x2, I can follow other kpop groups, but only to fill the void Taemin left in me when he was in the military, now that he is back, I'm just waiting for his new solo album to say: shut up and take all my money!!!
Taemin is sooooo artistic. I know you said you’ve listened to his song advice but you should definitely do a reaction to the music video, the man is amazing.
Thanks for your reaction 😊 For SHINee, here a little warning so you know: "Replay", "Love", "Diamond sky" and "From now on" from their concert of the same title "From now on", are very emotional (first concert after). There are also others lives performances of their others concerts that are very moving but I think the most difficult one to watch for the first time remains "Y se fuera ella" by Jonghyun (There is a version with Eng Sub). And even if someone request it, "Our page" is a mv to watch later in your journey (song written by the members for Jonghyun, the lyrics are a must). I prefer to warn in case, at least you can prepare a little mentally and bring some tissues 😕 I can recommend this to begin with: their most recents mvs: Superstar (Japanese song), Atlantis, Don't call me Others songs: Tell me what to do, View, Sherlock, Replay (debut song in 2008, they are babies) Also, I know it will be difficult for their Japanese songs on youtube but their Japanese discography is really amazing and their lives performances are always, always a must watch, they are not called CDnee for nothing (as a group or solos)😉 For learning about the group and members, here some guides: You have this recent one, pretty long but very complete: Deep dive into SHINee th-cam.com/video/LiYLVmCqazg/w-d-xo.html or a series of guides less recent but which for me are pretty well made (attention they can spoil you some songs, at worst you can always mute the sound when a song is played) - A very SHINee Guide: th-cam.com/video/ctIp6XGCK7E/w-d-xo.html - A very SHINee intro: ONEW!: th-cam.com/video/KK8rLkV5bk8/w-d-xo.html (keep subtitles on to see errors) - A very SHINee intro: JONGHYUN!: th-cam.com/video/7EqwuWuZXcI/w-d-xo.html - A very SHINee intro: KEY!: th-cam.com/video/ADUrw9CeiEk/w-d-xo.html - A very SHINee intro: MINHO!: th-cam.com/video/Ko9u6IjFzC0/w-d-xo.html - A very SHINee intro: TAEMIN!: th-cam.com/video/hH5r88pfH9U/w-d-xo.html (keep subtitles on to see errors) Funny videos: - Shinee dumping water on each other for 12 minutes straight: th-cam.com/video/SCvLsfWEJVQ/w-d-xo.html - Shinee's legendary cake fights: th-cam.com/video/xqkhZdWcpSg/w-d-xo.html - Shinee being chaotic: th-cam.com/video/tETP9WJjVXw/w-d-xo.html and a channel where you can find a lot of funny videos www.youtube.com/@cheesestick I will stop here for now 😂 Take your time and enjoy your journey in the SHINee World ☺
Fun fact: That's not just any female dancer in Taemin's "Want" MV. The girl you see highlighted in the shadows is Yoo JiMin (Karina) who is the leader and main dancer of aespa. She participated in this song as a rookie trainee even before aespa's debut. ("Want" was released in February 2019 and aespa didn't debut until November 2020.) She also participated in some of his live comeback stage performances and you can see her in Taemin's dance practice video. Taemin's "Want" is one of those songs that the lyrics take the song and performance up to the next level. :D The lyrics give the song and performance a whole other feel and it helps to explain the images and story you see being told in the MV. ;) Many people think that "Want" has a vampire vibe, and I can see where some might get the vampire feel from this MV. After all, one of Taemin's nicknames is SHINee's eternal vampire because in some performances and MVs, the way he looks and the aesthetic of the performance gives him a vampire image. However, in "Want" Taemin is supposed to be portraying Lucifer. That's why he seems to have a love affair with those snakes. (The ones he is holding are real snakes.) And, like Lucifer, he is supposed to be seducing the audience and the girl using his devilish powers, which is why the choreography looks like he is slithering like a snake. Taemin is Catholic, and most of his MVs showcase his faith as it tells the story using numerous Biblical references. The style and aesthetic in "Want" is just the kind of vibe we have all come to expect from Taemin. He has a very sensual/sexy way of moving and, as a soloist, it's kind of his signature thing. That is why all his songs are titles such as "Danger," "Soldier" "Sexuality," "Tiger," "Press Your Number," "Guess Who," "Mystery Lover," "Hypnosis," "Crazy 4 U," "Flame of Love," " Under My Skin," "Thirsty," "Want," "Criminal," etc. or "Ace," "Already", "Door, "Pretty Boy," "Move" "Artistic Groove," "Famous," "Idea," etc. Each song is meant to show you exactly why he is one of the best in the industry even just by their titles. I find it interesting that all of his songs, with the titles alone, tell you exactly what Taemin is all about. If you look at all the titles of his songs, you will see that the titles convey one of two things about him, either painting a picture of his sexy and sensual onstage personality, or they explain his dedication and passion as an artist. If you like his dancing in the MV, you have to see his "Want" dance practice video to really understand how intricate and breathtaking Taemin is with this choreography. No one moves the way Taemin does. Taemin is very unique and never does the same thing twice, he is constantly switching up his sound and dance style. However, you will see that it will always be very Taemin-like. Many choreographers who have worked with him over the years have said that, with Taemin you can't help but allow him to move in whatever way his body takes him. Taemin is art in every sense of the word. :D Taemin started when he was a child by copying dancers that he saw on TV such as Michael Jackson and Kpop star Bi Rain. And he didn't have any formal training until he joined SM. As trainees, SM originally planned to make SHINee a hip-hop group, so Taemin's dance training started out focusing on hip-hop dance styles like popping and locking. However, over the years, he has devoted himself to learning every style of dance. Now he is considered one of the top two best dancers. (EXO's Kai -- who happens to be Taemin's best friend since trainee days and is a fellow member of SuperM -- is the other top dancer.) Taemin is literally the artist that everyone within the Kpop industry looks up to and respects. He debuted as a member of SHINee in 2008 at the age of 14 and he became one of the very first SM idols who is part of a active group to start a solo career way back in 2014 when he was only 21 years old. Now he is one of the most popular male solo artist who is considered the blueprint for what it takes to be a successful solo artist, as well as a member of the legendary group SHINee. Taemin has released at least one song or album -- most of the time way more than just one -- as part of SHINee, as a member of a project group, as a solo artist or as a member of SuperM every year since SHINee's debut. He has debuted in 3 Kpop generations -- second gen. with SHINee, third gen. as a solo artist and fourth gen. as a member of SuperM -- and yet he is the same age or younger than most 3rd and even some 4th gen idols.
You’ll see a running theme of biblical references in Taemin’s music/MVs…he’s a devout Catholic (his Christian name is Francesco). Near the end, when he’s wearing the fringe, MJ-inspired jacket, he’s dancing in front of French artist Auguste Rodin’s The Gates of Hell, which depicts a scene from the first section of Dante’s Inferno.
SHINee doesn't really have a storyline or lore. They debuted before that kind of thing became really popularized in kpop. They have great vocals, catchy bops, wholesome charm, and excellent stage presence. They take those things and produce timeless classics both as a group and as soloists. But each era will generally give you something fresh and new with only a handful of connections, maybe. That said, Taemin definitely likes to dig in conceptually. While he does not utilize lore, he does have a very cohesive body of work because he uses recurring tones and iconography that you will begin to notice over time. He has carved out a very specific niche that has defined the industry in several ways. Some of those recurring motifs and themes: being bound/restrained, having his face partially or completely obscured usually with a mask or his hands, wolves, death/resurrection, hell/damnation vs heaven/divinity, flowers (usually roses and sometimes blue), etc. He strives for beauty and elegance within darkness, unless ugliness and inelegance is the point he's specifically making. His art usually has darker, sensual, creepy themes paired with impeccable visuals. He often showcases duality in his MVs, lyrics, dance, or visuals. I'd say a good 90% of his MVs and performance videos from Danger to Advice have themes of duality or multiplicity and the splitting of the self/psyche. His work is also often about exploring his identity both as Taemin the Idol vs Taemin the man. The Korean music critic Kim Young Dae had this to say about Taemin's solo career and presence: "He broke the stereotype image, the limit/frame for male singers in Korean pop and created a new world.” Young Dae talks about SHINee a LOT. He has a ton of articles, radio segments, and videos out there that would be good to look into once you're deeper into your SHINee journey. Want's lyrics are sprinkled with lines about being tempted by the apple and being drawn into sin. At the end of this MV they're dancing in front of a picture of an actual sculpture called "The Gates of Hell" which depicts scenes from the "Inferno" section of Dante's 1320 poem "Divine Comedy". The song lyrics and MV have heavy references to religious iconography/symbolism but is primarily about the Temptation of Eve by the Devil. Taemin can be interpreted as taking on the form of Lucifer or even of Temptation itself, aka the personification of the red "forbidden fruit". Taemin generally aims to portray androgyny in a lot of his art. He usually likes to embrace and discard both femininity and masculinity to suit his desired impact with any given project, oftentimes portraying/blending them simultaneously. He struggled for a long time with his femininity and even slipped into hypermasculinity for a very brief time. Taemin now fully embraces his femininity and his masculinity in equal parts. He also styles himself in an androgynous way for a lot of his projects. In this video, he has that white blouse with the exposed shoulders yet also the tasseled jacket almost like a uniform. The red suit with the strong shoulder lines except it also has one arm cut away so he can have the elegant, red, opera glove. The delicate opera glove paired with a more masculine outfit with a cut sleeve was the signature styling for the Want era. He also very deliberately uses choreography that mixes feminine and masculine movements or has very neutral vibes that adhere to neither sides of the gender binary. Move was born from that effort of neutrality and as a result it eventually reorganized the kpop industry permanently afterward. Some Taemin solo recs! MVs: Press Your Number, 2 Kids, Criminal, IDEA, Advice, Famous, Think of You B-Sides (with stages or performance videos): Black Rose (feat. Kid Milli), Thirsty, Play Me, Stone Heart, Nemo, Eclipse, Pinocchio (feat. BewhY) Just FYI, 3 of his MVs are actually a connected series of MVs that all tie together. The "Never Gonna Dance Again" album project was released in 2 parts plus a repackage that combines the two. It starts with 2 Kids > Criminal > IDEA...then informally goes to Advice (which is from his next project) as the epilogue to make it a tetralogy. I recommend watching these four MVs in order of their release just to experience the intended movement of this story. It's not 100% imperative or anything but I think it's interesting to consider them in relation to each other.
I can definitely see the start of reoccurring themes. Not necessarily a lore, but covering his face fully or partly, as well as the mixing of feminine/masculine. He really is an artist through and through. And I am so glad that he embraces androgyny the way he does.
I'm so glad you've fallen down the Taemin/Shinee rabbithole. It's hard to find a good place to start, because their discography as a whole is that good. It may be better to start at the beginning because "Replay" is timeless, but also you get through the...quirkier parts of their discography, like ""Ring Ring Dong". But "Lucifer", "Hello", "Sherlock", "View", "Married to the Music" and "1 of 1" are required viewing.
I’m glad I have too! I love falling into new groups! SHINee is definitely going to be a long journey but I’m here for it and I have plenty of caffeine!
Taemin’s reoccurring story is fighting his inner demons and searching for his artistic identity. And no, it’s not just some “concept” he (or someone) invented for himself, it’s actually grounded in reality and very genuine - it’s his own, personal story, a story of an introverted very young boy, who became a super star perhaps far too early in his life so he was forced to grow up in the spotlight and it truly influenced his entire life. So particularly his relationship with fame and celebrity life is something you can find in his videos - if you watch Famous (his Japanese release) and read the lyrics you’ll clearly see it’s a very bittersweet experience for him. Then you have the “famous” trilogy of his MVs - Criminal (about the Stockholm Syndrome), IDEA (about searching for his ideal self) and finally Advice (which is a big f you to his haters and a strong statement that he’s going to follow his own advice)… So especially in his recent videos (2019-2021) this was the main theme. Move and Want belong to the previous era - a king of sensuality and seduction Taemin era. It was the time he finally embraced his androgyny and started exploring the boundaries of feminine and masculine stereotypes in dancing, styling and artistic expression. Early solo Taemin (2014-2016) was a different Taemin - it was the time he didn’t have so much artistic freedom and his concepts weren’t fully his, so he was still discovering his artistic identity. You should definitely watch the trilogy - Criminal-IDEA-Advice and I would also recommend Thirsty (ha ha, if you want Taemin in red to make you thirsty that’s the MV to go to!). I enjoyed your somewhat hectic reaction 😁 I’m truly waiting for more Taemin!
Lol, the irony is that he was completely fine with the snakes, in the behind the scenes he was playing with the snake like if it was a dog, oh but get a mosquito near him and he will run for his life 😂 he cannot with bugs!
I recommend you to watch the live performance Excuse Me Miss by SHINee as your first video. To me it shows SHINees music vibe and their personalities pretty well and also their ability to perform. The concert stages also dont get blocked usually so it would be fun^^ SHINee - Excuse Me Miss (SHINee World IV)
Girl~ you need that cold shower, cause Taemin is totally hot in Want, now I can tell you to try reacting to Sayonara Hitori, is a song in japanese, but that video is gold, I feel like I'm watching an anime intro video when I watch it. and of course Taemin is just perfect in it
For when you start your SHINee journey I just want to mention that the songs Replay(2008), Love Sick (2015), and Marry You (2021) are a trilogy of sorts even though only Replay has a mv. ^^ Loving the reactions! Can't wait for more
The girl dancer is Karina from aespa! All SHINee members are soloists and their 15th anniversary is 05/25! While an album is coming, it's likely to be delayed due to SM's...recent difficulties. Eta: after the videos, watch the dance practices, especially for Move, Famous, and Advice. Watch Criminal, Idea, and Advixe in that order pls. That's the closest Taem comes to a storyline...sorta.
Oh I’ve definitely got to watch the dance practices! Also I plan on watching those three back to back as a lot of people have said it’s like a trilogy. I’ve gotta get through SHINee before I get to any new stuff. I want to be prepared
Watch the SHINee songs, sherlock, everybody and their debut song Replay! People fell in love with them with their debut itself and it was named as one of the best debut songs ever!!
Please react to Idea and Criminal!!!! Criminal is also another video that you might lose your mind to 😄 oh and advice is gonna make you go crazy and that is guaranteed 😅

Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. I love Want. Move is my 2nd fav song from him. And Sayonara Hitori is my fav song from him. It's a Japanese song. But i like many of his songs. Not all but many. U have to watch the dance practices. Those are a must for Taemin. He also has dance versions of his MVs sometimes so keep sharp Meg. Taemin explores certain themes in his work. So there are connections. It's really deep and I have not figured all of it out yet. I read comments and take notes. Lots of biblical references here for sure. Adam & Eve and others. =0p Taemin has his signature pose T in many of his later songs. The mask appears often and there is a meaning to it for sure. I am so glad u liked this song too.He is a brilliant dancer. I hope ur following him on IG. He has been posting recently and going live a lot. He will have a fan meeting this month in Korea. I think he plans to perform. I am excited. He been working hard. Shinee is having a comeback next month i think. And we will have a Taemin solo comeback too when he is ready. Taemin is very sensual. He does not mean to be he just is. So he is using that gift here. We want him we want him wet so he gave us what we want. 0.0 Pes! lol. But he also a cutie. The duality is real af with him so buckle up. Hugs. -NY USA 2019 Army💟
GUUURL what type of music do you like? so I can recommend some Taemin and Shinee songs 😂. Also do you watch other videos minus MVs, like dance practice, funny video, variety shows, etc?
Yes, he was the snake, as in the devil tempting the Biblical Eve. As for some recommendations - he's recently put out a video titled "Long Time No See", where he answers some questions of the fans (who he calls jjakkongs - friends, partners, helpers). If you want to see his other side, it's a great introduction to the soft, funny and sweet person he is in the real life.
Mang is adorable. He's so cute. With SHINee I'm going to say start with Replay. Especially the live version. They can sing sing. Oh and these lyrics are something . . He knows us
Famous (dance practice or live), Sexuality, Idea , Black Rose are all great Taemin songs // You need to check out his group too. It is SHINee // amazing dancing and vocals.
Yes he was the serpent. i love snakes. And also what u mean no chest. Him wet with his chest out wet 0.0 i think u need to rewatch for research Meg. 0.0 Based on what u said listen to his song Heaven. No MV there is a live i think but do a lyric video read the lyrics 0.o because umm... yeah
Just curious why you haven’t upgraded to a new one at this point? I mean like If your laptop is that old then its screaming to be replaced. I’d be happy to list you stores you can get a good quality affordable laptop. I'm telling you, this man has become my ultimate bias, I just love him sooo bad
I’m fighting for my life trying to resist. But I’ve clearly lost and I’m TaemIN all the way!
Want is the 1st Taemin video I ever saw, and I fell in love! Criminal is perfect for the next vid. (It’s my favorite!) He’s an amazing artist.
I’m most certainly not going to survive criminal. 🤣🤣
When it comes to Taemin or Shinee, i always enjoy it b'coz Taemin is my ultimate bias & Shinee is my fav Kpop group in the entire kpop industry. 😊
x2, I can follow other kpop groups, but only to fill the void Taemin left in me when he was in the military, now that he is back, I'm just waiting for his new solo album to say: shut up and take all my money!!!

MVs: Press Your Number, 2 Kids, Criminal, IDEA, Advice, Famous, Think of You
B-Sides (with stages or performance videos): Black Rose (feat. Kid Milli), Thirsty, Play Me, Stone Heart, Nemo, Eclipse, Pinocchio (feat. BewhY)
Just FYI, 3 of his MVs are actually a connected series of MVs that all tie together.
@@Thisismeg2 Shinee actually do have a storyline u can see some of it in certain MVs. But i don't know what it is yet. It's complicated.
LOL .And now we all need a new song called "More" from Taemin.
Lmao yes please! How do we make that happen!
TAEMIN is the different level. THE KING of kings
He truly is! I see why he’s called king of kings
Haha I have serious phobia of snakes. So good for him playing with them. But I’m with him on bugs. I just don’t do creepy crawlers
I recommend you to watch the live performance Excuse Me Miss by SHINee as your first video. To me it shows SHINees music vibe and their personalities pretty well and also their ability to perform. The concert stages also dont get blocked usually so it would be fun^^
SHINee - Excuse Me Miss (SHINee World IV)
Girl~ you need that cold shower, cause Taemin is totally hot in Want, now I can tell you to try reacting to Sayonara Hitori, is a song in japanese, but that video is gold, I feel like I'm watching an anime intro video when I watch it. and of course Taemin is just perfect in it
Lmaooo fuck a cold shower just dunk me in those ice baths the athletes use.
@@Thisismeg2 btw, in Thirsty, he wears a red suit :)
When it's time for the Japanese videos, Flame of Love HAS to be in the list right with Sayonara Hitori
For when you start your SHINee journey I just want to mention that the songs Replay(2008), Love Sick (2015), and Marry You (2021) are a trilogy of sorts even though only Replay has a mv. ^^ Loving the reactions! Can't wait for more
Ohhh thank you for the info I will keep that in mind when I dive into SHINee
Love this so much you're incredible
Awe! Thank you soo much!! 🥰🥰
TAEMIN
next
Drip Drop
Criminal
I’m doing criminal, idea and advice together. I’ll definitely add drip drop and next
It's ALWAYS for the sake of science
Please react to Idea and Criminal!!!! Criminal is also another video that you might lose your mind to 😄 oh and advice is gonna make you go crazy and that is guaranteed 😅

Drip Drop is amazing 👏
I haven’t done it yet, but I have a whole list!
I got bad news from the hospital today, and you made me laugh. Thank you x
The female Dancer is Karina of Aespa ^^
Wait what?!? Seriously?? That’s amazing!
@@Thisismeg2 Yep, She hadn't debuted with her girl band yet, here she was still a trainee! ^^th-cam.com/video/YQsUhMaNqD4/w-d-xo.html
Lmfao For Science is also always my excuse. I feel you
Yes, he was the snake, as in the devil tempting the Biblical Eve.
Lol. Have you tried Lebanese coffee for some different kind of ZOOM ?! 😅
I really recommend Ring Ding Dong by SHINee, but be prepared to clear your schedule. it's legit banned in SAT's because it's so catchy!
While they're isn't lore Taemin's work is thematically cohesive.
Shinee is the best group, Taemin is top.
React to SHINee Replay 💎👍
Yes he was the serpent. i love snakes. And also what u mean no chest. Him wet with his chest out wet 0.0 i think u need to rewatch for research Meg. 0.0
Based on what u said listen to his song Heaven.
Also, i know your channel name is caffeinated squirrel but its probably good idea to cut back sometimes from the energy drinks b/c I’ve heard if you drink too much that it can lead to diabetes and other heath issues as well as teeth decay b/c of all the sugar & acids that are mixed in them. *I can see your in pretty good shape and exercise on daily basis which you should cherish that b/c people like me got lazy and didnt take care of themselves like I was supposed to in order to stay fit and now i’ve been up & down trying to lose 200 lbs of weight*
U can add ur socials in the video description. I'll follow u on Twt and Insta and TikTok too. I had fun, ty. =0)
When you begin your shinee journey it's always good to start from the beginning. I also hope you will check out all the members solo work especially Jonghyuns.
