Good idea mortising the joints in the bed frame, so it's not just the friction of lashings holding up your weight, they're just holding the rail in the notch. Also good way to tie the bamboo strips to the frame, lacing it up like that on several lines, keeps the strips from shifting and pinching you. That pillow looks a little hard for my tastes, I might have just tied up a bundle of dried grass (softer, quick to make, easy to replace when it flattens), but to each his own. Great project!

Mary Griffin Thanks for the reply. I checked out some bamboo cordage videos. Bamboo is very versatile. I would imagine that you could probably steam it too to make it more flexible and softer, but I don’t know for sure about the steaming part, I’m guessing.
