  • 12 Batman clones were built around the world, all originating from the original at Six Flags Great America. Majority of these clones exist at Six Flags parks, but there's several around the world that do not share the 'Batman' name. In this review we'll discuss the model and how it holds up after all the years! After all, this was the first ever Inverted roller coaster!

Ok here's the thing about clones. Most park goers will only ever get to ride the one at their nearest park. They don't care how many other parks have it because they'll never get to go to those parks. They're just happy to have it at their park. I think some enthusiasts forget that it's a privilege to be able to travel to enough parks to get tired of cloned rides.

The original roller coaster at Six Flags Great America was partially devised by the park's general manager Jim Wintrode. Batman: The Ride was the world's first inverted roller coaster when it opened in 1992, and has since been awarded Coaster Landmark status by the American Coaster Enthusiasts. Still an amazing coaster for a 29 year old design. Don't forget there are an additional 18 inverted B&M coasters that are listed as "Custom" instead of "Batman" in the roller coaster database. (Cedar Fair parks, Busch Gardens, etc.)

50mph feels like nearly 70mph because of how tight the elements are placed. The one near me at Magic Mountain is one of my favorites! Also, mm did once had a backwards train and my friends and I rode that 5 times back to back! There was no one in line towards the end of the night, so that’s why we never had to get off the train.

I dont care that these are clones, in fact I’m glad cuz they are so good I want to ride them more, I’ve only ridden the one at great adventure, but man that was on a next level of intensity for a B&M invert, it’s the only coaster I’ve ever walked off with numb legs cuz of the forces, the rides pacing is just mental, the positives and whip are top notch, and getting whipped through those vertical loops feels illegal, when cedar point was building raptor they asked B&M to make the ride more drawn out because after cedar fair executives got off Batman they couldn’t even walk it was so intense, inverts can be fun if they are drawn out, but at the end of the day they thrive off being compact, and that’s why Batman the ride is my favorite invert I’ve ridden, yeah I like it more than banshee, raptor, dueling dragons and great bear, there is definitely better inverts I haven’t ridden, but Batman clones are still top tier, also all of the inverts u listed as slow have 7 car trains so that’s probably why

I 100% agree. My home park is Six Flags Great America and I am so thankful to have not only an intense B&M Invert but the first one ever built. These clones are so underated. They may not be super tall or super fast but boy o boy they are very intense. 5 very whippy inversions and strong posative Gs. For how small and compact they are, they truly do pack in a massive punch. Great review.

Too many people discount these because they're cloned. I agree with you that this is a mistake. As good as some of the newer inverts are there's something about the full-on intensity of this layout that is just awesome.

This coaster has a special place in my heart. Great adventure was my home park growing up and I remember when they were building this coaster in the movie town section by stuntman’s free fall. Getting off free fall I remember going to the preview section of the constriction area with the Gotham facade starting to take shape. I was in complete awe and couldn’t wait for this ride to be built. The next season I came back and couldn’t wait to ride and it blew away expectations. I never saw a ride that did that it was amazing. Now magic mountain is my home park and I still love riding Batman. The pacing , the intensity. It just hauls. And it brings back such young fun coaster memories for me. This coaster is what got me into being such a coaster enthusiast. I unfortunately like yourself have never caught it in a backwards run. I have friends who have at great adventure during a fright fest season long ago and always talk about how great it was. 🦇 4 eva

That one was my first invert, and both my brother and I had to take a minute to recover because we were so dizzy and had to catch our breath. I wasn’t as much of an enthusiast then, so I didn’t know how intense it was gonna be. But just watching it it was HAULING. Now that I’ve ridden one here in Jersey at Great Adventure, there is most definitely a huge difference on how it ran vs the one in Georgia, it was still intense, but not nearly as intense as the one over Georgia!

I rode BATMAN The Ride in its debut year at Six Flags Great America and instantly knew it would be a classic. 12 clones of this doesn't surprise me at all. It's one of my favorite experiences, which I've ridden many, many times since. (Although it has been a few years since my last ride. I should put it on my list for this year!)
I also think it marked the beginning of a new era in roller coaster design akin to Arrow Dynamics' pioneering use of tubular steel track in the 1970's. Side note: SFGA has one of their classic creations too, the Demon!

My first batman clone was the one at over Georgia in December and holy crap was that awesome. I feel like the 4 others I've ridden since then have not quite lived up to that one to the point that I may have peaked on that one ☹

The invert is by far my favourite B&M model and batman the ride looks good, much like all the other inverts I’ve ridden.

I rode Georgia in mid-March one year in a mostly empty train on a cold morning, and it was slow. Even the helix wasnt even forceful. I wouldve taken some footage to show you, but we all know how that goes...

I find it interesting that the one in Georgia is your favorite. I first rode that specific one in 98, the year after it debuted. This ride (along with Montu the year before) help me gain my liking of roller coasters. I even remembered how they advertised this ride, with your feet hanging. And the promise of feeling like your swinging around like Batman.

I love how whippy batman the ride is. That's what makes it so fun. If you go to ride it, I highly recommend you ride this at night it felt twice as fast even though it wasn't actually going faster. I rode it during holiday in the park at night and that was the most fun ride. PS When they did batman the ride backwards I got too motion sick. The ride was just too wild to be going backwards.

I've only been on the one at Great Adventure it's a FANTASTIC ride I love it! I was on it when it rode backwards I thought it was pretty cool but it still prefer running forward. Can you please do a review for the Superman Ultimate Flight clones?

As someone with my home park of Six Flags Fiesta Texas, it has been running insane this summer. There was one night in particular that was crazy. When riding it over and over again, you can feel it speeding up every time especially in the morning. But definitely before this yeah I thought it was just ehh

The backwards experience was pretty amazing. It's a shame they just seemed to dump off doing it once La Ronde was meant to be next. I was hoping they'd keep it as a continuous circulation. I wouldn't be surprised if it returned now as a way to pretend there's something new other "the experience" too. "Goliath" definitely suffers from too much transport, but thankfully it's still solid and not rough. I can't even say I've been too highly impressed by most other custom B&M inverts "over it." Alphengeist hell yeah for sure that's an experience and "Banshee" plays a different game too. I know I haven't been "worldwide" but like looking at cedar fair's offering ones, most are good but some are less intense and somewhat less thrilling. Now if only SFGADV would give ours a paint job and some air conditioning (like great america's got a few years back), the experience would be 11/10!

My home park is Six flags Great Adventure. I done this ride a lot .I remember when it was black in color and the theming was really good . I have only one done other Six Flags Magic Mountain. The line at Great Adventure are long and your right it dose get hot in the line as you get closer to the loading station. As a ride it’s one of the parks best coasters way better then Superman ultimate flight. I go back as far as to say I do miss Batman and Robin the chiller coaster that I think I saw in the background of one of the videos. I knew that coaster had many many problems and they never could get it right and the dark knight coaster they placed it with is not as good but I will say Batman is a classic for Great Adventure. Thanks to the 90s what a great year

I enjoy Batman the ride at SFOT. Comfortable seats, no head-banging despite OTSRs, and the ride is very thrilling and has excellent pacing. My favorite invert so far is great bear at Hershey park. I wouldn’t mind marathoning Batman the ride on a slow day at SFOT.

      Texas has weird quirks
Example phoenix used to be in San Antonio and same with the worlds tallest wood coaster. In w they have a decent gci and a steep woodie.
Another example is Texas tornado and the wild mouse with no restraints.
3: Sfot has the most abscure layout ever.
4:fiesta Texas is in a cave.
5:Houston has no zoning laws so there are homes within a block of boardwalk bullit

Absolutely SFoG is great and I have ridden the one at Jazzland SFN before it was flooded and I guess installed at Fiesta, TX. It was never good at least to me. I always tell the story on how the opening summer at the park in GA I was too short to ride and my mom, left me crying by the exit to ride with my best friend.
