To my mind, museum calf is meant to look like subtly aged leather, hence the name. Now it seems to be a catch all term for ever more elaborate patinas. These patinas are often dramatic but I doubt that leather would ever look like that naturally and don't really think it resembles the genuine museum calf. I would argue that the two hand patinaed examples are not museum calf. That has not stopped me from ordering a pair of MTO Meermin boots in their plum "museum shell" colour though.
Are there any differences between museum calf leather offered by zonta or ilcea?
