sting song?
The thing about great videos is they tend to distract from the lyrics. Especially when they’re not particularly connected like this one.
What the heck did I just watch, that video was weird. Thought it spoiled the song, which was okay. ❤️🤘🎸🎻🇦🇺
