I'll definitely have a think about that when I'm playing online games and see if I can save games that illustrate them well. Thanks for the suggestion :)
14:18 I dont understand how your opponent is making you 'waste' a move if you first play Be7. Unless you spend a lot of time creating a plan that incorporates Be7 just for your opponent then take on c5 and ruin your plans (and making the time you spent useless), it is mathematically equivalent whether the line goes ...Be7 d4xc5, Bxc5 or just (if your opponent takes right away) d4xc5, Bxc5.
I would normally disagree, but in the Caro I rarely see Be7 as a wasted move. It does sometimes feel like a presumptuous or defensive square for the bishop, but more often than not you risk ACTUALLY wasting a move putting it back there after going for something more spicy. Also it's very developing and is usually the final move to open up the kingside castle.. so yeah I agree with you here!
I totally get the point here and having to go Be7 dxc5 Bxc5 is absolutely fine, I just like delaying Be7 as long as reasonably possible to give my opponent the option of playing dxc5 while my bishop is still on f8. If I have to go Be7 then Bxc5 it doesn't matter loads at all but just a minor intricacy
I guess it's the Accelerated Panov 1.e4 c6 2.c4 d5 3.cxd5 (3.exd5 Nf6!?) 3...cxd5 4.exd5 and the Pseudo-Panov is the variation with 4...Nf6 and taking the pawn immediately with 4...Qxd5 is the Pseudo-Scandinavian.
Playing into the Tal variation might be really instructive even if you don't recommend the positions, so people can decide by themselves if they wanna go into that deep, deep forest in the middle of the night because in that variation the crazy chess happens and some people might really like that, not every Caro variation is mostly positional chess to win a pawn or something in the middle game, the fantasy or the Tal can actually be death matches 😂😂😂
Yeah absolutely, with white I'd definitely recommend it or for black at lower ratings for sure. Personally I like to be very solid with black and aggressive with white but that's just my preference. Nothing wrong with it necessarily, just my recommendation lol
@ChessCenturion Makes sense, especially if you recommend the early c5 you don't have to worry about that variation at all, it's also easier for the people watching if less theory is involved, there's already enough to cover
Yeah that's kinda my thinking, with 3.c5 so many ideas transpose (if not directly then the themes often carry over) which I find much easier. Also Bf5 is more common so white is more likely to be booked up on it. Who in their right mind hears "Tal variation" and doesn't immediately study ts out of it 😂
your videos on the vienna and caro have been very helpful to me- thank you! keep up the great videos :)
Glad to hear it, stay tuned for more!

Nice game!
Advanced Panov, they don't like the name Pseudo Panov anymore? lol

Ahh that makes sense. Nf6 is probably better now I think about it

Like the Caveman variation of the Tal variation...deep dark cave!
That actually a variation??
if you look up to talk to the audience you should talk to the camera, not to the monitor.
Yeah it's just a bad habit, working on it mate 😅
