Thanks Shawn, glad you liked it! It's such a great song and is a shame it is largely unknown outside of Australia and ofc Belgium. Took him 2 years to complete, but definitely worth the effort. Unfortunately it will always be over shadowed by Somebody That I Used to Know. Don't get me wrong, I like Somebody but Hearts a Mess for me is just perfect!
Shawn, Nice facts you research and share. This song hs an intriguing sound. I really like the percussion and tempo, it gives the song a catchy sound. The drums are well played. The subtle inclusion of the strings brings an atmosphere. I agree about the instrumentation and arrangement. Your breakdown of the lyrics is well said and on point. I think this is aa unique piece of music.
I've always loved this song, although I prefer the shorter single version, which flows better IMO. He's particularly good at layering songs, two great examples of that are 'State Of The Art' and 'The Only Thing I Know' (the 'Like Drawing Blood' mix). He's kept a low profile after his major hit, I think he really didn't like all the sudden fame and attention. A shame, because he made fantastic music.
Yeah I ummed and aahed but went with the album version so the beat would have the time to get into his bones and take him away 🤣 The whole Like Drawing Blood is a fantastic album. Still listen to it regularly.
Great reaction, love this song, and his whole Making Mirrors album is one of my favs of all time.
Will check that out. Thanks Jenni!

The super hit is usually never the best song! Thanks for bringing it!
