Thanks for reacting to this beautiful song. Gotye is a great sound designer. He uses everything, even a fence, to make beautiful music. Please check out more. He fimed a "making of" where you can watch him recording songs. Very interesting. Check out the music videos. They all are peaces of art.
'Somebody that I used to know' was covered by a Canadian group, Walk Off The World. The only way to 'hear' this is to watch the official video as all 5 members of the band play one guitar and three of them sing different parts. Extremely good cover. Try them next to each other. Gotye video is also good. This is very good too. Cheers Syed✌
That 'xylophone' sound might be a wurlitzer electric piano. That's the first name I thought of, & this is the first YT video I found. They sound similar to me. th-cam.com/video/nR1ltn3bPT4/w-d-xo.html
My favourite Gotye song. So beautiful. Such great vocals and orchestral accompaniment.
Glad you enjoyed it! I still find it completely brilliant - excellent lyrics, and such a command of an entire orchestra's worth of sounds
My favorite Gotye song! Check out State Of The Art next!

Very nice ...like some Acid Jazz tune!!! Good sound!!!
I love this song😍
Underrated artist. You should check out Kimbra. She was the other vocalist on Somebody That I Used To Know.
She's amazing
I love this song so much but i have to say the style of the song gives me feel good inc vibes
Interesting sounds and changeups - some bits don't work for me but enjoyed listening just to see what was coming next.
Simple but complex

If you want something really lyrically focused you should check out Bright Eyes (the band, not the song).

Sounds rather like a male version of Bjork. Interesting.
Interesting never thought of that comparison but yes I hear it now! Love Gotye and Bjork
