    Thank you for doing this. I have a 2020 F150 and have the same issue. Bought the metal Raptor guard a few months ago the zip ties just gave out so it’s time to install the metal one. Your video is great and straight forward. Thanks.

    I replaced mine a few years back with a Raptor cover. There were millions of these trucks sold between 2016-2019 and they all have this same problem. I cant understand why an aftermarket company has not made a bolt-on replacement out of HDPE plastic with a drain port so it does not need to be removed every 3000 miles. The steel Raptor cover is bad-ass but mine has rusted and I also hear vibrations no matter how tight those backing nuts are tightened. The HDPE plate would be ideal and there is a large market out there but nobody makes them.

    I replaced the diaper with this part you listed. On my 21 f150 XL the front frame brackets don’t line up. So I installed 6 of eight bolts. I may have to fabricate a couple of brackets since I won’t modify the frame. Working fine so far.

    Jus did my 2020. You can get away using the existing 8mm's but you have to heave the plate up and hold it so the bolt can catch.
    ... I did think I was missing something as the fiber/felt one sort of slots in between the 2 8mm anchor points, where the metal one doesn't.
    As far as I can tell, the metal just fits over top (?)

    Guys, I have a standard cab 2020 F150 with the 6’ bed. When I tried to install this metal replacement, I found I did not have the frame holes needed to attach the forward most side brackets. The rear brackets and forward screws look like they’d match but not the additional side brackets. Thoughts?

    • @IMissBionix
      @IMissBionix หลายเดือนก่อน

      Any update on what you chose to do? I've got a 2019 2.7L XLT SuperCab and noticed I don't have the front side mounting holes either. I haven't ordered the metal guard yet, so I'm wondering what I should do. I found someone on a forum with a newer F-150 without those holes say they're fine with just the smaller ones in the front and the ones in the rear. Still would like more opinions, though.

    • @MeShoo-c5p
      @MeShoo-c5p หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@IMissBionix Good morning! Yep, I know what you mean! I had the same issue but decided to use the forward mounting brackets; just didn't want to chance it by using just the smaller two front holes and the rear two side brackets....though I was likely being overly cautious! What I did was to mount the plate using the two front and two rear attachment points, and marked the location of where frame holes should be for the two forward side brackets. I then removed the plate, and used "rivnuts" to create attachment points. If you've never used these rivnuts, look them up!!! So after the rivnuts arrived, I selected two 3/8" units, drilled a 33/64" hole where I marked the frame, installed the rivnuts, and reinstalled the entire plate. This was VERY easy to do, and gives me peace of mind! Credit to a guy from the F-150 forum for putting me on to this solution.....please don't hesitate to ask questions!

    • @IMissBionix
      @IMissBionix หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MeShoo-c5p I appreciate the info. I'm not sure I feel too comfortable drilling holes into the frame, but if I don't have a choice ... How are oil changes with this setup? I read someone talk about how their rivnuts would just spin when trying to take the plate out.

    • @noneoybusiness589
      @noneoybusiness589 29 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I’m sure you’ll have nothing to worry about by drilling a single hole through the outer face of the H frame. Though this would need to be done on both sides in able to attach the forward side brackets of the plate, consider this…MANY heavier and similar size F-150’s already have holes in the areas we’re discussing, so structural integrity should not be a concern. Besides, the holes can be easily drilled with the truck sitting flat. Any rivnut spinning issues is simply a matter of the rivnut not being tightened properly during installation. Truly, the whole installation, from start to finish shouldn’t take more than an hour! As for oil changing, the plate can be pivoted down on the loosened rear bolts, but just as easily removed totally.
      Let me know if you have any questions!

    • @IMissBionix
      @IMissBionix หลายเดือนก่อน

      Which kind of cab do you have? Another commenter said he lacks the front mounting holes on a regular cab. I've got a 2019 2.7L XLT super cab (half-doors in the rear) with the same issue. I wonder if those holes are there by default on the crew cab (full four doors) and not on the regular/super. That's the only thing I can think of to explain why the truck in the video has them and mine doesn't. They're otherwise the same engine, trim level and model year.
      What did you decide on doing? I haven't ordered the metal one and I'm not sure what to do. I found someone on a forum with a newer F-150 without those holes say they're fine with just the smaller ones in the front and the ones in the rear. Still would like more opinions, though.

    Allen!! Welcome back bud. 1 suggestion get blue locktite put a couple of drops on each bolt 🔩 if you don't you might lose them and that cover could fall off and then you might have a bigger problem with all the damage. Don't go heavy with it just a few drops on each.

I do a lot of hunting and off roading so I ended up going with RCI skids all the way back to the transfer case and then one on the gas tank.
