      @@DIYSpeedGarage Still on the fence about selling my mildly built 80 series Landcruiser for a GX but I just don't use it offroad much. I was scared about all the GX tech but you made this so simple. Looks like fur under 800 bucks these features can be added so that huge savings. Thanks, man!

    • @DIYSpeedGarage
      @DIYSpeedGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The 80 series is and will always be one of the best off-road platforms to build for that purpose, however if you’re not doing much/frequent Offroad then I agree The 150 series GX/LC Prado will be a good choice for replacement. You get a great balance of both off-road and on road performance with the 150 series, especially for pavement driving the GX with it's KDSS handles much better than any 80 series could ever be, then when you need to hit the trails it's just as capable. Just keep in mind the approach/departure angles because of the plastic bumpers but that can easily be remedied. Also stock ground clearance isn't the best but just by adding some taller tires can easily get you 1-2 inches of lift.
      Good luck Kevin 😎

    Awesome-- thanks a ton! I just bought a 2019 Premium

    • @DIYSpeedGarage
      @DIYSpeedGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey congrats on the GX! Yeah the premium is definitely the way to go if you want to build your rig to your own specs, with the premium you get the most important options/features without having to delete the height control you'd get if you had the luxury trim. That is if you want to do a proper suspension upgrade

      Hey congrats on the GX! Welcome to a very exclusive car club! The GX is an offroad sleeper, I'd say at least 90% of people think it's just a soccer mom SUV or a grocery getter. Little do they know 😎

    • @DIYSpeedGarage
      @DIYSpeedGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes i think it's worth getting crawl control, for only a couple hundred $$$ you get a pretty cool feature that can potentially help you out in a bad situation, why not have another weapon up your sleeve just in case

      DIY Speed Garage agreed! The GX is a beast. It pulls my boat with ease and I’m looking forward to testing it off-road. It’s tough in the North East as we don’t have many public trails.

    • @DIYSpeedGarage
      @DIYSpeedGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Ali, I'm sure they're is a way to do it but i would imagine it's not easy and would probably be very expensive to add factory height control. I recommend you look into getting some aftermarket airbags and an onboard sure compressor. Go to clublexus forums for some great content and ideas.

    • @DIYSpeedGarage
      @DIYSpeedGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello friend and welcome to the GX club, congratulations!! There Grom VLine 2 is a new product for the GX460, it seems like it's a nice product. I personally don't have it but plan on getting it soon.
      There are some GX owners on clublexus forums that have it installed.
      I've seen sellers from China selling a similar device for the GX for a long time and I'm thinking Grom probably got the idea from one of those manufacturers in China and probably just customised the device to their liking, maybe those manufactures are the actually suppliers for Grom Audio.
      I'm not saying it's a bad thing, just saying that it's been out in the wild from other manufactures and that it looks like a good add-on that's been tried and tested.
      Plus it looks like a very easy install.
      I would go for it 👍

    • @DIYSpeedGarage
      @DIYSpeedGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Mr. Lube! Yeah I actually meant to say that in Canada I think it's on the luxury trim, I don't think the USA models had this option at all before 20-22 model year? Still not 100% sure about this option here in the USA.
      Anyways, good luck with the install, you'll see it's probably like a 3/10 job maybe even a 2. Real reason imo.

      MTS is great if you travel on different types of surfaces, it changes the amount of power sent to the wheels increasing/decreasing the amount of wheel spin depending on the surface the vehicle is on. It's a great tool to have in case you might ever need it. It comes standard on all Lexus LX570 and 200 series Land cruiser. I think dinner of the 4runners get it and Tacomas. MTS is Toyota's version of terrain control you'll find on other brands 4x4s.
