I used to be an operator on this ride and it makes me so happy when people notice how hard our crew is working!! ((the last seat is DEFINITELY the best place to sit))
I was there today, and they didn’t seem to be trying to make them race, but there were also only 2 trains, and I feel like that makes it even more difficult to properly sync.
I adored the old Colossus with an intense nostalgic love and I was heartbroken when I heard it was closing. Then I heard this new ride was replacing/updating the old and I was suspicious. Then, finally, I rode it and I was blown away. I am so glad to see the love for this ride from Coaster Studios and from people in the comment section like CoasterGuy. And I'm glad that there are real coaster enthusiasts capable of dropping the old Cedar Point vs. Magic Mountain binary opposition whereby you have to choose one and denigrate the other, and instead we have fans who can just open-mindedly appreciate any ride wherever it is, and see that both these parks are amazing for what they do. I have been on coasters all over the country, and currently TC is my favorite -- simply because, as Taylor put it, it's probably the most fun.
I share your sentiments about our beloved Colossus. I didn’t Beloit at first when they said they were closing it. I said I would sign whatever petition was out there to save it. I basically grew up with this coaster. I know it sound silly but the good memories and the thrills shared on Colossus are unforgettable and incredible. Even when they put the block break over that double down camelback I still loved Colossus. It could do no wrong as far as I was concerned. I wished I would have ridden it one last time before it closed. It’s a decision I will always regret. When I first saw the new Twisted version I actually cried. What have they done to my beloved Colossus? It was massive in its prime! I guess I was expecting to see both drop hills still the same. The first one still looked the same only with steel tracks. It didn’t have the figure 8 course but it was still a racer. It instead of the 2nd big drop bill that’s where the twist came in in Twisted Colossus. After riding it for first time and having a good cry on the lift hill I had the same exact holy *hit WTF reaction I did when riding classic Colossus the first time. That confirmed to me that the spirit of Colossus lives within Twisted Colossus.
I have ridden 449 different roller coasters and in my opinion Twisted Colossus is one of the best. I personally counted more airtime moments than displayed on the stats in the queue. Those stats said 18 moments of airtime. I counted 20 moments.
+CanadaCoasterFan yet to ride voyage. El toro is amazing and is one of my favourite wooden coasters but I don't believe it beats Twisted Colossus. Skyrush. Well I have ridden that and it has the nickname thighcrush for a reason.
So grateful that I was able to ride with you on 4 out of 5 of those rides!!! One of the highlights of my life being able to meet someone I've been watching on TH-cam for almost 3 years and then getting to ride with them on my favorite roller coaster numerous times! Glad you enjoyed it!
This is hands down my favorite roller coaster I've ever been on! I'm a diehard wood coaster fan and hybrid coasters take everything I love about wood to the next level and beyond. This ride is so long and twisty, it's just a blast from start to finish. I wish I could take it home to the east coast with me and ride it all the time!
The best experience I've had on any amusement park was in this roller coaster, the park was almost closing and we were the very last people who rode that roller coaster that day, and so no one was waiting in line and the employee was super cool so I got to ride THREE TIMES IN A ROW without even leaving the trains, it was freaking awesome and he also did that with the people in thw other train, there was no people waiting so this awesome guy sinc the trains so we raced EVERY SINGLE TIME, it was truly something unbeliavable, i dont know who that employee was but thank you for giving me that awesome experience
Was just at SFMM, and TC is badass. Talk about ejector seat air! And you're right, dueling is absolutely amazing. There is just nothing quite like TC. I too thought the second lift hill might screw up the ride. I didn't think it did at all. To me, it's just like the second act of an amazing show. I couldn't get enough of this ride. Love it!
I've ridden TC in the rain (yes, it happens sometimes in LA) and on a day when the car thermometer said 118 in the parking lot (that also happens in LA). Both days TC was walk on and running three trains but it almost never dueled. On crowded days with long lines it has been dueling consistently like you described.
Also, had a trip to bring my lil cousin here to go on his first real roller coasters. Waiting in line for this ride --- "Wait, you said it would go upside-down. It's a wooden coaster, it can't go upside-down", "Yeah it does", "No it doesn't".... "Okay then" Get off the ride, "CAN WE GO AGAIN!"
Yeah my home park too there’s really no other ride with strong ejector in the next 300 miles except for ghost rider at Knotts. Twisted is really the only ride at sfmm that gives strong ejector
Just rode twisted colossus for the first time today on my first sfmm trip ever and Jesus Christ that ride is absolutely amazing. 4 years after the opening and its smooth like butter and the airtime is amazing
By far, my favorite roller coaster. Even those not-so-little bumps in the beginning are super fun and always get me smiling! It's hard to imagine a better experience!
This was my 16th credit and I will never forget the insanely intense airtime of the back seat of this monster. Let me add that there isn’t ANYTHING to hold on to and that just adds to the INSANITY of it! Best roller coaster I’ve ridden by FAR. I can’t express how amazing this ride is!
This is one of my top rides. I live in the bay area and I will drive 4 hours to go on this. The back seat is definitely the best, because you fly down the first drop and get so much airtime. One of the most fun rides I've ever been on. Plus if you are going to wait 2 hours to go on a coaster, this is the best bang for your buck.
you are so correct on every aspect of this ride...its the best in the park..... i rode it only once and it was at night in the front....and was awesome....my woman thought she was falling out....lol i had to explaine to her as we were going up the second lift that she was not falling out it was airtime.... i even reached over and pushed down her bar to make sure and she was fine....i had to explaine airtime to her and yes it had alot...the designer of this did a great job.....it will always be in my top coasters.....
well i got to go one this and this is amazeballs. so much more enjoyable than what it used to be, the zero g stall is fun without leaving you hanging. this is what this ride needed. so amazing one of my all time favorites. super smooth. would ride over and over again. if i could i would ride it all day.
I was there today, and they didn’t seem to be trying to make them race, but there were also only 2 trains, and I feel like that makes it even more difficult to properly sync.
The craziest part of this whole ride is the restraints. You have nothing to hold onto and have no choice other than to put your arms up and enjoy the ride. The high 5 element on the blue side is an indescribable sensation.
Love your videos and reviews! Taylor here, too. I had very high expectations for this ride, and was sadly underwhelmed. When we raced on one side, it was really fun and unique. But over far too quickly. I did appreciate the staff working hard to get it to race.
I have ridden this a lot, and have raced a lot, but only one time has it been perfect. For the entire ride, well, for the green side it was only half the time cuz it goes twice. For the whole blue side, we were waving an laughing at each other the whole time. It was awesome! On the cork screw with the crazy hangtime we were looking up at them and laughing at them.
This ride bleeeew me away! It was my first time in this type of coaster and I wasn't expecting it at all. I proudly say that it was my favourite coaster in MM.
Shoot,I think you were there at the same time I was as the ride operator was so generous to race all the trains, We had two duals in one ride! the best parts probably have to be the racing,High five banks and Top gun stall!!! this is my second favorite ride!
Rode it for the 1st time a couple weeks ago, front and back, airtime over the first drop and the first big hill before the high five is unbelievable, just look at people's faces when the enter the station. Crew operations were very impressive.
My very first Six Flags ride, let me tell you I was not prepared for how incredible it was. It’s one of the only roller coasters where I came off trembling with excitement.
I rode this about a week ago with my friend on the ride before us, and WE RACED! I have a video of it on my own channel, even though you cant really see the race as well. But that did make it so much more fun, especially given the fact that I was unaware that we would be racing. Seeing the previous videos, i thought there were going to be two separate stations, and there wasnt only 1 station, but we got to go around it twice! Probably the funnest ride in that part with the exception of maybe Tatsu.
i still have memories of the original colossus layout and I remember that first drop put my stomach in my throat. that said, I will be heading to six flags next month with a friend of mine and will be going on this
Love it. I rode it with my friend in the front row. When we started it the hill the first time we rode it, we saw on the back row of the other side was my cousin I have not seen in 4 years! The ride was also a reuniteation and we were trash talking each other the whole ride until we got to the next lift and they ended.
I was just there on a Monday and it was dead there. The operators were letting me re-ride the whole time I was there. They were only running 2 trains so I was always racing when I was on the green side. It was awesome because I was just watching the other people on the other train. It was so much fun.
love this ride but hate how it only duels 1/3 of the time cuz usually the operators don't enforce the 30 second boarding, they should put up signs in the station for quick boarding and rider cooperation, and then the coaster would always duel and the lines would be fast- kill two stones with one bird
I love Twisted Colossus so much that I actually cried tears of jot while riding it in the front row on June 7, 2016. The air time felt awesome when the ride was going up to the high five element, and the drops were very fun and fast. I rode it 3 times: 1st, The trains were dueling while I was on the green side. 2nd, I rode it in the front row. And 3rd, I rode it at night.
Kyle TheCartoonGuy I cried when I was in the parking lot watching it go. Knowing that was once the longest hybrid coaster, and it was designed by Alan S. The most legendary coaster designer ever. I cried walking up to it. I even cried going up the lift hill. Crazy how much a coaster can change someone even emotionally.
This roller coaster is amazing. You get so much airtime. I have only been on this once because every time I go, there is always a long line for this ride.
hey Taylor i was wondering if you consider RMC wooden roller coaster i cant stand people who say they are i have nothing against RMC i just think there coasters should be considered different from a traditional woodie. personally i just call them hybrids. what do you consider it
Taylor Bybees quote of the day: "I don't have a preference of blue side to green side, i think they are both wonderful and in general i think this is a rollercoaster that six flags magic mountain just *blue* out of the park.
I think the scoring system for RMC's should be different because if like you said, TC isn't dueling it gets a 9, that makes it worse than New Texas Giant, yet it's better, if you disagree then that's fine, i'm just saying that may not line up correctly.
TC is #2 in my RMC category only behind NTG. TC is #4 in my overall USA Steel list of 82. I also give it a 10. Only after I ride Lightning Rod (next week) and that coaster is running two trains all the time will LR take that spot. But right now. TC has it, and will keep it the rest of this year. The reasons this coaster is so great, is the ride length (4990 feet). There's the future answer for the suits reading this from CF or SF. Make another that's 6 or 7k feet in length. Then they will always duel if the crew is good.
There’s one issue to this ride that made me a little nervous and that’s the safety establishments on the car seating. I understand it’s a wooden rollercoaster, but because it includes a couple inversions it’d feel safer having the handle bar and a headrest included. Having rode this the first time, I had to hold onto the sides the entire ride :o
The fact you haven't ridden on the original Colossus, makes me feel better on not being able to ride the original myself. I had the opertunity but didn't end up riding it because I was the only non-gp in my youth group and no one else wanted to ride it. Oh well at least I got to ride most of the other coasters! Those being Viper (loved it), Tatsu (fav coaster ever), Ninja (not as good as Vortex, but still awesome), Scream (loved it), and Goliath (was ok).
This seems to be lower ranked/regarded on the list of RMCs but I thought it was insane. So much ejector, getting thrown around, good pace and while some gripe about the 2nd lift killing the pace I didn't think that. To me it was basically a re-ride but you didn't have to get off and back on. Sadly there was no dueling, not even close but I went on a dead day. Was still great and hey I'll take being able to walk onto this ride 4 times in a row! What a ride, IDK why some have said its lower on the intensity/not as insane...I thought it was quite wild.
Honestly, I thought Iron Rattler was better, but this was really good! Thought some of the turns were kinda rough, but I absolutely LOVED this one. 9/10!
this is my second favorite at six flags magic mountain and second favorite i have ridden. the reason i like tatsu more is because i absolutly love B&M flyers
I learned about the Screampunk District in this video, and now that I know that it exists, I want to go to Magic Mountain more than ever since steampunk is one of the coolest (pretty underrated in my book) genres ever! Oh, and to ride Twisted Colossus, and all the other coasters there.
I visited my friends in California and we went to six flags, and twisted colussus was the best roller coaster I've ever ridden in my life. I live the Busch gardens Williamsburg area, and it easily tops all the coaster at BGW
I would’ve actually given it a 10. This coaster is just flawless! Great airtime, it’s long, intense, has cool inversions, and they duel! 10/10 for me :)
We need a new top 10/15/20 for your top coasters man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will that come out some time in October, when a lot of parks will shut down for the season?
A high five element is on a racing/dueling coaster when the tracks bank in towards each other (left side banks right, right side banks left) so the riders could throw their hands up and high five each other while sideways.
One thing I've noticed about this ride is that it seems to almost always have one of the shortest lines in the entire park even though it's one of the best.
I must have gotten lucky then. The last 2 times I went there we rode it multiple times because it was the only good coaster with under a 30 minute wait times. X2, Goliath, Full Throttle, New Revolution, Tatsu, Superman, Riddler, and even Batman were all 60-90 minutes. Haven't ridden Terminator because it's been closed the last 3 times I've been. :( Note: You excited about Steel Vengeance?
I used to be an operator on this ride and it makes me so happy when people notice how hard our crew is working!! ((the last seat is DEFINITELY the best place to sit))
Jessica Labonog I sat on the very back and it was frickin awesome
back is the best feels like your gonna fall off and die
I like the front
I was there today, and they didn’t seem to be trying to make them race, but there were also only 2 trains, and I feel like that makes it even more difficult to properly sync.
Haven’t ridden the bakc but the front was already amazing
I was the lead at this ride when you were there! i saw you and i made sure it raced everytime you were on it! haha
thanks! It really made the ride experience much better because of it!
Coaster Studios do you remember seeing him? 👀
What a hero
I adored the old Colossus with an intense nostalgic love and I was heartbroken when I heard it was closing. Then I heard this new ride was replacing/updating the old and I was suspicious. Yeah. I have. You know there are people who have ridden over 1000 so 449 isn't that many.
It kinda sucks that the restraints ruin it :(
+Fury325 Doug How do they?
+CanadaCoasterFan yet to ride voyage. El toro is amazing and is one of my favourite wooden coasters but I don't believe it beats Twisted Colossus. Skyrush. Well I have ridden that and it has the nickname thighcrush for a reason.
CoasterGuy The metal buckle digs into your thigh on practically every airtime momevt. Calf bar is unnecessary and annoying.
So grateful that I was able to ride with you on 4 out of 5 of those rides!!! One of the highlights of my life being able to meet someone I've been watching on TH-cam for almost 3 years and then getting to ride with them on my favorite roller coaster numerous times! Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for hanging with us Trevor- riding Twisted Colossus was definitely a highlight of my summer too!
+Coaster Studios thank u so much for this its one of the best rides that i ever rode
Literally one of the best rides I've ever been onin my entire life. You have to ride it in the front AND the back. The back is a new experience!
This is hands down my favorite roller coaster I've ever been on! I'm a diehard wood coaster fan and hybrid coasters take everything I love about wood to the next level and beyond. This ride is so long and twisty, it's just a blast from start to finish. I wish I could take it home to the east coast with me and ride it all the time!

one time I went on the twisted colossus and me and my dad were on the blue side and my mom, sister, and my brother and we raced, it was awesome
Also, had a trip to bring my lil cousin here to go on his first real roller coasters. Waiting in line for this ride --- "Wait, you said it would go upside-down. It's a wooden coaster, it can't go upside-down", "Yeah it does", "No it doesn't".... "Okay then"

PERFECT 10. This is my home park and its my top priority over the other coasters.
Yeah my home park too there’s really no other ride with strong ejector in the next 300 miles except for ghost rider at Knotts. Twisted is really the only ride at sfmm that gives strong ejector

Twisted Colossus is my favorite RMC and one of my favorite coasters period.
This is one of my top rides. I live in the bay area and I will drive 4 hours to go on this. The back seat is definitely the best, because you fly down the first drop and get so much airtime. One of the most fun rides I've ever been on.
Plus if you are going to wait 2 hours to go on a coaster, this is the best bang for your buck.
i think there should be a brake on the lift hill so the green or blue can race
interesting idea
yeah cuz it doesn't really race as much anymore
Yes. I agree with you that TC is a 10 if it is racing. This ride absolutely needs to race in order for you to get the full ride experience!!
you are so correct on every aspect of this ride...its the best in the park.....
i rode it only once and it was at night in the front....and was awesome....my woman thought she was falling out....lol i had to explaine to her as we were going up the second lift that she was not falling out it was airtime.... i even reached over and pushed down her bar to make sure and she was fine....i had to explaine airtime to her and yes it had alot...the designer of this did a great job.....it will always be in my top coasters.....
well i got to go one this and this is amazeballs. so much more enjoyable than what it used to be, the zero g stall is fun without leaving you hanging. this is what this ride needed. so amazing one of my all time favorites. super smooth. would ride over and over again. if i could i would ride it all day.
I was there today, and they didn’t seem to be trying to make them race, but there were also only 2 trains, and I feel like that makes it even more difficult to properly sync.
YES YOU GAVE IT A 10. MY LIFE IS COMPLETE THAT U LOVE MY #1 COASTER

This ride bleeeew me away! It was my first time in this type of coaster and I wasn't expecting it at all. I proudly say that it was my favourite coaster in MM.
This really is one of the best rides in the park, which is really saying something, given the pedigree of Magic Mountain.
Shoot,I think you were there at the same time I was as the ride operator was so generous to race all the trains, We had two duals in one ride! the best parts probably have to be the racing,High five banks and Top gun stall!!! this is my second favorite ride!
This is my #1 bucket list coaster. It just looks so fun.
This is my #1 favorite roller coaster! I even went on it for my birthday on August 21st, 2015 and August 21st, 2016! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!
Out of all the RMCs I have yet to ride, this and Steel Vengeance are my most anticipated for sure!
I rode this about a week ago with my friend on the ride before us, and WE RACED! I have a video of it on my own channel, even though you cant really see the race as well. But that did make it so much more fun, especially given the fact that I was unaware that we would be racing. i still have memories of the original colossus layout and I remember that first drop put my stomach in my throat. that said, I will be heading to six flags next month with a friend of mine and will be going on this
When I went to Magic Mountain, Twisted Colossus was under construction. It is at the top of my coaster bucket list. I hope I can get back there soon.
Love it. I rode it with my friend in the front row. When we started it the hill the first time we rode it, we saw on the back row of the other side was my cousin I have not seen in 4 years! The ride was also a reuniteation and we were trash talking each other the whole ride until we got to the next lift and they ended.

They were only running 2 trains so I was always racing when I was on the green side. It was awesome because I was just watching the other people on the other train. It was so much fun.
I LOVE this ride! It is so smooth. This was also the first coaster that went upside down. It was so smooth and amazing!! Totally recommend!!!
I rode this about 4 years ago. Never had ridden anything like it before. Not even close. It felt like I was riding a cartoon coaster.
I always sit in the back row. THE BACK ROW IS AMAZING!!!! (Also, love from Cali)
love this ride but hate how it only duels 1/3 of the time cuz usually the operators don't enforce the 30 second boarding, they should put up signs in the station for quick boarding and rider cooperation, and then the coaster would always duel and the lines would be fast- kill two stones with one bird
Favorite coaster ever!!!!! My son and I rode it 4 times in a row!!! We also have our house decorated steampunk!
This is absolutely my most favorite ride in ALL of Six Flags. This dude is absolutely right!
Another cool thing about this coaster is that even if the line is all the way at the end of the station, it moves quick.
The most legendary coaster designer ever. in my opinion this is the greatest rmc
This roller coaster is amazing. You get so much airtime. I have only been on this once because every time I go, there is always a long line for this ride.
Everyone I talked to while I was there liked the green track, but I prefer the blue by a significant amount. The airtime is just incredible.
Is it in your top 10?
YES!
Coaster Studios cool do You Know which Place?
Yoshi 12345 Yes
Coaster Studios and?
hey Taylor i was wondering if you consider RMC wooden roller coaster i cant stand people who say they are i have nothing against RMC i just think there coasters should be considered different from a traditional woodie. personally i just call them hybrids. what do you consider it
I rode this once and the duel lined up at the drop row for row. It was AMAZING :D
Taylor Bybees quote of the day: "I don't have a preference of blue side to green side, i think they are both wonderful and in general i think this is a rollercoaster that six flags magic mountain just *blue* out of the park.

As a old fan of this coaster, I would love to take on this 40 year old classic.😀
I've ridden this too and I completely agree with your thoughts. Couldn't have said it better in my own words :)
You are actually always racing. It's just sometimes the other train has a bit of a headstart.
My favorite coaster everr
TC is #2 in my RMC category only behind NTG.
TC is #4 in my overall USA Steel list of 82. I also give it a 10.
Only after I ride Lightning Rod (next week) and that coaster is running two trains all the time will LR take that spot. But right now. TC has it, and will keep it the rest of this year. I’ve ridden 20-40 coasters
#1 right here
Glossy smooth
Crazy Airtime
Also hangtime
And racing puts this ride at -2
this makes me really want to ride it..
OMG looks amazing
I just rode it yesterday, I got a race both times and the back seat. AMAZING!!!!!!
Awesome review of Twisted Colossus! It does look like one of the best RMCs out there and probably the most fun :)
The current best RMC in my opinion is Wildfire. It used to be Goliath but it got changed
So is it just a huge layout or does the track switch?
I haven't been on this ride yet, in fact, I've never been on an RMC before, but it looks awesome and I'm going this year!
I hope after Covid gets control that cedar fair does this to the Racer at Kings island
I'm so excited to go there next spring
Wow I didn't know that it raced that much. Also, excited for the ameican Thunder
i love the TC crew. 3 train operation and they rush to race. makes the line move really fast
Honestly, I thought Iron Rattler was better, but this was really good! Thought some of the turns were kinda rough, but I absolutely LOVED this one. 9/10!
Great review of my number 4 coaster
this is my second favorite at six flags magic mountain and second favorite i have ridden. the reason i like tatsu more is because i absolutly love B&M flyers
Thats true. I need to make it out to kings dominion sometime.
They just don't have a very big coaster collection. But the coasters they do have are all pretty damn good.
I really want to ride intimidator 305
CanadaCoasterFan I totally agree. Literally none of the coasters are that good. I can't even ride Alpengeist more than once because it is so rough.
I would’ve actually given it a 10. This coaster is just flawless! Great airtime, it’s long, intense, has cool inversions, and they duel! 10/10 for me :)
The only race where it doesn’t matter who wins and the loser is just as happy as the winner! Lol
I am grateful magic mountain is one of my two home parks (fave ride is twisted colossus, made me love roller coasters when I was scared of heights.
My fav RMC I've ridden
Great video Taylor! Congrats
+coasterstudios when will you be coming to Lagoon again?
i rode twisted colossus and the airtime is incredible
Wow. I'm kinda upset that we skipped this coaster on my trip. I guess I'll have to make sure we do it next year
Will there be an X2 review?
yes do thisss
X2 ♥
We need a new top 10/15/20 for your top coasters man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will that come out some time in October, when a lot of parks will shut down for the season?
Umm... On "The only highfive in the western hemisphere" what about Gemini at Cedar Point
agreed
you can actually touch the other riders hands. me & my brother do it all the time on the 2nd turnaround
A high five element is on a racing/dueling coaster when the tracks bank in towards each other (left side banks right, right side banks left) so the riders could throw their hands up and high five each other while sideways.
King of Ice and the Grand national at Blackpool pleasure beach
King of Ice gemini doesn't have a high five element
a high five element is where they bank towards each other, Gemini dosent have a high five.
When can we expect the top 15 rollercoaster 2016 edition
I hope I'll be able to ride this coaster one day!
Will twisted colossus close in the rain? I’m wondering about that
One thing I've noticed about this ride is that it seems to almost always have one of the shortest lines in the entire park even though it's one of the best.
Really? Every time I go to Magic Mountain it always has one of the longest.
Note: You excited about Steel Vengeance?
I can't wait to go on that with my cozens
This is one of my favorites rmc
I have ridden Joker and this and by far this is better. Don't get me wrong, the joker is really good but this is amazing
LOVE THIS RIDE
the only reason I don't put it higher on my list (#6) is because of the lull on the second hill. only complaint
Looks like a really good coaster unfortunately I live in the UK so we have no rmc but we have the smiler
I’m confused? I live by Hershey park and the lightning racer duel every time. Why would they not send them out at the same time?
