  • Today we get to show you how super simple it is to get started with the Alpha Carette 2 PCP air compressor. Not only is this compressor super reliable, but it takes very little to start using it AND minimal maintenance. Gone are the days of messing with coolant, pumps, leaks, breakdowns etc.

    I ordered a Carette 2 yesterday. After watching this video several times I feel ready to operate it once it arrives. Andrew was great to work with; Logan and Ricky were also helpful when Andrew could not come to the phone. We will be in touch!

    Just ordered the carette 2 and a tiger shark tank, after about a year of debating it. Excited!

    The NEW AND IMPROVED Alpha Carette 2 arrived in a very nicely packaged unit. It was a breeze to get into action. The oil was already installed even. I just read the instructions on the digital power/pressure gauge and it was off to filling. I will say the digital settings are NOT intuitive - not hard but it did require a couple times through the instructions to get my desired HIGH & LOW BAR pressures set. Switching from PSI to BAR was quick and easy. Oh, and it powers up to the HIGH setting each time so I have to switch it to the low setting for my desired BAR vs 4500psi/BAR equivalent.
    I have used it for a dozen fills and have NO complaints other than powering up to the HIGH/MAX psi/bar setting each time. When filling a rifle as I do most often at home this could go bad IF I forgot to change it from HIGH 310 BAR back to the LOW 250 BAR or less.
    Quick, Quiet and efficient; for what more can you ask ??
    I bought a Nomad II on the upper middle economy price $700 first and it worked ok. I had a "KNOCKING" issue several times that I was able to rectify and it seemed to be associated with too little or too much silicone oil. I bought the Alpha Carette 2 to replace it and it so far has made me wish I had "Bought once, cried once". It is not inexpensive but it is a quality higher end or "lower HIGH-End" unit all around.

      thanks for the input, we will keep that in mind about the "memory" on power off state so maybe it defaults to the lower or saves last state, ill speak with the manufacturer

      Wow! Thank you for thr Kudos.
      And FYI, unilke ALL the other compressors (even some that are more expensive), our Carette2 comes with a TRUE Air Filter with additional Moisture separator. Some call it a Water Filter, and that's all they include. Ours includes the true AIR FILTER with molecular sieve!

      How it’s running?

    • @Tatankaonline
      @Tatankaonline ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Oregon-airguns I am filling rifles and as such am am not taxing it very much. It runs well, steady and quiet. I have had no issues. I will add a couple observations. Mine came with very well packaged and the oil was already installed. I have it on a tied floor and it "walks / vibrates" around while pumping. I have it on a 20amp circuit in my basement. It has less than 5 hours total on it so it might get better but, as I say just and observation, it often does not start right up but has a 1/2 second hun then it turns over a couple of times then begins to run as it should. It might prefer a 30amp circuit. The only thing I would change is that when I turn it on it defaults to HIGH pressure (4500psi/310BAR fill). As I am filling rifle bottles, if I forgot to reset it to my LOW (250bar / 3625psi) it would be dangerous. I mentioned that to Joe and he said they might look into having it default to the last used setting. If not that, I would for safety sake have it default to the LOW setting - better safe than sorry - If you don't change it to HIGH /4500psi /310BAR you just get a less than full refilling bottle versus a dangerously overfilled rifle bottle.
      I bought it to replace my Nomad II. The Nomad II is still going but has had to be looked after - just tinkering and maintenance on my part but time consuming - on several occasions. I think I have figured out it is very silicone oil sensitive, not too much, not too little.
      I don't need all that the Alpha Carette 2 has to offer but it has worked every time as advertised on about 50 250BAR fills. As I said it is not taxed by me.

      Ow that it is a few months old my only issue is that it does not start consistently. Sometimes it starts right up. Sometimes is stutters like it is on a 10amp circuit and not getting enough juice. It is on a 30amp dedicated breaker. I worked w Joe once when it tripped its breaker and afterwards would not start after resetting but we have not found the problem. I am back to pushing start and waiting to she if it starts or starts after a couple chugs, like turning over an old one cylinder motor. If it starts, good. If not then I turn it off, wait a minute and try again. It has started for the past month after talking w Joe. Annoying but as long as it starts it’s ok. If it decides not to start again I will be back to Joe who genuinely wanted to sort it out.

    I’m loving this compressor. I’m wondering about the water separator. Does that require any maintenance and would it be OK to take the top off and clean it out once in a while.
    Also, I have a 6.8 L bottle could you recommend a good valve for me to use with it?

    Joe, what are the American-made compressors you sell? How do you compare the Carette 2 to the American-made compressors? Pros and Cons!

    • @AirGunScientist
      @AirGunScientist  ปีที่แล้ว

      American Made compressors we sell are Bauer -
      Pros:
      Long track record of reliability
      Made in the USA
      Used by nearly every dive shop/fire department in the country
      Fills quick/quietly
      Cons:
      Price
      Performance is similar, reliability is great with both compressors however the carette two has not been out that long, for the 7 months we've had them testing etc, we have yet to have a failure with any unit we use or have sold.

    Interesting! Is this manufactured here in the United States? If not, does this come out of China? Who makes it? Seems like a good candidate for my first 4500 PSI compressor. I like the fact that it has true water separator and molecular sieve.

    • @AirGunScientist
      @AirGunScientist  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      sorry for the late reply, it is made in china with a manufacturer we work directly with to develop this, with our feedback/insight this is what we came up with to improve on the previous iteration. Its been an amazing compressor

  • @fireman1776
    @fireman1776 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video Joe. But where is the compressor made?

    • @AirGunScientist
      @AirGunScientist  ปีที่แล้ว

      the compressor is manufactured in china, we teamed up with carette to get this out, with our feedback we acheived this design. If you do want USA made we carry those as well, they are a bit more expensive but you get the added benefit of USA made - the decision is up to you, you cant go wrong either way. stay tuned for our black friday deal, we will have a carette combo on there :)

    hello, at the 7min08, you forget to screw off your bottle... as we see the gauge of the bottle go down 🤣 Thanks for your video, I'm looking for the carette 2 in France... but where...

    • @AirGunScientist
      @AirGunScientist  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As shown in the video, in order to remove the hose one must first close the valve to the air tank so as to remove pressure from the quick disconnect (and hose). If pressure is not removed, the quick disconnect will either be damaged or impossible/extremely difficult to remove.
      Have a great day, and thank you for watching the video!

    • @FodzyleGEEK
      @FodzyleGEEK 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello, yes I know about compressors, but that's not what I'm telling you. I tell you that in your video you forgot to close the bottle tap because when you open the filter purge the whole bottle empties...@@AirGunScientist

    • @AirGunScientist
      @AirGunScientist  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I kindly state you are incorrect. The gauge you are seeing in the video is LINE pressure, not tank pressure. As one removes the pressure from the hose (to facilitate disconnecting the quick disconnect), the gauge that shows hose pressure will go to zero. The tank pressure is BEHIND, (facing me). I kindly assure you I know what I am doing, as I personally designed the valve.
      Have a great day and thank you for your comments.
