It would be great if Magic Mountain replaced Goliath with a true world-class hyper-coaster. Imagine either a B&M hyper, a Mack hyper, or even a Vekoma hyper in place of Goliath. Now Goliath's footprint is on the smaller side, so that might make planning a good layout tricky.

I'm a coaster enthusiast from the state of Cali. SFMM is only and hour and a half away, and, honestly, this is actually a great ride. Though I have not ridden as many coasters as you have, I still believe that I have ridden enough to say this. It is highly intense, has a great, long drop, is very fast, has a decent layout, and, unlike many other hypercoasters, is actually a very long ride that can appeal to both adults and children, due to not being very insane with the airtime. Not only this, but they actually did amazing placement with this ride, in that, due to being near superman, it does not look as tall, and helps ridership, as kids will not be as scared. Overall, I think it deserves at least a 6, if not higher.
just get a b&m like raging bull and that ride is really fun with the drop or maybe put a giga to make it a monster so i recommend riding raging bull to see your opinions
The drop not being very steep is fine because it makes the drop longer. Steep drops can be shitty sometimes because they're over so quickly. The drop on Goliath feels like it goes on for a long time, which is awesome. If you're in the back, you get airtime going over the top of the hill, and a MASSIVE amount of floater airtime on the hill after the second drop. There's also some really intense G's, especially in the helix, and especially in the back. Yeah, the dead stop at the mid-course brake run sucks, it's so sudden and kills all that speed. I wish there were another element or 2 before that, but at least the turn and drop after the brake run is awesome. You feel like you're going to fall right out of your seat, especially in the front.
I completely agree with you! i enjoyed goliath a lot, and pretty much for the same reasons as you! Massive floater airtime which is completely awesome, awesome drop, cool laterals just after the MCBR, and good G forces in the helix!
yeah i think its about 4.5 or 3.5 G through the helix but its a bit of a problem for me as my vision goes a little wonky during the helix, doesnt freak me out at all but every time i ride this, i expect the visual problems that can last for me up to 10 mins after I get off the ride
I liked Titan at Over Texas. It's kind of different having that straight drop for so long into that tunnel. Like a larger version of the beasts drop. But yeah I understand that's your opinion.

Why do spoiled enthusiasts always complain about Goliath? The ride wasn't built to impress enthusiasts, it was built with the GP in mind and it accomplished what it was set out to do. Probably the most popular ride in the park.
I don't understand how you can say that! The drop is very fun, and you do get very good airtime after the turnaround. And if you sit in the front row, you feel like your gonna fall out of the seat. You also get a ton of Forces in the final Helix.
yeah i agree, he never gets airtime but i got great airtime, and great forces, and the falling out of your seat moment is really cool as well. I was shocked too by this review, i mean rather riding The Revolution, of course not. Goliath is an awesome ride!
Haven't tried this one, but I love Titan. The drop may not be steep but I love it because it feels so long and goes straight into a tunnel and I get lots of floater air on the airtime hill, plus I love all the positive g's on the turns.
This ride was amazing, especially at night when you can see the lights on the mountains! I think this is one of my new favorite coasters, even better than the Goliath at Great America.
I think its a really fun coaster, i mean whats wrong with the drop??? drops aren't supposed to give airtime, drops are supposed to accelerate and i absolutely love goliath's drop, its very long and you build up that insane speed that you get from this massive coaster (for me someone who lives in the Netherlands where the biggest drop isn't even 150 feet tall) then in this turn around with great views and back into another really fun drop where you get good speed, then i got insane floater airtime, because its soo long you get airtime for quite while, and it didn't feel like the standard floater or ejector, no it made it feel really special and i got it both the 2 times i rode this back in 2013, and it was totally awesome! then the mid course brake run, yeah maybe not that great, but when you exit it you get these great laterals which are also fun! then you go down and you pick up the speed again and go into some overbanked turns, and i really like overbanked turns, they are fun (i guess you don't like them seeing how you rate MF) the turns on this ride are just fun, the helix is fun too, i don't remember the forces on it, but i do remember that is was really awesome just going really fast in this helix, it made me feel like i was in a blender, then a couple more banked turns with good speed and i thought it was overal a very fun coaster, it doesn't need to be filled with airtime which i think is kind of strange why you always think coasters need airtime, i mean then you certainly ain't gonna like Taron since that barely has any airtime and mostly consists of turns which accomplish nothing but are still fun. Goliath is fine with a great speed and great drop. yeah sure other hypers are better, but i like hypers in general for their amazing speed and drop, but on the other side, a coaster like Behemoth seems pointless to me, you go up and down and don't really make any turns and the airtime you get is pretty much trimmed to death and i don't really see the fun in behemoth since its just airtime and that is really boring. I rate Goliath a 9, very fun coaster! This was basically my review on goliath.
If you mean B&M like hypers, none, i wish tho. they seem fun, hyper coasters that are above 200 feet, then Manhattan express which i found to be fun, but it was a bit rough, but the layout is pretty strong, Ispeed, great launch coaster, good banked turns, pretty intense, only problem are the restraints. and if you call Goliath at Walibi holland a hyper (which it isn't) the ride is too slow, drop is okay, airtime is good, overbanked turn is fun, but the rest is kind of boring, i really like speed, height and drop on rides, and overbanked turns are fun as well. a good layout is pretty important as well.

i mean, i got that insane floating sensation on Goliath at magic mountain and it truly felt magical, now, i don't think i have actually experienced any floater airtime other than goliath at magic mountain, but i have ridden a lot of coasters with good ejector airtime, and people always say ejector is better than floater but i really liked goliath's floater airtime.
I miss when this didn’t have a MCBR…. back when I first moved to LA, and was riding this in 2000 when it first opened. It was awesome; the helix was intense, and the first drop into the tunnel was always a blast. Millennium Force had just opened too but it was too far away, so this ride was my jam.
I remember Goliath in its inaugural season, back in 2000. Is it crazy to believe this ride used to be ranked in the top 10 of the entire country? Anyways, it used to not brake very much in the MCBR, allowing it to go faster in the spaghetti bowl section. However, in 2001 a woman died due to a brain injury, which could have been due to the heavy G-forces in the helix finale. So that's why it was trimmed. But the forces on pre-2001 Goliath were something to write home about, I can tell you that. Anyways, I think Goliath is a solid coaster. Not the best hyper coaster IMO, but still a decent coaster. It was never designed for airtime. It was built with speed and G-forces in mind, and IMO, it succeeds in that. Its different than most hyper coasters, but thats what I love about it. Though maybe it has to do with me being a part of the coaster community for nearly two decades and being able to appreciate a non-B&M/Intamin hyper.
I live in Australia where we don’t have a huge line up of roller coasters so getting the opportunity to visit Magic Mountain last year was my dream come true. Goliath was my very first hyper coaster and while I thought it was OK that mid-course break run just ruins it. During one ride we were actually stopped there for about 30 seconds (I assume that was due to a hold up at the loading station). Thankfully Movie World have given us DC Rivals and that is a hyper coaster that doesn’t disappoint.

You've got to acknowledge the fact that this ride is 20 years old (older than you lol). Naturally it's not going to live up to the quality and thrills of the modern rides we've been spoiled with.
I honestly think you may have ridden this on a bad day or something because I just went on it for the 4th and 5th time this past Friday and loved it. It’s way better in the back and when ridden at night/in the dark. When sitting in the back you get yanked over the initial drop, and I actually got quite a lot of floater airtime and same thing with that airtime hill. I personally thought it was purely a fun ride that pretty much anyone can have a good time riding. Another thing that was pretty interesting is that I was more scared on Goliath than I was on Superman even though Superman is almost twice as tall and I have a fear of heights. Idk, it’s just kinda interesting lol

I'm not sure if they can steepen the drop, given the layout. I do think, however, that they can reprofile that airtime-less hill into a massive ejector or floater one.

I don't think that it is as bad as you say. I like the Drop very much, because it is so huge and seems like you are falling forever. The Tunnel and the high speed is cool. It doesn't has lots of Airtime, but when it should have Airtime it has Airtime. and it has very forceful, intense Moments.

Goliath was my first ever ride that was super tall. Just to give you an heads up, the lap bars that is not in the front of the train, you will get a lot of air time.
Thanks, but I respectfully disagree with your critique. The initial drop is fantastic, because you get air time, you can't see the track below you, and the hole you're entering looks to be about the size of a pinhead. The left bank you criticize is actually great, because you feel like you're going to fall out of your seat, and then you start rushing around the tight turns. The entire ride is smooth, and, when sitting in the front seat, you get a stellar overall experience. This is still my favorite at Magic Mountain, and I've ridden every ride at the park multiple times. I last visited one month ago and rode Goliath 4 times! Best ride in the park!!
That's one of the bad things about riding pretty much every coaster in the US. Once you've ridden stuff like Fury 325, Intimidator 305, Maverick, etc. you don't really appreciate the less spectacular rides anymore. And it gets to the point where you're disappointed if a park doesn't add a magnificent record breaking ride every year (like Valravn at Cedar Point, even though I'm sure it's a fine coaster).

They added the midcourse brake run happened because too many people blacked out at the helix. Originally they didn't used hit the brakes at all till the end
The problem with the old school hypers is they were designed back in the day before the newer computer programs and Alan Schlike came along where he could design the new elements. They stop the train at the MCBR because a woman came back dead, caused by the helix at the end. This is why I keep saying out with the old school Arrows, SLCs, and the water rides in the dry section of the parks. The 2 Giavanoli coasters (Titan & Goliath) came out in 2000 and 2001. Bad design? Yes, but I don't think these rides will be retired for a while unless someone comes back dead.
I’ve ridden Titan, the helix is great, the drop is forceless, but fine, the airtime hill is pretty weak, the MCBR sucks, the rest is ok, but obviously fast, and the restraints are nice. 3rd favorite at SFOT, behind Freeze and New Texas Giant
I'm tempted to agree on this one. I haven't ridden too many hypers (Goliath SFOG, Magnum, Nitro, Goliath SFMM), and Nitro is tops on that list for me. I'd put Goliath SFMM on the bottom myself. But hey, it's still a pretty decent ride. You have to hit Goliath SFOG. Airtime city there.
Yeah my first time visiting Magic Mountian I rode this a few times and I have to say I agree this roller coaster was not one of my favorites the drop is not that good and that mid course break run really ruins it to. I agree you want a better ride twisted collosus is way better. I love the airtime you get on that ride.
I wouldn’t consider myself a GP, but I’m certainly no enthusiast. I really love this coaster, but I haven’t actually been able to get out and ride very many coasters at all. I might go to Magic Mountain in November and check out some of the rides there. But chances are, I won’t go and ride Goliath. Mainly because I want a new experience, and Over Texas is my home Park, so I can just ride Titan as many times as I want there. Very excited to have the opportunity to see Magic Mountain. Going there has always been on my bucket list!
I remember seeing this ride (Goliath) being built, and obviously when you're a younger person and seeing such a big ride being built you think it's the coolest ride ever. Now, I had HUGE expectations for this ride when it first opened. I remember riding it with my family the first year it came out and... it was one of the biggest disappointments of my life!!! This ride came out a little bit before Millenium Force opened at Cedar Point. Millenium Force not only has a bigger drop but it's steeper as well... and MF doesn't slow down midway through the ride! Goliath's drop is at 61 degrees which isn't all that steep, and this ride also felt super short as well! The reviewer of this ride is TOTALLY right in how this ride just wants you to slow down right in the middle of it. Six Flags Magic Mountain NEEDS A GIGA COASTER! Come on Magic Mountain! Build a Giga Coaster that doesn't slow down midway through the freaking ride like Goliath. The one thing that Magic Mountain has over Cedar Point is the number of inversions on their coasters, but I feel like if Magic Mountain were to invest in another ride, it has got to be a Giga coaster. Imagine a towering 300+ plus drop outlining the skyline view of Magic Mountain as you drive by. It would be up there with Superman and the observation deck, it would look so cool! Come on Magic Mountain. Invest in da Giga!
Oddly enough it's a front seat ride - ONLY for the large camelback. You get some pretty decent floater the entire way up and down (mainly cresting over it), but that's all the airtime you're getting. Funny that the best and worst parts are back to back.
Ok. The 1st drop is actually really fun. You feel the wind in your face and it’s fun to be gaining all that speed. It feels like you’re dropping forever. The tunnel is extremely forceful. I agree that the turnaround is pretty stupid, but the drop out of it is pretty fun. The airtime hill gives crazy floater airtime. I do hate the midcourse brakerun. It actually goes to a dead stop sometimes. That drop out of it is pretty weird because you are tilting so slowly and then you start gaining that speed back up in that overbank turn after the drop out of the MCBR and then you hit the helix which is easily the best part of the ride. You gray out and it is awesome. Then it’s a few banked turns and those are pretty fun. I seriously don’t understand why you don’t like this coaster. It is my 2nd favorite coaster at the park and the one I rode the most. I do understand that these are your own opinions and I can respect them, but I just don’t understand them.
I went on that ride ~15 years ago, and my ride partner did not like the helix 1 bit - She greyed out, and that freaked her out to the point where she didn’t want to ride any more coasters that day😅
The reason the mcbr slows so much is because people compained of greying out in the 2nd half. And in my opinion this is a GP pleaser. Its for the gp. Enthusiasts prefer Twisted colossus, Tatsu, that kind.
Exactly the drop was just an increase in speed, twisted colossus has such a better drop and is half Goliath's size, and absolutely no airtime on it, completely agree with ur review though it's not really bad, since it's smooth, it's just kinda pointless
The midcourse brake run is necessary. The helix that comes after it is quite intense. To the point where a common occurrence is people black out at that point due to the intense G forces. If you did that helix at the speed the ride was at before the brake run, the forces would increase and would cause more harm to people. Someone has already died after riding this due to a brain aneurysm that was either caused by the helix or the helix made it worse, there was an issue. They don’t put these brake runs to ruin the fun, it’s for safety.
for me i only rode it twice, the "airtime" hill didn't do anything. Plus this is at my home park so i go once every month. its not my favorite ride at the park but i think it has potential
I really enjoyed Titan after my first few rides, but now I know much more and have more coaster riding experience, so I wonder if it'd still be as high on my list
I found it fun, for a short wait. When I went it was often 5 mins to walk on, and to just hop on it was fine enough. I knew there was little air but I DID expect it to be more forceful...but the drop is fun I like a shallow drop sometimes because it feels like you fall really long. I do wish the MCBR was less intense so you could build up more speed and it's more forceful but yeah it's a 6.5, worth it for a short line. It was my #3 at the park behind FT and Tatsu. But X2 was closed and TC wasn't open yet. Well maybe 4th behind RR.
I think the issue with the drop isn't more that it doesn't gradually curve downwards and instead is just a straight drop downwards. This is why there isn't a lot of airtime generated
I'm under the impression that you consider floater airtime as no airtime judging by when you said valravn's last hill had no airtime. the vests don't make it as nice, but definitely noticed it
I rode Goliath one time and liked it and thought it had good airtime at like 2 points and good intensity but it was a cold, rainy night so that could've made it faster or something
I don't really understand everyone ragging on Goliath. The drop is so long you actually feel like you are going in a drop, unlike things like I305, which is over WAY too quickly. It's glossy smooth. It is also insanely intense near the end, giving 4.5 g's for a solid 6 seconds, which is almost unheard of, and is a generally fun ride.
When Goliath initially opened, there was no mid-course brake run. It was slowed down, because people where passing out due to too much force. I do agree that it completely killed that part of the ride though.

Goliath is fine with a great speed and great drop. yeah sure other hypers are better, but i like hypers in general for their amazing speed and drop, but on the other side, a coaster like Behemoth seems pointless to me, you go up and down and don't really make any turns and the airtime you get is pretty much trimmed to death and i don't really see the fun in behemoth since its just airtime and that is really boring. I rate Goliath a 9, very fun coaster! This was basically my review on goliath.

If you mean B&M like hypers, none, i wish tho. they seem fun, hyper coasters that are above 200 feet, then Manhattan express which i found to be fun, but it was a bit rough, but the layout is pretty strong, Ispeed, great launch coaster, good banked turns, pretty intense, only problem are the restraints. and if you call Goliath at Walibi holland a hyper (which it isn't) the ride is too slow, drop is okay, airtime is good, overbanked turn is fun, but the rest is kind of boring, i really like speed, height and drop on rides, and overbanked turns are fun as well. a good layout is pretty important as well.

i mean, i got that insane floating sensation on Goliath at magic mountain and it truly felt magical, now, i don't think i have actually experienced any floater airtime other than goliath at magic mountain, but i have ridden a lot of coasters with good ejector airtime, and people always say ejector is better than floater but i really liked goliath's floater airtime.

I miss when this didn’t have a MCBR…. back when I first moved to LA, and was riding this in 2000 when it first opened. It was awesome; the helix was intense, and the first drop into the tunnel was always a blast. Millennium Force had just opened too but it was too far away, so this ride was my jam.
I remember Goliath in its inaugural season, back in 2000. Is it crazy to believe this ride used to be ranked in the top 10 of the entire country?
Anyways, it used to not brake very much in the MCBR, allowing it to go faster in the spaghetti bowl section. However, in 2001 a woman died due to a brain injury, which could have been due to the heavy G-forces in the helix finale. So that's why it was trimmed. But the forces on pre-2001 Goliath were something to write home about, I can tell you that.
Anyways, I think Goliath is a solid coaster. Not the best hyper coaster IMO, but still a decent coaster. It was never designed for airtime. It was built with speed and G-forces in mind, and IMO, it succeeds in that. Its different than most hyper coasters, but thats what I love about it. Though maybe it has to do with me being a part of the coaster community for nearly two decades and being able to appreciate a non-B&M/Intamin hyper.
That's when I rode it in early 2000's and I loved it.

I live in Australia where we don’t have a huge line up of roller coasters so getting the opportunity to visit Magic Mountain last year was my dream come true. Goliath was my very first hyper coaster and while I thought it was OK that mid-course break run just ruins it. During one ride we were actually stopped there for about 30 seconds (I assume that was due to a hold up at the loading station). Thankfully Movie World have given us DC Rivals and that is a hyper coaster that doesn’t disappoint.
Aimsley81 I wish that Six Flags would follow MW lead and tear out Goliath and put in a REAL hypercoaster, because the Giovanola(Goliath's manufacturer) SUCKS!!!!

I think its fun. It depends what you like about coasters. This one is not intense at all, but its fast and smooth.

IMO this coaster is pretty fun to ride. Shame Giovanola wasn't around long enough to build more roller coasters, as they went bankrupt in 2004.

I honestly think you may have ridden this on a bad day or something because I just went on it for the 4th and 5th time this past Friday and loved it. It’s way better in the back and when ridden at night/in the dark. When sitting in the back you get yanked over the initial drop, and I actually got quite a lot of floater airtime and same thing with that airtime hill. I personally thought it was purely a fun ride that pretty much anyone can have a good time riding. Another thing that was pretty interesting is that I was more scared on Goliath than I was on Superman even though Superman is almost twice as tall and I have a fear of heights. Idk, it’s just kinda interesting lol

I don't think that it is as bad as you say. I like the Drop very much, because it is so huge and seems like you are falling forever. The Tunnel and the high speed is cool. It doesn't has lots of Airtime, but when it should have Airtime it has Airtime. and it has very forceful, intense Moments.

In this case, it was the opposite. It was a knockoff Raging Bull, but even more boring. At least the Great America version is quite good in the back row.

Brian McNally because I make up the scores on the spot depending on how i'm feeling. The scores are done on an individual basis, and should not be used to necessarily compare it to other rides. I do countdowns to establish the better ride, not reviews.

Goliath was my first ever ride that was super tall. Just to give you an heads up, the lap bars that is not in the front of the train, you will get a lot of air time.

Thanks, but I respectfully disagree with your critique. The initial drop is fantastic, because you get air time, you can't see the track below you, and the hole you're entering looks to be about the size of a pinhead. The left bank you criticize is actually great, because you feel like you're going to fall out of your seat, and then you start rushing around the tight turns. The entire ride is smooth, and, when sitting in the front seat, you get a stellar overall experience. This is still my favorite at Magic Mountain, and I've ridden every ride at the park multiple times. I last visited one month ago and rode Goliath 4 times! Best ride in the park!!

That's one of the bad things about riding pretty much every coaster in the US. Once you've ridden stuff like Fury 325, Intimidator 305, Maverick, etc. you don't really appreciate the less spectacular rides anymore. And it gets to the point where you're disappointed if a park doesn't add a magnificent record breaking ride every year (like Valravn at Cedar Point, even though I'm sure it's a fine coaster).

They added the midcourse brake run happened because too many people blacked out at the helix. Originally they didn't used hit the brakes at all till the end
The problem with the old school hypers is they were designed back in the day before the newer computer programs and Alan Schlike came along where he could design the new elements. They stop the train at the MCBR because a woman came back dead, caused by the helix at the end. This is why I keep saying out with the old school Arrows, SLCs, and the water rides in the dry section of the parks. The 2 Giavanoli coasters (Titan & Goliath) came out in 2000 and 2001. Bad design? Yes, but I don't think these rides will be retired for a while unless someone comes back dead.
I’ve ridden Titan, the helix is great, the drop is forceless, but fine, the airtime hill is pretty weak, the MCBR sucks, the rest is ok, but obviously fast, and the restraints are nice. 3rd favorite at SFOT, behind Freeze and New Texas Giant

I'm tempted to agree on this one. I haven't ridden too many hypers (Goliath SFOG, Magnum, Nitro, Goliath SFMM), and Nitro is tops on that list for me. I'd put Goliath SFMM on the bottom myself. But hey, it's still a pretty decent ride. You have to hit Goliath SFOG. Airtime city there.

on titan at least you can get a good amount of air on the drop and the hill in the back seat. also the double helix is really intense
Yeah my first time visiting Magic Mountian I rode this a few times and I have to say I agree this roller coaster was not one of my favorites the drop is not that good and that mid course break run really ruins it to. I agree you want a better ride twisted collosus is way better. I love the airtime you get on that ride.

I wouldn’t consider myself a GP, but I’m certainly no enthusiast. I really love this coaster, but I haven’t actually been able to get out and ride very many coasters at all. I might go to Magic Mountain in November and check out some of the rides there. But chances are, I won’t go and ride Goliath. Mainly because I want a new experience, and Over Texas is my home Park, so I can just ride Titan as many times as I want there. Very excited to have the opportunity to see Magic Mountain. Going there has always been on my bucket list!
You can't get rid of the brake run, because the added speed would make the helix even more/too intense.
I remember seeing this ride (Goliath) being built, and obviously when you're a younger person and seeing such a big ride being built you think it's the coolest ride ever. Now, I had HUGE expectations for this ride when it first opened. I remember riding it with my family the first year it came out and... it was one of the biggest disappointments of my life!!!
This ride came out a little bit before Millenium Force opened at Cedar Point. Millenium Force not only has a bigger drop but it's steeper as well... and MF doesn't slow down midway through the ride!
Goliath's drop is at 61 degrees which isn't all that steep, and this ride also felt super short as well! The reviewer of this ride is TOTALLY right in how this ride just wants you to slow down right in the middle of it.
Six Flags Magic Mountain NEEDS A GIGA COASTER! Come on Magic Mountain! Build a Giga Coaster that doesn't slow down midway through the freaking ride like Goliath. The one thing that Magic Mountain has over Cedar Point is the number of inversions on their coasters, but I feel like if Magic Mountain were to invest in another ride, it has got to be a Giga coaster.
Imagine a towering 300+ plus drop outlining the skyline view of Magic Mountain as you drive by. It would be up there with Superman and the observation deck, it would look so cool! Come on Magic Mountain. Invest in da Giga!
Oddly enough it's a front seat ride - ONLY for the large camelback. You get some pretty decent floater the entire way up and down (mainly cresting over it), but that's all the airtime you're getting. Funny that the best and worst parts are back to back.
Ok. The 1st drop is actually really fun. You feel the wind in your face and it’s fun to be gaining all that speed. It feels like you’re dropping forever. The tunnel is extremely forceful. I agree that the turnaround is pretty stupid, but the drop out of it is pretty fun. The airtime hill gives crazy floater airtime. I do hate the midcourse brakerun. It actually goes to a dead stop sometimes. That drop out of it is pretty weird because you are tilting so slowly and then you start gaining that speed back up in that overbank turn after the drop out of the MCBR and then you hit the helix which is easily the best part of the ride. You gray out and it is awesome. Then it’s a few banked turns and those are pretty fun. I seriously don’t understand why you don’t like this coaster. It is my 2nd favorite coaster at the park and the one I rode the most. I do understand that these are your own opinions and I can respect them, but I just don’t understand them.
I went on that ride ~15 years ago, and my ride partner did not like the helix 1 bit - She greyed out, and that freaked her out to the point where she didn’t want to ride any more coasters that day😅

The reason the mcbr slows so much is because people compained of greying out in the 2nd half. And in my opinion this is a GP pleaser. Its for the gp. Enthusiasts prefer Twisted colossus, Tatsu, that kind.
Exactly the drop was just an increase in speed, twisted colossus has such a better drop and is half Goliath's size, and absolutely no airtime on it, completely agree with ur review though it's not really bad, since it's smooth, it's just kinda pointless
The midcourse brake run is necessary. The helix that comes after it is quite intense. To the point where a common occurrence is people black out at that point due to the intense G forces. If you did that helix at the speed the ride was at before the brake run, the forces would increase and would cause more harm to people. Someone has already died after riding this due to a brain aneurysm that was either caused by the helix or the helix made it worse, there was an issue. They don’t put these brake runs to ruin the fun, it’s for safety.
for me i only rode it twice, the "airtime" hill didn't do anything. Plus this is at my home park so i go once every month. its not my favorite ride at the park but i think it has potential
I really enjoyed Titan after my first few rides, but now I know much more and have more coaster riding experience, so I wonder if it'd still be as high on my list
I found it fun, for a short wait. When I went it was often 5 mins to walk on, and to just hop on it was fine enough. I knew there was little air but I DID expect it to be more forceful...but the drop is fun I like a shallow drop sometimes because it feels like you fall really long. I do wish the MCBR was less intense so you could build up more speed and it's more forceful but yeah it's a 6.5, worth it for a short line. It was my #3 at the park behind FT and Tatsu. But X2 was closed and TC wasn't open yet. Well maybe 4th behind RR.

I think the issue with the drop isn't more that it doesn't gradually curve downwards and instead is just a straight drop downwards. This is why there isn't a lot of airtime generated

I rode Goliath one time and liked it and thought it had good airtime at like 2 points and good intensity but it was a cold, rainy night so that could've made it faster or something

I don't really understand everyone ragging on Goliath. The drop is so long you actually feel like you are going in a drop, unlike things like I305, which is over WAY too quickly. It's glossy smooth. It is also insanely intense near the end, giving 4.5 g's for a solid 6 seconds, which is almost unheard of, and is a generally fun ride.

When Goliath initially opened, there was no mid-course brake run. It was slowed down, because people where passing out due to too much force. I do agree that it completely killed that part of the ride though.
That makes sense. My sister was greying out even with the mid course brake run so I can imagine how bad it must’ve been without it.
It’s kinda sad how much Goliath sucks, because I think the giant sign in front and station and trains and overall vibe of it is really cool
