    With the Matco scanner you can skip updates for more than one year and when your ready to update it’ll be the same price. Snap on if you skip more than a year in updates you have to pay for all the skipped years to be up to date

      Christian Sanchez that’s false information. You don’t pay for all missed updates

      @shockerd123 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's not correct for the Pro-Link Ultra. I'll have to pay for each individual application upgrade. It doesn't matter how long you wait to do the upgrades.

      The only thing you lose is it defaults to basic functions..You lose all the advanced features. Till you have an active subscription..
      That is the one thing that makes Snap On scanners over priced. They force you to keep up to date. On top of the cost of the scanner...

      New Snap-on pro link is unlimited updated when you buy the software but it’s for each individual make and can get pricey but if you buy it once it’s for life

    I'm thinking of getting the matco pay as you go unit for $1800. I'm mostly gonna use it for light duty trucks and SUVs. It's not something I'll use every week or even every month just a tool that when you need it, it's there

    • @Silent_Shadow
      @Silent_Shadow 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thats the one I own for working in a shop for personsl use. I don't think you'd need a scan tool like that for occasional use, but do as you need brother. You could save $800 and still get whst you need.

    Good video! Really do appreciate all the hard work. < I was really pulling for the Matco. > All the Bosch/OTC scanners I have ever used always had problems crashing. Have always had good luck with all the Snap-On tools I have used. I may be wrong but I believe that ProLink is made by Nexus... It would be cool to see if Hamilton will let you demo a Zeus & put it head to head with the Maximus 3.0 on medium & light duty stuff. Thanks again for all the great videos!

    I think I am just partial to Snap-On, it’s the most familiar to me, and if I have any issues my dealer is there to help me. I do have a really good Matco dealer but I just couldn’t get used to they way the have their data stream information laid out. It does work well, just was harder for me to use.

    • @KoonTrucking
      @KoonTrucking  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I can see that. As far as simplicity Snap On is hands down the easiest one by far to use. Just hit scan and go.

  • @dieseldoctor9294
    @dieseldoctor9294 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    In the diesel world, time is money! Matco loses it being slowest and having to read info twice, the snapon and bosch appear to be winners this round due to speed and ease of use. I'm with you on the bosch, after 12 months you have a expensive code reader, the snapon you still have full use up to the software installed. We'll see...........

    • @KoonTrucking
      @KoonTrucking  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      True. Time will tell. I have a lot of learning still to do on the Bosch I have hardly even scratched the surface as to what it can do

    I don't have patients for that type of tool however I do use just a plain cheap code reader I'd have to go with snap-on just looks better the speed shown in your video and just looks like it'd feel better in your hand

  • @fartnocker86
    @fartnocker86 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Hey clay. Just saying you might not have to search everything twice if you pick the Detroit and Cummins HD option the first time instead of putting in the truck then the engine the second time 😜

    • @KoonTrucking
      @KoonTrucking  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      One would think it would auto seance like the others do ? That’s the first time we used it. Even when you select the engine it is still SLOW almost painfully slow. You think something stopped working almost

    • @fartnocker86
      @fartnocker86 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow that is terrible. I wouldn't waste time or money with it then. I just figured since you were scanning the engine it might make it faster.

    We have NED for International and access to their information which is awesome. We are trying the TEXA because it will do HD trucks, off highway equipment and tractors but so far it's a fail. Would be awesome if you could add it to your comparison...

    My shop had a Bosh scaner.it was an ok scanner but it frozeup/crashed a lot. It also doesn't work with volvo/newer mack trucks. You could scan 1 volvo a day and if you disconnected from it you cant get back in. We replaced it with a diesel laptops setup

    Clay, great video and thanks for doing this. Did you do much testing yet on the individual systems? I noticed that I think all 3 found the brake system but none found the transmission. Do they need extra programming installed to connect to the transmission? Thanks, keep up the awesome videos!

      I've had that matco got about a year know, I work on cars not trucks, and I can say it's still a work in development, all thou they have improved it very well in this year, there's still small things that make me cringe, I also got mine with the OBD1 kit but in some older 80" GM it wouldn't connect, but the old snap on brick would, so... Yeah, I think it's too much money for it to not be able to tackle the old stuff. But it's still my go to for all obd2

    Ihave more than a year with my maxcimus 3.0, and I'm not gonna lie, there's time iWana throw it out the window, specially when it comes to read obd1, it truly sucks on obd1 stuff, the dark background and dark blue letters make it very difficult for me to read, and for the I/M button, it doesn't work on all obd2 vehicles, which is very frustrating because any cheap code reader shows the monitors as soon as you plug it in, it shows the not supported monitors taking space for the supported monitors, istruggle sending emails, and the text on some descriptions is quirky,.
    now what i haven't threw out the window yet, it's fast, it has agood source of bi directional functions, on aim pcm you're can write the vins, in most special functions will give me from a brief to a very detailed description of what it is and why should i use the function, i love the personalisation, mine is orange corners and the user interface is also orange, which makes me love it, ican file personalized diagnostic reports, and it stores history in the cloud, it's Android and can add blue tooth tools, play call of duty, ilike that it has a maintenance button to go directly to brake resets,oil life, etc with out doing afull scan and if the vehicle doesn't support afunction or if it had to be done manually it will tell you how to do it, i can scan the vin of the vehicle if it can't auto detect, and it's weather proof. So I'm the only guy in the rain with ascanner 😎

      I agree that’s the only downside to the Bosch. You pay out the rear to get it then another big lump to keep it going. I like the layout is the same and honestly the Bluetooth function is nice on it and the matco only draw back to that is you have to keep the tablet portion charged up since it isn’t getting a charge via cable
