I think enemies don't pick up their weapons because it would eat their turn to equip it, and their AI doesn't like that loss of value. Obviously they'd do more damage in the long term if they did, but the AI is pretty dumb about field hazards and stuff too, so it wouldn't surprise me. Love this guide! I like the way you explain things and dismiss other options, makes the video feel like a lot less than 25 minutes :)
I gotta make a point for the Alert feat. Youll almost always be first in pretty much every encounter and with such a high damage potential it means you can pretty much remove at least one enemy before the fight even starts. I pick it on every character have

I went 4 Barb/8 Fighter for Karlach as well in my play through. It was great being able to combine the utility of the Maneuvers with the damage and accuracy bonuses of the barbarian. Disarming strike is SOOO good - I loved using it on the iron sentinels.
3barb 6 battle master and 3 thief rogue would also be quite nice way of going with things. Not sure if I'll go with that or 4/8barb-fighter. Not too many feats on that build now that I think about it. Oh well. I'll flip a coin once i get to the late game.

Can I ask if I will get heavy armor profficiency if I multiclass into fighter after taking barbarian ? Or if I started lvl 1 as fighter to get the profficiency, woudl I loose on something later multiclassing into barbarian ?
Altough the bear heart dmg reduction is pretty damn good. I just loved charging all over the place with the Elk. Choo Choo Carlack hype train coming through! (literally as all the enemies in front will be prone)

Granted, I could go barb 4 rogue 3 rest fighter since i'm a berserker throw barb, but as much as I've read about barb they fall off really hard when act 3 is reached. Went full barb and then respec'd when I could go 4/5 with barb fighter and continued down fighter path to 4/8. Never getting surprised is not worth it, as it happens a handful of times throughout the game. And brutal critical feels fine to give up. Relentless Rage feels like a trap, my character (on tactician) isn't downed enough for this to mean much. The extra feats from fighter feels much more valuable. Also the increased mvmt isn't needed because I simply jump everywhere with my barb/warrior. Have a sorc/wiz give you haste and go nuts.
in the inner light village, there is a old lady vendor that sell cloth that give 20 STR which very OP for Karlch and help this build to reach target of max STR

If you already have 2 feats and confused what other feats to pick on your level 12, why did you choose fighter level 7? Wouldn't it be nicer if you choose barbarian level 5 and get extra attack and movement speed?
Correct! Zariel was reference the sub-race tiefling choice had you decided to make your own tiefling. Karlach is also a Zariel tiefling (check top right)

If I started with fighter then switched to barb would I still get same outcomes for dps? I just like fighter due to heavy armor but would I get penalized due to the barb mix? New to this
I wanna make a martial MC and I've been toying with pretty this build as well. Even with some variants; eagle + athleticism for dunkage or tiger for mega jumps and an aoe alternative. What I struggle to do though is to value this build compared to straight fighter 12 which seem to be the gold standard for a martial characters. It's basicly reckless strike, wildheart utility, speak with animals, dex advantage, rage damage migtation vs the third attack and some maneuvers from fighter and heavy armor. But everyone values extra attack above everything so I have trouble deciding. What is your take?
Personal preference. Third attack is really powerful so hard to say no against it. But being able to tank all damage (except physic) in the game is also really nice. And I valued being able to tank god over beating him 1 more time per round
No, extra attack features should not stack. There was / is a bug with warlocks deepend pact and extra attack stacking that should not work but they are patching that out in the next big one if they haven't already.
Its literally in a lot of places if you lock pick and explore plenty of stuff. I've seen it in the most random places and had it drop from the most random mobs. Especially in act 2 / 3

Great build. I have question though, you mention to respec when you reach L9 to fighter/Barb hybrid, but what about our level choices up until level 9 for pure Barb build?
I actually was doing this build myself without the video, what I did was 5 on barbarian to get the extra attack, then 2 into Fighter at Level 8 I respec'd to 3 Barb to get the spec (I am using Wild Magic instead of Bear, works just as well I think) and 5 Fighter (to reach the Extra Attack) from there its what the video says, I did one level to Barb to reach 4 for the feat, and then the rest into Fighter for more manouvers and the 2 feats at the first feat I took Great Weapon Master, way too good to skip, you can just disable the passive if the enemy AC is high and you still keep the extra attack on kill/crit at the second feat, I took Athlete to round STR and extra jump at the third, max out STR with an ASI at the fourth, I'll go Savage attack as well basically exactly the same strategy as the video, but I respec'd on 8 instead of 9
It’s an okay video, but showing late game armor at the beginning is better placed at the end, and you kinda need to get to the point a little faster. You tend to overexplain things.

Yep, I was of the same mind. Battlemaster is by far the best fighter subclass in the game atm

I never considered going low dex… I think I will try this on my Barb!
just make sure you have the dex item to do so, otherwise you will get hit hard with that negative modifier
i like 9 levels of great weapon master berserker barabarian and 3 levels of fighter champion on half orc...so many crit bonuses

Fighters are super powerful in 5e it seems, in the early game you don't really need any spellcaster
They may be "bland" but they make up for it in martial power, for sure.
If you use no armor, then you should wear another boots, that gives advanced Jump and +1AC to unarmored - It is much better then 1 time mystic step.
Well I played sorc first run through. So it seems like multiclassing a melee build will be good for the dragonman I want to make next run.

If you pick up the bird heart...and two monk lvs for step of the wind you can jump attack around the battle for 4 to 5 attacks a turn
I don't think it works like that since the Eagle strike requires an action.

Heavy armor makes rage not work.
If you want full fighter and go full combat master you can do so just fine.

why u din't pick fighter as a 1rst class to be able to wear heavy armor?
Heavy armor messes with rage, so if you want to use rage you can't wear heavy armor.

nothing wrong with staying pure barb until you can do the 5/4 split

Barbarian Unarmored Defense is Con Mod + Dex Mod.
Wear no armor and 18 Dex (+4) and 16 Con (+3) = 17.
