all SHINee members have incredible stage presence and aura. you're only seeing taemin in his own element, but when all five of them are together not one of them stands out from the rest. that's just how god-tier they are.

Maknae on top is the perfect description. Clumsy baby who loses everything, including phones and passports 😂 I remember him talking about how he lost his phone and then lost the one he bought to replace it, before finding the original one in the work car 😂

Just directly answering some questions 1. We don't know if he will be back in November since Public service Workers have to serve longer but they will probably not reveal his official date until later 2. Yes SHINee are still active! They had a comeback in 2021 and rn all members are just releasing their own solo stuff and all of them are awsome! 3. Both of the tattoos are real! The one on his arm is a flaming heart, fans speculate that it's in reference of his japanese song "Flame of Love" and the one on his waist is a peony flower, he said it means freedom 4. Unrelated but taemin has the cutest cat ever called kkoong you should look up some videos of those two bc it's adorable :D 5. And lastly, if you want to see taemin going all out on live stages, even more than in the ones you watched you should check out his solo concert live stages!

Taemin is very special and his solo works are more known especially internationally, he’s incredible! He has also been in the top 5 most searched male idols several times and he’s been the only member nominated in visual polls that compete with western and kpop artists
Watch review of SNOW FLOWER here in YT and the man doing it explains just how good a singer he is. He is fantastic. Seems mostly professional people notice this and say why. He is excellent singer and dancer and plays piano well on top of that too.
taemin will always be the michael jackson of kpop.. there just will always be something special that makes him stand out.. j can’t wait for him to get out of enlistment because i miss him sm.. i highly recommend criminal and heaven and live performances! two of my absolute fav song of all of his

In the Move MV, the short-haired woman he's dancing with (when it's just the two of them) is actually Koharu Sugawara. She made the choreo for Move and a few of Taemin's other choreos, they also competed on a dance reality show together.
Also, the one nipple rule only applies to MNet broadcasts I believe? Taemin got away with performing the intro for Advice completely shirtless on their music shows by painting over one nipple 🤣
I don't know if there's one more popular member of SHINee but Taemin is probably the most well-known internationally I think. Key, Minho and Onew (on-nyu btw lol) their own solo stuff occasionally so they all have their own fans outside of SHINee as well. But yeh, the group is still going strong even though they all do their own solo stuff. They had their last comeback just before Taemin enlisted and they'll probably have another one once he's back and they're all together again, provided Taemin is ready to work again by then of course.
Oh and I'd HIGHLY recommend watching the MVs for Famous, Criminal, Drip Drop, Thinking of You, Danger and 2 Kids. 2 Kids is especially good choreo-wise because he freestyled the entire thing on the streets of Paris and it shows how truly unbelievable talented he is.

I was thinking about your question regarding the most popular member of SHINee and I need to say that it's not easy to say. SHINee is that one group, in which every member is so charismatic and every member has that special aura, so they are all popular as solo artists. And when they are together? Others have no chance of competing 😂
Also it's quite amazing that in a group with such strong talents (one of them being Taemin, so you can imagine) no one falls behind or stands out more than others! They all kinda blend together (in a good way) and complete each other ✨
Also to be completely fair, all the members are known for different things and different types of charisma (I can explain), so it's double as hard to definitely say who's more popular. Everyone attracts different types of people:
- Taemin is of course known for his dancing and overall artistry - subtle-sexy, classy charisma. You've seen him, so you can probably tell. And he's the most known internationally.
Also worth noting that the current interest for kpop (thanks to BTS) started when other members where in the military and he was the only one promoting, so maybe that's why you didn't know other members names.
- Onew is one of the best vocalists in kpop and has very soft, gentle charisma. His nickname since debut is "tofu", because he's so soft haha Kinda shy, quiet and smiley - but on the stage still has that aura that makes him stand out, not falling behind his energetic members. He's also their leader and least chaotic from all of them 😂 He had a solo comeback recently!
- Key is a master of variety shows (appearing on many of them) - so funny, sassy and witty with his sharp charisma. Even his voice and dancing are sharp as hell and that's the best way I can describe him, you'll need to see for yourself. He's the official diva of SHINee (and probably of the whole industry 😂).
But please, don't think he's mean or highly demanding or any negative diva-like connotation - he just knows what he wants and is not afraid to express it. His sass is a funny bonus - I love the story when after SHINee's concert he started treating other members like his staff or backup dancers, thanking them for their hard work and such lol
- Minho is known for his acting, visual and his sports talent. From early on in their career he gained a nickname "flaming charisma", because he's sooo competitive, especially in sport!
He even chose (I repeat - that was his choice) to go to the hardest military troops in Korea for his mandatory enlistment - the one where you have to pass special physical exams to get in, have the hardest, most intense training and close to zero benefits! Other idols play it safe, just to get in and get out to continue their career, but Minho was like "nah, let me try to break my legs - just for fun" lol He was even disappointed, when he had to take a leave, because he missed out on some kind of training... I can't with this man.
- Jonghyun was known for so many things, like his producing and songwriting (first SM artist with self-written, self-produced album and stared writing for SHINee's songs just one year after their debut!) and also is regarded as one of the best vocalists in South Korea (even on their debut song he's going off with his adlibs like crazy), he was also a radio DJ and he wrote a book.
And his stage presence - phenomenal. Soooo captivating. You can tell that Taemin has learned from him a lot (and Taemin confirmed it), so maybe you can imagine at least a little bit how strong Jonghyun's aura and charisma was, if Taemin is his student 😉
I have trouble to describe his charisma in a way I did for others, because "strong" is literally what comes to mind, but it's not that descriptive.. Maybe commanding? Like, even when he's just sitting, not doing anything, I feel intimidated. Even though I know he's so sweet and kind 😅
Thank you for your reaction, I love your long videos. And I hope you will check out more of SHINee and their solo activities as well. All of them are so different in style as solo artists, but fit together so well as a group - it's fascinating.
Ok this was so awesome to read! Thanks for taking the time to write all of this. I am sooooo curious about Shinee but a part of me is scared to get into them because I usually go ALL IN with a group and with Jonghyun…… I’m scared to be sad I guess? 🙈 but I am curious about them!
@@melaniereacts I understand the fear of being sad and it's the best to know your own limits - but don't worry about saddening the fans by reacting to and talking about Jonghyun, because the ones watching reactions are the ones who are comfortable with it and appreciate it (me included). And we want people to know and celebrate him!
When I couldn't watch or listen to any SHINee content for over a year, I knew it and just avoided it. Everyone knows best what they can take, so just think about your own feelings and limits.
If you want to check them out, just do what you're most comfortable with. You can react to their newer (2018 and up) stuff with four members, their solo work to see every member individually, or watch the older videos with all of them if you're comfortable. Fans (Shawols - short for SHINee World) will appreciate anything.
If you don't want to be really, really sad, there are certain SHINee songs good to avoid for now (like "Our Page", "From Now On" or "Area"), because of the lyrics. Especially "Our Page" - they wrote it for Jonghyun, so lyrics and MV are heartbreaking. To be honest, I still can't watch their live performances of this song. It's great to know it, but it's going to be hard.
And just FYI, if you would like in the future to watch some new funny compilations of SHINee (which I recommend, because they are hilarious), fans often include Jonghyun's moments in it. And the members also mention him while talking about the group or when they have to say something about every member, also wishing him happy birthday on social media etc.

For me, there was something so special when Onew sang Selene 6.23 as a duet on the TV show Sea of Hope. Knowing it was written by Jonghyun and seeing the small, deeply moved group of listeners was beautiful.

taemin's stuff is def different than shinee's approach! with a huge discography its hard to pin shinee's style down but taemin def takes a more dance heavy sultry approach that shinee doesnt often do. the quality is totally equal though i love taemin's work and shinee's work so much

Taemin is a different league. I have been observing him for a long time and apart from his talent, I was noticed by the desire to create something that would distinguish him and at the same time allow for an artistic message. He is not only a versatile artist, he is an art in itself.

@@melaniereacts Like Shawols say, once you TaemIN, you cannot TaeOUT. There is no slope, just a straight drop, all the more once you try getting to know him outside of just the performances. He is, without exaggeration, a beautiful human being, just like the rest of his SHINee brothers.
I'd say all 5 members were very popular, all of them have powerful vocals and stage presence, it was always difficult for me to pick a bias among them. But Jonghyun and Taemin's stage presence will always mesmerize me
And SHINee are still active, their recent album is amazing. Also all of them have great solo careers. If you are interested to check out something from SHINee i recommend you their live performance "Excuse me miss". And for Taemin you should definitely check out "Danger", "Criminal" and "2 kids" MVs
The MVs are great but to really see how good Taemin is, one must watch his liver performances. Amazing.

1. I would say Taemin is definitely the member most recognized for his solo work (Jonghyun ws too) and he is a big inspiration for many 3rd and 4th gen idols (Shinee as a whole too)! The list of idols naming Taemin as the reason why the became an idol is endless. Taemin the idols idol indeed. The other members also have very successful solo careers tho and Minho is especially known for acting too.
2. Shinee is still an active group and had their last comeback in 2021 with 'Don't Call Me' followed by the repackage "Atlantis" and also a japanese comeback called "Superstar"! You should check the MVs out too :)
3. Yes Taemin's tattoos are real. His hip tattoo is a peony and the one on his arm is a flaming heart.
4. Not a question you asked but I loved how you said that Taemin sounded nice when you heard him talk because he is truly a sweetheart. Such a kind and warm person. Very introvert off stage but he can be quite the menace especially around his Shinee members since he is the maknae of the group. He debuted in Shinee when he was only 14 and you can tell he is the baby of the group. It's quite adorable. I think when it comes to MVs you should check out his "Think Of You" it's quite wholesome.
5. Taemin is known as the best dancer in kpop but also his vocal growth is absolutely insane. He is also one of the most hardworking idols out there with so many albums in korean and japanese while still being fully active in his group!
My recommendations for you would be: Drip Drop performance video, Ace performance video, Black Rose the stage as well as his live performance of "Slave"! They are all safe for yt btw. I also think his dance practices are a must.

I know they all say he debuted at 14, but he has refuted that. Said he trained 3 years and debuted at 16 when in 10th grade. Think staff wrote that in his bio, like his favorite color is yellow and he has said it is not. He got stuck with that. He has said all of these things in streaming more than once. They don't count age the same so don't know if Korean age or International.
@@mollidew3643 he was turning 15 international age when he debuted in 2008. Born in 1993. I know because we're the same age ahahaha. Ive been a shawol since 2009 ring ding dong era haha.

Thank you for the reaction! I also just got into taemin last year thru Advice. I totally love that song and am happy that you like it too! My bias in SHINee is definitely taemin since i got to dig into them because of Advice and i love him completely. but i would say all of the members have strong presence on stage. thats why they are still going strong as a group even in their 14th year. nobody outshines anybody. all of them are outstanding and their relationships are nice. otherwise i would have become just a taemin solo stan. jonghyun is always breathtaking and key has a super strong eye contact. onew’s voice really stands out in every song. everyone loves onew’s voice and also minho’s baritone. all in all they have strong presence and i think they are one of the groups that you can easily tell their voices apart. they are distinctive and easy to recognize. and yes i absolutely agree that taemin’s moves are captivating 💗 the details in his moves are unmatched.
anyway for taemin’s solo discography, i honestly love all of them 😅 i believe you will love a lot of his b-sides too such as black rose. i would say my favorite albums are never gonna dance again act1 and advice. (but i love move album too. actually i love every album 😅) i love listening to advice album at night on bed. its very fitting 😂 taemin is a very very cute human being off stage. you may check out his mv “think of you”. its kinda a vlog style mv and his adorable personality is shown there.

I agree with everything said here but love Flame of Love on stage in Japan. Rise shows off his range. I have never heard anything I don't like by Taemin or SHINee or other members. He did a series which is showing on Prime called Final Life. Minho a number of acting things which most can be seen in VIKI.
@15:02, Yes. MOVE cemented his worldwide popularity and his "TAEMIN" genre. Among the idols in Korea, he has the most distinct musical style, and you'd often hear people saying "this song is very Taemin", whether it's the vibe, the styling, or thr dance.
He is so "distinct" as an artists it seems!

Its my first time watching one of your videos - I like how when questions about Taemin or SHINee pop in your head you are quick to look it up and continue after knowing the information you were wondering about instead of just saying 'let me know in the comments down below' and then moving on. That kind of curiosity and attention to the artist made me like your react so much! Its so genuine in my opinion and I value it a lot.
Every one of SHINee members have solo stuff besides their group releases so i definitely recommend looking them up individually too someday! I'll wait patiently in hopes of KEY/JONGHYUN reactions since they are my biases ♡ subbed!

Taemin was very young when they started a group, literally a baby, he was considered not a good singer back then. And look at him now, his growth is really impressive. Jonghyun helped him a lot and literally taught Taemin everything he knew. Jonghyun was incredible vocalist, his charisma was top notch, his songwriting skills were so impressive. He wrote songs not just for SHINee and his solos but for Exo, IU, Lee Hi, Taemin too. Of course now Taemin found his own style, but i can still see Jonghyun's influence in him. Taemin is my favorite kpop soloist, he is a definition of art itself and many idols look up to him. SHINee's power as a group is live performances, so if you ever get into them you can watch live performances Sherlock, Stranger, Lucifer, Excuse Me Miss
Onew was also Taemin vocal coach as well as Jonghyun
Taemin was still going through puberty is why he had trouble singing, not that he was tone deaf. Also as a vocal major, Jonghyun was great but did not have perfect pitch but Taemin does. First thing I noticed about the two. Jonghyun was awesome all the same. Really great singer.
Taemin in genuinely unmatched in his artistry. I've been a shawol/taemint (Taemin bias) since 2008. Watching him grow over the years has been an amazing experience and he's only continued to surprise and impress as the years have gone on. I will say, I personally believe that in order to do a full deep dive into Taemin - SHINee is very important. SHINee have been together for fourteen years (so, this is a huge chunk of his career) and all of the members are really unmatched artists in their own right. They're also all amazing live vocalists and the kings of live performance, so it's no surprise at all that Taemin is such a great vocalist and performer. On top of that, the bond the members all have with each other is really incredible. I really hope you get the time to check out SHINee (and Super M) - along with his extensive solo work (all just as fantastic as what you just saw ;) ) if you have time; his entire journey is a beautiful one. He's worked so hard over the years. The refined artist and vocalist you see here is just proof of that dedication, hard work, and talent. So glad you enjoyed him so much! Taemin really does hit differently 🥰 SHINee was actually the first K-pop group I ever got into…longgg time ago lol 😆 not sure if you’ve heard of any SHINee’s songs, but highly recommend their debut ‘Reply (Noona is pretty)’. For Taemin, I so recommend ‘Danger’, ‘Flame of Love (Japanese song)’, and he performed on a variety show called Hit The Stage where he won the first episode. He performs ‘Goodbye’ with the choreographer he works with a lot from his other videos. Ohh he has a song with EXO Kai too called ‘Pretty Boy’. Another one of my favorites songs from him is ‘2 Kids’. 🥰🥰

I was really happy to see you dive into Taemin and you’ve made some great observations regarding his aura and stage presence. There’s not much I can add to what other fans already told you, but if you really want to get to know Taemin - the artist Taemin - you should watch his iheartradio interview (from 2019) and a fanmade, excellent documentary - The Artist Taemin by walawala. You’ll get a very profound insight into who Taemin is and how he thinks of his artistic identity.
Dance wise watch Hit The Stage performance with his choreographer Koharu Sugawara, Just Me And You and Flame Of Love (performance MV), but please don’t focus only on his dancing. For Taemin dance is just another form of expression, just like his singing or visual concepts. He’s a complete artist for whom every element of his art is equally important. Oh and I truly hope you’ll react to one of his English speaking compilations or any video of him and Kkoong (his little princess cat). You’ll see a very different Taemin in those vids - cause off stage Taemin is the most lovable, endearing, funny and “odoroble” person there is!

I love Taemin's work because there is such depth of meaning to most everything he does. Most of his MVs/songs have dual and sometimes triple meanings. You can never take his lyrics or imagery at face value.
Secondly, Taemin infuses himself -- his faith, thoughts, feelings, personal struggles -- into his work, especially since 2015. Therefore, to really know Taemin you must delve deeply into each piece he presents to us, both Korean and Japanese. For instance, his 2018 Japanese MV/song, "Under My Skin", reveals the depth of Taemin's struggle and emotions after his SHINee brother's, Jonghyun's, death. He said the song reflects his dark feelings at that time. During his 2018 Sirius Concert, Taemin cried before and after singing this beautiful song. It was quite emotional ( th-cam.com/video/3vR7hg1zLS0/w-d-xo.html ). Likewise, his song "Identity" is another tribute to Jonghyun where, during his 2019 T100110 Concert, he honors Jonghyun's favorite book, The Little Prince, through a VCR/Live combined performance. The lyrics of the song also reflect how Taemin intertwines his identity with that of Jonghyun's because Jonghyun helped to teach Taemin how to sing, as he couldn't when they debuted to to immature vocal cords. Taemin learned a lot about singing and performing from Jonghyun.
"Want" is a song dedicated to Taemin's Christian (Catholic) faith. It may look like a very sensual teasing for his fans, but when you dissect the lyrics with the imagery/symbolism throughout the MV along with the explicit contextual, linguistic, and historical references, it's a very obvious retelling of Genesis 3 with a sprinkling of the salvation message at the end. Phrases such as "deep sea" which represent chaos in ancient Mesopotamian culture, "snake" which symbolically in iconography, and in the ancient Hebrew in Gen. 3 is a triple entendre grammatically which means "divine shining being" = angel, Lucifer, supernatural being....the list goes on and on. "Criminal", "IDEA", and "Advice" are all linked together to form a cohesive storyline with a closing epilogue ("Advice") representing Taemin's struggle to realize which Taemin is the real -- celebrity Taemin or non-celebrity Taemin. "Criminal" presents us with the concept of Stockholm syndrome to represent a split in Taemin's ego into two separate entities: the "criminal" and the "victim" within Taemin's mind. At one point, he realizes that to resolve the conflict he must be refined by fire and so says, "Destroy me more". "IDEA" continues the struggle between the two in an epic battle depicted through images of Hell (criminal) and Heaven (victim). Taemin, once again, uses a very unique concept to convey this message - Plato's Theory of Forms -- which states that any any created being (form) cannot create itself. Only an outside power/being can be the creator and only that creator (Messiah) can make or be perfection. This philosophy fits in perfectly with Taemin's Christian worldview.
Within the MV/song, victim Taemin is finally getting a glimpse of what he considers the perfect "IDEA" of Taemin as created by his Messiah. That perfect being must become a blending of both, as he is a part of both egos (we see this illustrated in the epilogue song, "Advice", where Taemin wears a blended suit of black/white). However, before that "IDEA" of perfection can be achieved, there has to be a death and resurrection. He understands that to move forward to the next level, he needs to be refined through destruction and made new again. "Advice" is the aftermath of the entire story. In the opening, you see him battle scarred but ready to begin his new chapter as the reborn Taemin...and he comes out strong, stating I will take my own advice from now on, meaning even more control over his artistry. He will no longer listen to the "one" collective advice of naysayers. It's a promise for Act 2 of his career which will begin when he returns from his service.
There are so many of his other songs which also give glimpses into Taemin's psyche and how important his faith is to remaining true to himself without being swallowed into the quagmire of temptations that is synonymous with celebrity life. Songs like "Famous", "Heaven", "Holy Water", "Press Your Number", "Strangers", "Clockwork", etc. To overlook such beautiful and meaningful messages is to miss who Taemin really is because he has been revealing himself through his music for a very long time.
I'm so glad you started this journey and hope you will continue to explore his vast discography, including his phenomenal B-sides.

Yes taemin is the most popular in SHINee and he sets up his style very early in his career and he is also the first solo artist from all SM groups and paves the path for future solo artists of SM because of his success
That's one way to see it. But for shinee taemin wasnt necessarily the most popular. In the later years he focused on his solo work and was in superm and the members enlisted, that is when he kinda solidified the most popular position (especially among casual kpop international fans). When tm went solo, it was totally unexpected since everyone thought jonghyun/onew would be first. Of course he worked super hard throughout the years to make a name for himself. Also, popularity wise when it comes to public recognition etc in korea, currently Key takes the cake. He is the most hype korean idol entertainer and is a fixed cast of some of kr's high ranking variety shows.
@@ohnimevol-9480 I would say Taemin became super popular as a soloist far before the rest of the members enlisted (how you make it sound it seems as he became more popular only when they enlisted, which is not true). Move was absolutely revolutionary back in 2017 and that’s the time when the whole industry recognized his solo work and the impact it had on others. That’s the time when his artistic color became very obvious and it brought him a lot of fans outside of SHINee. It’s not a popularity contest and comparisons are not necessary since all the members have their fans and also they have different areas of interest. As a solo artist though Taemin is the most recognized amongst the members (alongside Jonghyun), which is not really surprising since we all know this is his only area of interest outside of SHINee and he worked for 7 long years to get to where he is right now - which is on absolute top of the game when it comes to solo acts in K-pop.

Taemin became a trainee with SM when he was about 11 years old, and prior to that he had no formal dance training. He started out as a self-taught popper and locker who learned to dance by copying dancers on TV, and, even then, as a trainee it was clear his skills as a dancer went far beyond the average dancer. He said he thought dancers like Rain and Michael Jackson were cool, so he would try and copy their moves. He debuted as the main dancer of SHINee when he was 14 -- so he had about 3 years of training as a dancer once he became a trainee.
So, most of what you see is just natural talent and an unbelievable amount of dedication. Taemin has put in a lot of effort to become the magnificent and unique performer and person that we know him as today. But there really is no one that pushes him or holds him to a higher standard then himself. He has said that he really has never taken a true vacation since he was a trainee and he doesn't know what to do if he isn't constantly working and training.
As he has said, there has never been anything that has come easy to him and he has only gotten to where he is today because he has worked hard to accomplish everything. He is constantly pushing himself to become the best of the best in everything he does. Taemin has said, he has worked his entire career to create a style of dance that is unlike anything in the Kpop industry. And I would argue, that that now extends to the entire industry of dance.
The first time he says he really took a break was around 2018 when he took 3 days off, and he said he hated it. That is why you see him constantly working and churning out hit after hit. Just consider the amount of comebacks and projects, etc. he was involved in during the year and a half, or so, before he enlisted in the military. He had one comeback after another, after another -- which all had MVs -- plus solo concerts, SHINee concerts, an SuperM concert tour and an SMTown concert, along with promoting it all with performances, variety show appearances and interviews, etc. And in between all of that he recorded an OST for a drama, etc. He literally was going nonstop. That is why we fans have said that his enlistment might actually force him to take a break and recharge. No matter what he has to do in the military, he will only be working about half as hard as he does normally.
Taemin has released at least one song or album -- most of the time way more than just one -- as part of SHINee, as a member of a project group, as a solo artist or as a member of SuperM every year since SHINee's debut.
You should watch some of Taemin's concert documentaries to see just how hard he trains and works. If you search TH-cam you will find 2 or 3 from his solo concerts, as well as documentaries/behind the scenes of SHINee's concerts.

I think to truly understand Taemin and his thought process for everything he's done, you first need to watch the mini-doc, "The Artist: Taemin" by Walawala; Second, the interview he did for "The Stage"; Third, the interview he did for "Ravi Close Up - Taemin, Pts. 1&2". These, collectively, really get to the heart of Taemin and his feelings about his identity and his albums.
"Want" is a VERY revealing song. For some it's just a song about how tempting Taemin really is, as he embodies every definition of temptation, but actually, this is the point where Taemin is boldly expressing his worldview through his music. Other than "Holy Water" which is a prayer, "Want" is a very revealing look into Taemin's worldview through the retelling of the story of Genesis 3 of the Bible with a little sprinkling of the salvation message at the end. Up until NGDA, Taemin struggled with his own identity. We can see the beginning of this struggle through his song "Famous" also released in 2019 (which was appropriately included in NGDA.) Through the lyrics and MV you can see his struggle with which identity is the real Taemin while also conveying the message that being famous may be fabulous, but it's also dangerous. You can, again, see the biblical motif of the forbidden apple in the video which speaks to the constant temptation to loose himself to the sin of pride, arrogance, and overindulgence often associated with celebrity status.
For NGDA (an album Taemin has had the most influence over and participation with by co-producing and co-directing), Taemin specifically chose the concepts of Stockholm syndrome and Plato's Theory of Forms for a reason. He stated that he was in kind of an identity crisis (battle, if you will) between the real, everyday Taemin, the performer TAEMIN, and his IDEA of the perfect Taemin he wants to be - which encompasses both the real and the celebrity. From 2 Kids to IDEA we see the progression of the real Taemin breaking through the perceptions of who he appears to be and the merging of all three to bring about that perfect IDEA of Taemin. However, as per Plato, he comes to the realization that he can never really attain perfection on his own because only a powerful outside force can actually be and/or create perfection. Therefore, his IDEA of perfection can only be attained outside himself and through his Messiah - an outside higher power. In "IDEA", Taemin bluntly displays his devout faith as a Christian. His worldview is extremely important to him and is a huge part of who he is.
If you watch any live performance, you can often catch a glimpse of him making the sign of the cross during parts of his choreo (he is a devout Catholic). For example, in his performance of "Heaven", you can see him cross himself three times. In addition, Taemin's classic "T-pose" is the position of Christ on the cross - not a reference to 3rd position for a dancer.
I think rather than which era portrays the real Taemin, it's more of a continuing journey of Taemin struggling to find out who he really is as a whole person, who he wants to be, and how he wants to be viewed as that whole person rather than just as a celebrity. He has stated he wants to show the real, complete Taemin to his fans and get closer to them in a more intimate way rather than just the façade of the performer. The real Taemin is a man of deep faith who loves others and wants to share that love and be loved in return. His music is an extension of all of those facets of TAEMIN and reveals the heart of the man.

Fun fact: Taemin himself said he hated "Want Taemin" and that the persona for the concept was 100% Key's personality rather than his (which is why he playfully said he hated it) BUT he also said that he would've had the best chemistry with "Want Taemin" aka Key 🤭

I do think he a good dancer and he cute. But this song was not for me. Now some 6 months later I love it. =0p The song grew on me. To me he is saying his persona of Taemin his idea is trying to kill him. He is struggling internally. New Taemin bias here. Looking forward to learning more. Unconventional is pretty much the word that sums up quite well Taemin’s musical, conceptual and overall artistic choices and this is exactly what makes me love him so much! Because however you wanna look at that he is just different in the best possible meaning of this word - different as in unique, original and yes sometimes even shocking! And all of this combined with his absolutely gorgeous visuals and insane talent and musical intelligence makes him the legend that he is and will be for years to come. Because let’s face it - there are great vocalists out there and great dancers out there, but there is NO ONE as original as him and who can match his level of performance! Lee Taemin is at this point an Emperor of Kpop!!!

Ok so as individuals:
over all yeah most popular member is Taemin. He's a household name in Kpop one of the bestselling and most successful male kpop solo artists to date. known as the idol of idols nearly every single kpop group has a member that has either covered, collaborated, or looked up to him. Also very popular in Japan, one of the most popular korean artists (SHINee is one of the most popular kpop groups in japan so this isn't surprising and all the members are some of the most popular koreans in Japan). Beloved and well known in Korea as the nations little brother since he debuted at 14 so Korea watched him grow up etc. etc. always loved by the cast of whatever show he's on etc. No scandals, very loved personality etc.
that being said Minho comes up second for being known outside of shinee especially with his successful acting career. Korea treats actors differently than idols so he has a different kind of notoriety too in Korea especially. legendary for his passion, sports ability, small handsome face etc. this isn't just me listing positive qualities btw these are traits known by everyone, will be mentioned whenever he is on variety shows and even when he's not there. like if someone on some show says celebrities and sports in the same sentence Minho will be mentioned. Also very famous for his perfect proportions, body, face that fits korean beauty standards. Again SHINee has been around since 2008 so knowledge about the members (esp minho and taemin) are very ingrained in the industry. Minho is also very often an MC at music shows, award shows, etc.
Key is really well known in Korea especially as a TV personality as a permanent cast member of Amazing Saturday ( a korean variety show) and appearances in other shows. He's also making more of his own solo music too. His talent as a tv personality is what really skyrocketed his popularity in Korea lately. He started appearing as a regular cast member of amsat maybe four years ago? and since coming back from the military in 2020 has been all over Korea, different shows, cf's, he came out with his second solo album etc. he's Very funny, if you know Heechul? I'd say its a pretty apt comparison in terms of how he is known rn.
Onew is very popular and beloved, he just hasn't been as active as the other members outside shinee in recent years. from mid 2017 until early 2022 his solo activities were not as frequent due to a combinaton of personal choice, external circumstances, and military service (not zero just not as frequent). Has an amazing voice. My favorite voice ever actually, in and out of kpop, something about his tone is unreal. Anyway he also did some acting and a lot of variety show stuff in the earlier shinee years. The reason he's not higher rn is mainly because he was somewhat inactive (not just bc of the military) for a while.
So Jonghyun is a genius. Incredibly successful as a solo artist. This is difficult because I feel like I can only discuss his current popularity within the group (which is a lot by the way). so i cant place him in the current individual ranking. Before, He was a DJ for many years and had his own radio show so he was very well known for that. Known to be a music genius he produced and wrote songs for some very big names in kpop (like iu) in addition to SHINee and Taemin. Just as Taemin is known as being the best at dance in kpop Jonghyun was known for the best voice. It's actually insane how good his voice is. One of those things everyone in the industry knew and would mention all the time before. He was an incredibly charismatic performer as well.

so this should be taken with a grain of salt. The gaps between the popularity, (excluding taemin's fans as a solo artist), within shinee are not extreme. Like the numbers fluctuate on the year and the country. In the beginning it was something like 1.minho 2. onew 3 taemin 4 jonghyun 5 key. as years go by some become more popular than others Jonghyun gained huge success with his solo work and is legendary for his voice and producing skills (he produced some of their most loved songs like selene6.23 and view), Key is probably the most popular right now than he has ever been before, gaining huge success in Korea right now as a tv personality, onew was one of the most popular for probably the first 6- 8 years until he kind of slowed his solo public appearances for a while after 2017. he recently started back into solo work and his recognition is growing again.
objectively however, shinee is the best group i've ever seen. Each member holds their own.

Taemin is an amazing artist and such a wonderful person, I truly hope you’ll react much more to his music and also his off stage compilations (him with his cat or him speaking English are so sweet and hilarious). He’s very popular. I try to collect his merch and his photo cards are always the most expensive, plus his merch sells out super quickly 😭 I hope once he’s back he’ll have a grand comeback with proper promotions and tons of album versions (just like other members of SHINee), he deserves that for a change for once! The way they treated him with Advice and NGDA Act 1 was super disappointing and disrespectful - that’s not how you treat your company’s Ace!

in terms of popularity, for shinee, its a special case where all of the members are popular in different ways (depending on countries, demographics etc). I can explain a little for all the members starting from the oldest.
Onew - he always had the biggest fandom in korea (even till today) cos they love the tone of his voice and he has a soft personality. His voice is very soothing and calm. The public knows him better than the rest so he used to represent shinee (with minho) to go on korean variety shows. He is such a sweet guy and is funny! Otherwise I would say internationally, he is the most underrated. while he has a strong core fandom, casual kpop fans dont know him that well.
Jonghyun - He is a showstopper. Most popular member when they debutted. Charismatic and powerful voice. Over the years, he took a back seat and just quietly focused on making his own music. He has produced for other artists as well. (E.g. iu, exo) until today, he is the only SM ent artist who has released several self written albums cos that is how much the company trust him and speak volumes of his talent.
Key - Was not too popular at the start cos he had a very strong image. Different from krn standards. Over the years im so glad that it changed. After discharging from the military, key is now living one of his most successful times as an idol/entertainer (i live alone and amazong saturday) He is in 2 of korea's biggest variety shows. And has bagged several individual endorsements. He is currently the most hyped and popular member in korea. He is in huge demand!! He was also nominated for a very prestigious award show in kr recently.
Minho - he is basically the face of shinee for many years in korea and internationally. Tgt with onew, they went on variety shows to promote the group and both of them had the biggest public recognition. Minho was the first to start solo work in shinee which is acting. He goes back and forth btw acting and shinee. It's safe to say that he brought in the majority of shinee's fandom through his acting works. In 2016, there was a rumour circulating that he was one of the most highly paid korean celeb in terms of endorsement. He was the face of kpop at some point. He is popular among casual kpop stans. Currently, he doesnt have the hype and has started on acting again.
Taemin - previously i said minho was the face of the group. Now it is definitely taemin. He worked so so hard on creating his own identity as a solo act. Its hard to ignore his artistry and talent. Everyone basically knows him and their idols also worships taemin. Taemin has a biggest solo fandom since the start and it has remained as such. It is safe to say that all casual kpop stans know him or would have heard of him. He is currently in the military and we are just waiting for the KING OF KPOP to return.

I do not know if you have followed the recent trend of SHINee or you just judged from a stereotype a along time ago. But Onew is definitely not the most popular one for sure. He only got 3k likes on melon in the 1st hour release I am so sorry for that. Lee taemin is actually way more popular than any of them no matter you want to acknowledge or not. Too many evidences to prove…. At least taemin got 8k8+ likes on melon within the 1st hour release. And everyone knows that is the basic way to judge the fan base in Korea so I really can not believe you brag about Onew like this lol. I think that Onew’s fans will be so embarrassed

but ***in the fandom***, he is very very supported. onew has the biggest CORE fandom in korea. his merch always sold the most and always sell out in the group. he literally sold 139000 albums (only with 3 album ver) while key sold 100k (with his album ver, tapes, lps).
key has all the hype and onew does not yet he still sells more. his fandom (jjingus) are big and huge spenders. even in dcm, just based on their solo fancams (this can be childish(?)), u always see a lot of korean comments under his and he gets even more views than taemin cos that is where his popularity lie in. also not sure if u know, but onew was actually the first member to be offered a solo but he rejected

Radios, variety shows and even streaming of TH-cam, Onew got it all this time. Please count, more than 12 channels all offering different exclusive photocards. Is it familiar nowadays for 4th/5th gen? Yes, Onew got it all. Compared with taemin, 1 version, no special channels for card, not even 1 fan signing. How could you compare these two together? But still taemin sold more copies than Onew for 1st week🤣. Do more work and argue with me girl~

but when we include sales ***outside*** of kr, internationally taemin's sales becomes the highest. overall taemin has a bigger fandom (korea+international).
hence in my original comment, i mention how onew's popularity is more concentrated ***in korea*** compared to the other members.
so, for shinee, it is very different for each of them because it is so easy to ignore onew when he sells the most merch. he is known to be a sell out king since his fandom buys whatever he wears.

I didn't watch the video yet but i am so excited and happy you don't even understand 😭😭😭 I love Taemin a lot, his songs and MV are always masterpiece and he's also one of the first idols i ever knew. I remember Shinee's Lucifer being the first k pop dance practice vid i saw in my entire life, and i was so fascinated by Taemin's dancing skills, it was one of the reasons I got into k pop and this was only the start of my and Taemin's journey 😭

Been a SHINee fan since 2011 and Taemin was my first Kpop bias and he has grown so much over the years,from going to not having much lines in their debut songs. He's only one year older than me but i admire him so much.
He's the first member of SHINee to go solo and a lot of current idols have him as a role model. All the members have their own color when they're doing solo stuff and I always say that Taemin isn't doing any style,he's another stye of music himself. He does have a few tattoos and he does play the piano,also he's close friends with Jimin from BTS and Kai from EXO.
Move was that song that everyone was covering when it came out,it's a crime it didn't win anything. Also at the beginning he didn't like people saying he looked feminine but with Move and since then,he accepts his androgyny.

Thanks so much for appreciating Taemin's artistry. It's never too late to love him and his groups - SHINee and SuperM. I was also 'late' in getting to know them. I was like trying to stay away from kpop but it was just impossible once you get to know SHINee. I ended up loving SHINee as a group and their 5 soloists - Onew, Jonghyun, Key, Minho and Taemin.. so yeah, SuperM as well because of Taemin. So, it's like stanning 7 groups. Just don't be surprised when you start looking into SHINee - it's different from solo Taemin :) The main similarities are they are all amazing live performers, talented artists, trendsetters, and the most adorable human beings.
Btw, the Advice look that you 'absolutely love' was Taemin's own idea. It's been like that for him - he puts everything in consideration when it comes to his art - vocals, choreo, visuals and yes, that includes his beautiful hair.

If you ever consider to watch Shinee content you have to see their stages and live vocals and maybe their solo projects (not only Taemin's). They are honestly the kings of vocals and stage presence. From recent things i recommend Don't call me MV + comeback stage. And also i really like their cover of IU's "Dear name"! (Pretty random but watch it it's good)
And in general you have to react to Lucifer and Sherlock MV those are old but must to watch

Each member is popular and loved by fans. I don't like when people are trying to find "a star" in the group, they are working together as a group and we should appreciate it. If we are talking about solo work specifically, then yes Taemin is the most popular right now, especially with international fans. However Key's, Minho's and Onew's solos deserve attention, each has their unique style and truly amazing. Jonghyun was very popular, probably the most popular. I still adore his solo albums and songs we wrote for SHINee and different artists. I know you can find it inappropriate to talk about Jonghyun, maybe you think it'd upset fans, but we don't ignore him and we like to talk about his legacy. He was great musician and he deserves to be remembered. SHINee will always be five. The members themselves represent their group as five members in everything they do
taemin does play the piano, he does for don't call me as well. he says that he is still learning how to play and wants to get better and that was part of why he chose the music branch of the military until his depression and anxiety became too much to handle and he switched to public service.

TAEMIN! YES! His solo work is AMAZING, even since the first solo album. If anyone takes a look at my kpop playlist, Taemin is the soloist (when talking about his solo stuff) I have the most songs for. Nowadays, I prefer his solo songs over SHINee songs. Goodbye is amazing, it really showcases his vocals. In the beginning of SHINee career, a lot of people were saying how he doesn't have a good voice and that he won't get much attention (come on, he was like... 14? I think). He is one of the hardest working idols I have ever seen in my life. And his vocals now, like AMAZING.
Move and Want are both on my playlist as well. They're my vibe type of songs. I regularly go back to watch the Move dance practice video (I'm literally not kidding) that is one dance practice you'll want to watch. those subtle moves, absolutely beautiful. He has wonderful lines when he moves/dances. Before he went off to military, he literally had 3 comebacks within a few months of each other. Criminal > Idea > Advice. I was actually surprised at the choreo, because he WENT OFF. These 3 comebacks had the hardest choreo I have ever seen him do. I think he's one of the artists where i'm excited for his comebacks. His concepts are insane. When I saw the Advice choreo, I was like OMG, why is he going so hard?!

I hope you can do a marathon reaction to the five members as well. It's surprising to see that even if they perform as soloists, the five of them blend amazingly well together that is a complete delight to see them as a group. Needles to say that's the reason Taeminnie is an amazing live performer, just as every member in SHINee.
I would personally recommend their live performances for Sherlock, Everybody, Ring Ding Dong + Lucifer. Excuse me Miss, Love, 1000 years Always Beside You (the one that they perform in a roofless stage), There's also this cover they did last year to IUs dear name that will definitely make you go nuts.

1 - Taemin does play piano in Advice, he's a self taught pianist and loves to play, you can find pianos in lost of his works.
2 - yes he has tattoos, they're real and he almost killed me with this.
3 - MOVE is his biggest release, this song vhange his solo career forever, many many idols did covers of this, and MOVE has a video where he dances it with his choreographer ❤️
4 - his voice is good and he sings live perfectly, but this "killing me softly" voice in Advice is from BoA, the first SM soloist.
5 - For years the most famous (with the biggest solo fandom) was Jonghyun, he's SHINee's main vocal so there's a reason. But after some time people discovered all of them are talented so now they all are well know in Korea.
6 - Taemin solo is different from Taemin SHINee, he has different vibes in different works.
7 - He's a SHINee member, a soloist, a SuperM member and has a master degree in Film and Musical 🥰🥰🥰 (every SHINee member is a master or doctor in artistic courses).

SHINee released a full Korean album, repackage and Japanese mini album in 2021, with mvs for Don't Call Me, Atlantis and Superstar if you're curious to check out their recent group work! Their group work still does better than his solos in Korea, at least for streaming charts. SHINee, BTS and BigBang are the only boy groups that do well digitally these days. Taemin's mvs often get more views though. Taemin is the most popular internationally, especially with post-BTS boom kpop fans. He probably got the most promos from SM. Onew was actually the most popular in Korea in their early years, Jonghyun was very popular too and highly respected by the general public later on as a composer/songwriter. Minho was lauded for his visuals and often cited as the best looking idol in their rookie era. After years of being the least popular Key is probably the most well known now with the Korean gp because he has been everywhere on variety shows post-enlistment. Onew, Key and Minho were all in the military through 2019 and 2020 so it was very quiet for them while Taemin had many solo releases and then SuperM as well.
