  • How to fish at Dungeness in Kent.
    Rigs I suggest to catch here are;
    Three hook flapper: amzn.to/2gG2dTi
    Pulley for big baits amzn.to/2vG0Nz0
    Ideal reels: amzn.to/2eDWigS
    amzn.to/2w07DKM
    Rod amzn.to/2vFNYVd...
    My Camera Equipment to Produce these Videos:
    Main Camera amzn.to/2gzGEAb
    Underwater camera amzn.to/2eyoMVO
    Audio Recorder amzn.to/2gz8pZL
    Microphone amzn.to/2xJyZXH
    Editing software final cut x
    Tripod amzn.to/2gzrgUn
    Despite the tackle recommendation always consider live baiting as the most effective option, if not the least humane.

    Hello mate! I have never fished Dungeness point, but always went to The beach at the bottom of DENGEMARSH Rd. Had some great catches in the 80's. Not been there for 30 odd years now, but as I was staying at Camber, thought I would go down to take a look. Had to park some way from the beach as the road had such deep puddles my car would have grounded! Walked to the beach and was quite shocked at what I saw! In your photos there is a distinct ridge between the road and the beach. NO such thing at Dengemarsh. The ridge had been destroyed and the shingle spilled way back and slopes away from the beach. The place where we used to park by the sluice was completely filled with shingle, and the people there parked on the road. you can see this clearly on google earth! I was so shocked that I thought I was in the wrong place! but there is only ONE rd. I didn't recognise the road at all as I have NEVER been there in daylight before. My biggest cod there was17lb (1983) at long range and I lost TWO others. Doubt I will ever return there to fish though. The road needs a 4 X 4.

    In the 60s they used to mention an area about a 100 yards out from the beach called the dustbin.

      Yes I remember - I blanked last time I fished it !

  • @kerryfoster1
    @kerryfoster1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Used to love that area. Always fished Dengemarsh. My biggest cod (beach) came from there, hundreds of dabs, whiting, soles. When the fog came down it was really spooky at night. (we ONLY fished at night) You never knew what to expect. I missed the peak time in the sixties - there were some phenomenal catches of cod on vastly inferior tackle to what you have these days! Les Moncrief was the pathfinder for beach fishing as we know it. Sad to see how it is now. All down to overfishing and lack of good fisheries management!

    Great place to fish I used to go there regular when I worked at the power station

    • @SaltwaterAngler
      @SaltwaterAngler  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ive been wondering.Is it still a nuclear Power station. I can see its still in operation but is it just electrial now ?
      How many years ago did you fish there and is it true that giant congers got caught in the cooling pipes.

    In Durban Harbour South Africa we had a place called Hot stream, it was similar to the boils where hot water came out of power station cooling system an the fishing was good due to bait fish concentrations

    • @SaltwaterAngler
      @SaltwaterAngler  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi John , that’s interesting I think your right concentrations of those food sources attract the fish. I’m not sure the boils heats as it used to but definitely one to try in Dubai or Kent !

    Great video, cheers for the advice. I will be fishing there for my first time tomorrow night. I was thinking of fishing the first mark as the wind is a westerly, south westerly.
    How much more productive is the boils area? I'm after some early cod, they are showing pretty much all over especially on Chesil and a few decent ones coming from the Bristol Channel.
    Cheers in advance.

      @SaltwaterAngler  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the message Gents. There is always a debate as to which stretch of beach to Fish here. Personally i would fish behind the boats Slightly to the East where the beach bends round, if your after the cod The boils isn't necessarily better, There are those that may disagree but you'll be afforded better shelter from Prevailing SW winds and there is a gulley that the cod swim up. Sometimes there will be a flurry of bights on rods fishing in a row.
      You should spot the galleys at Low tide and fish it up.Many Anglers stop on the top of the tide but good fish can be landed on the first Hour. Tackle and tactics wise I'm sure you will be fine knowing the bristol channel so well definitely try pout or whiting live bait on the second rod close in. That first foot of water can produce Bass also. If the Cod are in the weekend is a bit shoulder to shoulder but you should be fine midweek. We've had a few razors wash up and check the tide line by the boats as it will give some clues as to whats being caught.
      Its a bit special Dungeness and i hope you have a great day. Maybe give Seagull tackle a ring or check their website section here for up to date reports. We've heard that Cod are around further west so fingers crossed.
      If your filming ill put a link to your video in the cards at the end of this Sea fishing Mark- No pressure but a double figure Bass or cod will be good ! Good luck let us know how you get on.

    Good info thank you, as a Geordie addicted to cod fishing which mark within driving distance from London is best for winter codling/cod please? I have always wanted to test the Thames as far up as Fulham area as I am sure some must come up there in big tides after large easterlies. Any info appreciated. Cheers Mark

      Great comment it would be great to see a cod in Cheyne warf maybe even casting from the banks of Parliament ! I agree its definately a possibility and it would take some bizzare weather conditions. Maybe aIts not been a good year for cod on the south coast. Some headline catches to the west from Chesil but yet again too slow, maybe its not cold enough !
      Traditionally Dungeness and the Dover breakwaters produce fish all within an hour (ish) of London theres always the Bristol channel as well.WSF is a good resource too

    • @SaltwaterAngler
      @SaltwaterAngler  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Usually its to do with when i release the lead so you can go too early (flys to the right) or leave the release too late and it drags round to the left. Sometimes ill hit it sweet in the middle and it flys. A lot of it has to do with feel and simplicity

      I like the ebb after high tide but away from the boats and other anglers. Maybe try the point, The water has not been too clear this year for feathers but maybe a calm spell will see the water clear in September and the fish remain inshore.

    Is it safe to eat a fish caught from the boils?thanks

    • @SaltwaterAngler
      @SaltwaterAngler  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      What a great question this made me think.I assume that the boils are the cooling of sea water and dont discharge anything from the power station its self.Regulations you would hope are stringent here. I know people do catch and eat from here. Personally the bid movement of tiddes here reasure me more than say fishing and eating a catch near a river mouth. So in short i dont know ! Over to the community ......

      The water goes through a heat exchanger which itself cools steam circuits.
      Gets nowhere near anything hazardous at all👍
