  • I love Carmina, I love museum calf leather, and I love the sleekness of an austerity brogue....combine all three and its something really special!!! I had this pair of Carminas and I was just never completely satisfied with the color. It just needed a little something extra to me. So I decided to treat myself to a custom patina and I couldn't be more happy with the outcome.
    Let me know what you think of these!

    Love the color! I’m going to try some oxblood starter dye and cordovan for darker layers and see how it goes

      I don't love Angelus cordovan in particular as it has too much of a brown hue to me. Love the oxblood for both Fiebings and Angelus and usually mix in black to darken

    Great job! Could you tell me what type of brush are you using and where you bought it, please?

      I mostly use e.l.f makeup brushes. The eyeshadow and foundation brushes in particular. They run around $2 from Target or Amazon etc. I like them better than craft paint brushes I've tried.

    Love the content. Quick question what is the leather lotion and what's your thought process for using it after you dye. Is that different from wiping with just alcohol

    • @mbshoedoc
      @mbshoedoc  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The thought is the leather is dry from the acetone that stripped it and the alcohol based dyes. So the Bick 4, Venetian shoe cream, pure polish conditioner or Saphir renovateur etc will rehydrate and remove the surface dye that didn't penetrate. You could remove surface dye with alcohol but that will dry even further and may pull off more color than you want.

    No sealer needed afterr the dye!

    • @mbshoedoc
      @mbshoedoc  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope the dye has penetrated into the leather. The conditioning lotion and wax remove any dye that isn't absorbed and the wax itself acts as a sealer too. I'm not sure if there is a sealer used for patina shoes but I have never needed or used one. I've done hundreds of pairs with no issue 👍
