I often get really stressed out while studying for a test because of the timetable, basically I have random subjects each day, but most of the times it's like monday science and tuesday science for no reason (I don't even know why they made it like that and it's so frustrating), so my teachers just put the test for the next day since most of them just go to another school to teach the year after. Veil's Summary Notes: 1. Multisensory Learning. We learn best when multiple senses are involved. Sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch. Even emotions since they are like touch, but for your brain. The way you apply this to your studies is by watching videos to study. In fact, one of the fastest and most effective ways to learn something is to watch a TH-cam video on it, and take notes as you go along (kind of like what I'm doing right now as I watch this video while taking notes in the comment section). This is effective because it uses both your auditory and visual senses. Turn on the transcription (CC) if you want to read text as well as listen. Plus taking notes while doing this actively consolidates that knowledge in your memory. WARNING ⚠ : - Don't get distracted with other TH-cam Videos as you do this. - Don't fight with someone in the comments. Just focus on taking your notes as you consume the video. Watch these videos while your brain forms connections, and then pause to write down the connections you've made (this is literally me right now lol). You can put the video speed to 1.5x or 2x if normal speed bores you, inorder to force your brain to focus, since it might miss important details otherwise. One cool hack is that when an exam question is related to the video you watched, you can just replay that video in your mind during the exam, and the answer will just show itself. Of course, this is assuming the video was visually stimulating, and not just text on wall. 2. Answers First. This means to do the quizzes at the end of the text-book FIRST. A lot of information in the textbook are fluff anyways, so looking at the questions and answers at the back will give you a good idea of what is actually important. It's best to only read the chapter summary FIRST as well at the back, as it will usually go over the main points. If your textbook doesn't have quizzes at the back, then ask your teachers for some. They'll gladly give you more work. If your goal is to ace the exams, then do these practice questions at the back. However, if your goal is to learn, then read the whole textbook. They might sound the same, but their end results are completely different. Overall, don't study the WHOLE topic chapter within a textbook. Just do the practice questions at the back, and return to the chapter only to read certain parts that help you answer these questions better. You can also do past paper questions if there are any. Most importantly, understand and memorize the answer structure. Know what the question wants, and look up that exact answer in its exact format, to memorize. Both the Questions & the Answers matter. Revise them. 3. What You Can Change. You know this already; cramming is bad, and it doesn't allow for information processing. So... Ask yourself the reasons which led to your current predicament, which will allow you to NOT fall into this pit of cramming again. Your thought process could go something like this: "Why did I procrastinate? What led me to laze around and not do my work? Was it due to my annoying mother always pestering me to study? Was it due to being bored and not finding motivation? In that case, what is my ultimate purpose in life that this studying will lead to? What is procrastinating even caused by? Was it due to me being disorganised? Did I just forget what date my test was on?
