I took my daughter to a Vince Gill concert many years ago. She was 7 at the time. We had tix to a meet and greet dinner prior to the show. She was the only child in the dining room. There was a long line of people waiting to get a pic and autograph from Vince. I decided we would just stay at our table and let it all die down and maybe catch him as he was almost done. After a little bit, he excused himself from the line and came over to our table, got down on a knee and started talking to my daughter. Signed the cd cover we brought (When love finds you) and took pics with us. Nothing but class.
Thank you for sharing your experience with Mr. Gill. It sounds like many of the things I have heard about him. I have seen him in concert and he it an amazingly gifted talented man. Thank you so much for stopping by to watch and listen to this video :))
"Warmth of the Sun" IMHO is the most hauntingly beautiful song to ever be delivered by the Beach Boys. Yet somehow, Vince Gill is able to take it to another level while paying tribute and remaining faithful to the original. All with the seeming ease of a stroll in the park! Great performance and great post. Many thanks for both!
Well said. Gill in an interview states he did he his best work when he was just outside his comfort zone. He may look cool here but I bet he is nervous.

Oh, I so agree with you. What a pure song, what a pure vocal. The harmonies are beautifully the Beach Boys. I never get tired. I listen to it over and over.
Possibly the greatest performance in music history. Not hyperbole. Brian’s original song is brilliant. Vince Gill’s beautiful voice take it into the stratosphere.
Effortlessly done, with his hand in his pocket!! This is an incredibly hard song to sing and it didn't seem to even challenge him. Vince is fantastic...
You are so right... I make a lot of vocal covers...I've been working on this one for a while... One of the hardest to sing without forcing it... Somewhere in between regular voice and falsetto... Vince is amazing!
I was originally unfamiliar with Vince Gill prior to this tribute concert. But he's won mad respect from me ever since this utterly flawless performance. It still gives me chills to listen to.
Go pull up any of his joints on TH-cam. You will not hear another voice like him. Incredible singer. FYI, also a phenomenal guitar player. Dude can pick it.
Yes ...ths is Brian's band. I have seen them 12 times since 2000. Some members have changed now in 2022 due to death , sickness resigning ( Taylor Mills) the blond lady.
What a tribute by Vince Gill to this phenomenal song by Brian Wilson..🫠 If ever a voice could enhance an already beautiful masterpiece.. Vince Gill's voice has done just that... so dreamy.🫠
I'm not a fan of country music or musicians, but Vince Gill did a wonderful job with his rendition of the Beach Boys song, The Warmth of the Sun. I very much enjoyed it!
As Mr Sinatra once said, " Folks, you can wait around & hope, but you'll not ever hear the likes of this, again. " He surely had Vince Gill, with BW's great, great band , in mind. -----WolfSky9, 75 y/o
Everything about this is right. Superb song, great band and an absolutely stellar lead vocal from Vince Gill. As close to perfection as live music can be. Blown away !
Written on 11-22-63. Brian Wilson said his mood became melancholy later that afternoon when he heard the bad news...and so he wrote about losing love, something teens could relate to.
Hi there. I believe the gentleman that looks like Christopher Cross is actually Jeffrey Foskett, who used to be in Brian's band. When he was heavy, he bore a strong resemblance to Cross.
I don't remember ever listening to this beautiful song prior to this 2001 tribute. Vince Gill killed it here and on "Surfs Up". What classics. What a musical gift Brian Wilson has been to us all.
"Warmth of the Sun" IMHO is the most hauntingly beautiful song to ever be delivered by ANYBODY! TRUTH. SOOOO Beautiful. My favorite song ever! Vince Gill & Brian Wilson's band do an AMAZING, beautiful version! My mom LOVED this version as do I. WONDERFUL!

A wonderful rendition, such a superb voice.I like the way Vince smiles at 1.58...as much as to say "Give me something difficult to sing will you, cop for this ! "
At a book signing in 2016, once I stepped up to get mine signed, I said to Brian, "I want you to know that The Warmth Of The Sun is one of my comfort blanket songs, in down times. He immediately looked up at me, smiled and thanked me. This cover by Vince goes right through you and another that is in my tenor wheel house vocally. Pay attention folks, these icons are slowly moving on to the next level. I have been lucky enough in life to have met all my heroes and for that I am eternally grateful 🙏
This was absolutely beautiful! I have loved The Beach Boys since the 1960’s, lucky enough to know their music since the beginning and this is one of my favorite songs by them. Vince Gil’s voice just placed it over the top!
Yes, I have been a Beach Boys fan from the beginning as well. Have seen them in concert more than 20 times over the years. Every one was very special. Thanks so much for watching :)
I had forgotten to give Vince a proper thank you for his earliest successes when he was with the Pure Prairie League, their "Live Taking the Stage" album was/is and forever will be on my playlists. They actually sounded much better live than on the studio album, and to anyone who listened to that live album knew Vince was going to be a phenomenal success.
I often wonder why God is interested in us or why Jesus would have thought humans worth saving then I hear music like this.... ,hear lyrics that wring tears from my heart and I think I know why
Brian began the melody for this Masterpiece on the evening of 11/22/1963 , a Friday I'll never forget. As he played it for Mike Love, the idea began in his mind, as how to approach the lyrics. he came upon the idea of a love that is lost, because the girl didn't feel the same way as the guy did. But instead of despairing, Mike turned it onto something hopeful, & indeed, beautifully sad. They created a pure 100% masterpiece. --------------MJL, 77 y/o
Yes, Vince's delivery of Brian Wilson's masterpiece is incredible. Same as when Willie Nelson brought the Beach Boys (minus Dennis - RIP) back together to perform it in the studio. If you've not seen that version, Google it. It shows what a jerk Mike Love is when he is attempting to tell Willie how to sing (OMG!). Willie and Vince are simply - class acts! Like Vince was when he stepped up to help the Eagles after we lost Glenn Frye. Thank you Vince!
Rest in peace Jeff Foskett, musician and vocalist for the Brian Wilson band and The Beach Boys, seen in this video playing acoustic guitar to the right of Vince Gill. Foskett did a marvelous version of this song in concert.
Absolutely brilliant vocal performance. I know the song is supposed to be optimistic, but Vince’s voice makes me hear the heartbreak. It’s beautiful sadness. If Vince ever leaves the Eagles, he would make a great Beach Boy.
Vince Gill has an extraordinary voice. He has a very good voice but he has the ability to blend with other voices is extraordinary. This song truly illustrates this - I never knew he could sing in a higher key. Does anyone know if he sang lead on Fallin' in Love and Amy while he was with the Pure Prairie League?

Gorgeous ----------one of BW's & Mike's finest, ever. A heart breaker, gorgeously done.
The story is that they wrote it upon hearing the news of the JFK assassination ... that very night
Mike? Who’s Mike? This is Brian Wilson through and through.
Best ever rendition of the warmth of the sun.
Really classy for Vince to turn around at 3:17 and give the band a round of applause. Their harmonies were awesome!
I think this is Brian's band he uses, although they don't mention who is playing here.
