Great shop. Don't deny yourself a treat Karen. It is the holiday season. Being healthy can wait for January. Just make sure you get your fruit and veg every day. Cold is coming next week. Nothing wrong with a mug of hot choc and a kit kat. Hope we all get lots of snow. Check you have all your essentials in. Could last a week.
I always impressed with your early morning shopping! I'm a nightowl, plus we live a long way away from supermarkets. 6am shopping is never going to happen here, but I remain very impressed. Yesterday I had an early (for me) hospital appt at 8:30am in town and went shopping after. No chance of bargains by the time I got there, but did a little extra ahead of the next weeks farmers events. For the vegetarian OH there was veg, bread flour and yeast, etc. Being carnivore my basket consisted of 15 packs of grass fed beef mince, some extra fat pork belly and beef bones. It will be another month until we do another supermarket run, so I'm well stocked up in fridge & freezer now. I always enjoy seeing your shopping hauls, and like you we are collecting our farm gate eggs tomorrow (£6 for a tray of 30). I hope we are all feeling super positive too !
I recently saw on a TH-cam video how easy it is to make homemade protein bars. And btw: People don’t even need 23 grams of protein in a bar. 🤷🏽♀️ Unless we are skipping meals and climbing mountains. 💗
Hello Karen! Early morning shopping haul is very impressive. Quick comment from New Jersey: my local grocery store just priced 1 pound/ 16 ounces of Land of Lakes butter at $7.79 for pete’s sake! That’s almost $2.00 for 1 stick / 4 ounces of butter! Totally bonkers.
It doesn’t compare well but old eating habits are hard to break. That’s why people buy these. They don’t realize how deeply we have been advertised to.
@@muddyshoesgardener The reason I asked was just that: years ago, I tried to find some portable protein sources that could be bought and just kept till needed. But whatever I bought back then was really a sugary sweety bar with a little protein added. Haven't used them since then, and they might have changed since?
It’s often not a matter of eating perfectly. It’s eating something better than the usual. A skinny protein bar at 85 cals is probably a much better choice than those KitKats. We are all on a learning process as we go through life.
@ I never said it wasn’t a better choice than a kitkat just to be aware of the sugar content if that is a concern for Karen none of us have a brilliant diet.
Will here in Florida in the United States of America I'm up at 5:00 a.m. and I'm on my tablet by 5:45 a.m. oh my lord it's too early to be up and yet, I am.
@@muddyshoesgardener And me, in exile in KY.(I was born in MD, live in the DC suburbs, then out West). Can you get over the low prices in Britain? I am jealous of the cream. The store brand's best price here is $5.99 for a qt. I generally get comments that "the US salaries are higher", (few people have 'salaries' here, anyway. Good luck getting two part time jobs.) In KY, the minimum wage is exactly HALF of the minimum wage in Britain.
I like cashews as well I got some cashew butter to have on toast in stead of vegemite Higher in protein. I like eggs too Is that pork for Christmas? Love crackling and homemade apple sauce I've never made butter out of cream. Not sure if you can do it with a hand mixer

Love the bargains. Rarely see them where I am in central Texas
Great use of an early morning! I am finding it very difficult to find healthy snacks that actually taste good.
Do check the ingredients on protein bars, full of rubbish like veg/seed oils and chemicals ❤

If you look at the protein bars again, how is the amount of carbs/sugar compared to the 20+g of protein?

need to remember to keep an eye on the bas seed oils too.

I hate to tell you but check the sugar in your protein bars because it out ways the amount of protein your getting.
There not that healthy
@ No they are not
You can almost guarantee that if something on the pack implies that something is healthy, it’s probably not!
