- After weeks of hard work, it's finally here- This has been such a pleasure to work on. Thank you all so much for your patience, support, interactions, and for subscribing. It truly means so much and I honestly cannot thank you all enough :)
I would like to be the first to apologize about the delay... I had a pretty unfortunate medical related incident happen and it really put a halt on my work physically and emotionally. And for that I am very sorry :(

Came up with a name for the AU version of Omori (this one at least); Hikkiko (taken from the word hikkikomori- like Omori is from it). Let me know what you think :D

Kel already shows symptoms of depression tbh, he just probably also has ADHD instead of anxiety like Sunny does. this is why he endeavors so hard to solve other people's problems, be cheery at all times, etc.
it's common for ADHD people with depression to distract themselves from their own problems by trying to involve themselves in everyone else's - this can also give them a false sense of security, feeling that they are a "good person" for helping so many people, when in reality the one that needs the most help is them.

The French horn instead of the violin gives the song a really different vibe. In the original the music felt like looking back, but in this it feels like looking forward
I think it suits Kel, too! With his energetic, kinda sun-like(huh) personality. He just feels like that type of music.

This kinda makes me a lot sadder than it being Mari and sunny. Kel is a literal ray of sunshine, and hero is too, so this hurts. Not saying that it’s not absolutely beautiful, but it hurts T-T but it’s beautiful too so congrats to you on making me feel conflicted
Nah IMO Mari and Sunny is a lot sadder, and Maris death is the most impactful than anyone else’s tbh. Mari was very close with everyone except maybe Kel, but they had a few things in common. They both liked sports, both were pranksters, and Mari and Kel where pretty much siblings, they’ve known eachother their whole lives. Hero isn’t as close with Sunny, Basil, or Aubrey.

@@letskilliceagebaby291 yes, as much as I loved working on this, the original left a strong impact on me too. Being the oldest/ big sister to not one but two younger brothers. 5 years and 10 years apart. The one who has the 10 year gap reminded me so much of Sunny, and I really connected with Mari as the big sister who loves her brother so much.
That coupled with the self-loathing dialogue in the final battle between Omori and Sunny hitt reeeeeal close to home. It made me remember when I was at my lowest and thought similarly... and almost took the... how do I say it... the 'bad ending' route on myself in real life.
Had me crying so much had to turn off my camera and sound while that same yiungest brother (who introduced me to the game) was watching me play. And pretty much sobbed all the way to the secret ending. I was sad, angry, and happy all at the same time... and this game (not to be cliché, but it's true) helped to give me the extra push to keep on learning to love, forgive, accept, and change myself for the better. Omori gave me strength I never thought a game could give me. I'm grateful for it, and can say that it is my ultimate favorite game as an adult. Haven't had something impact me like that since kingdom hearts 1 and 2. It's worth the play if you struggle with what Sunny/ Omori did inside, it's a masterpiece ✨️ 🥰🥲

I don’t know when it began, since I’d been feeling off for about a year beforehand, but my loathing truly began when I began high school in fall of 2018, worsened in summer of 2019 when one of the two friends I’d made in high school (I happened to meet both on the first day) was hit by a train and died, and began to end when I took a quarter off college in summer of 2021; I watched a speech by a man who was pulled away from the edge of a high bridge, and later that month, learned the art I’d held so close to heart since I was a child wasn’t just some juvenile delusion, finally realizing I didn’t really want to end-I just wanted to be happy
Omori became the second work to ever make me cry by reminding me exactly how I felt back then and forcing me to relive the most difficult thing I’d ever had to do: stop running, and forgive myself
(The first was that movie about that dog in japan who died of old age waiting every day at the train station for his dead owner because I watched it within a month of my dog dying)
Omori showed me two things: my guilt stemmed from feeling like I wasn’t doing enough for the people around me-and by extension-the fact I live to make others happy; and how unfulfillingly I’d spent all these years of my youth, carrying a general sense of fear and disinterest for the outdoors and relying on nothing more than my family for social interactions; my family, who are either introverted and occasionally seek out isolation, or far too busy with work or recovering from its strains to satisfy my needs
In the roughly ten days after experiencing this game, I’ve began to take greater pride in my life to make up for the years I’ve lost
I’ve become far more open to others, begun studying musical composition and narrative writing, picked up art again, and when I feel like it, play the piano
I’ve never been happier and things only have been looking up from here
Hero is also my favorite and it just sucks to see him dead.

I have been trying out for awhile and man those high notes.
@AdamTaylor12 you can "round down" the note to make them less higher (some of the notes you vant even play, atleast not on euphonium)
@@AdamTaylor12 Hello! Late response, however theres a lot of ways to train for high notes on horn! A major way is to really focus on fast and consistent airflow rather than just tightening chops. Actually warming up and practicing the extreme low range helps with the high range, as they use the same principle. Fast controlled air, rather than just chops. The more you work at it, the more comfortable your high range will get! Lip slurs and low range are the keys (At least for me) to getting a clearer high range

Yes they are! And yes there is :) apparently its been around for quite a bit. Idk how much of the AU is officially planned out but I've been having a blast coming up with plot ideas with the community in the comments. Everyone so far has just been kind and fantastic.💕
I think Aubrey should be in Basil's place, it would be interesting of the two kids that fought a lot got into such an accident, and then distanced themselves, people would think they just started hating each other more or something else, but it would be something way harder to deal with
This is more depressing because both Kel and hero are very similar and both got along much and their very happy people.

I don’t really have any ideas at the moment so I’m just gonna repost what I said in the last preview, but when I do I’ll make sure to edit my comment when I think of any lol.
I have some ideas!
Maybe instead of Kel being as depressed as Sunny, maybe he’s a little less cheerful and more calm like Hero, and even acts like him as a way to cope (because he thinks he has to take the role of the big brother of his friend group now), but occasionally has flashbacks/hallucinates stuff (more so than Sunny) that has to do with his brother and constantly tries to avoid them by running away or covering it up with the good ol’ “haha i’m totally fine” whenever someone asks if he’s okay.
Also, the hallucinations should probably happen often in kitchens (because cooking) and maybe one or two times during a picnic. And instead of Something it could be a monochrome/slightly grey Hero (because Kel would never imagine his brother as a spooky ghost demon, probably) which maybe has more dialogue options when interacting with him than just jumpscares/disappearing as soon as you see him.
And as for Hero’s death, I have absolutely no idea, but it probably has to do with cooking. Maybe he accidentally set the house on fire while cooking and didn’t survive? I haven’t thought much about it yet but it’s pretty funny lol.

Yepperoni! :) that post (idc if i doxx me lol) would be from me and this has been a one woman show. I wanted to share it with the community. I really love this Fandom and what the game stands for. Its message is something that's been missing I think for a lot of people in their lives... the motivation to keep going and you CAN change, love, and learn to accept yourself. It's never too late

Sunny and Mari would be as usual but Mari wouldn’t be her old self and Sunny would just be Sunny.
I like to think that maybe basil or Aubrey would be the one to take kel out of his house since sunny is still dealing with his fingers bleeding and l that.. If it's still even canon in this au.

Today, I’m gonna live for baby Kel.
Here's my idea:
Omori as normal still happens during this route, and Sunny's the one who helps Kel frame hero's death. I feel like Mari shouldn't be coming back from college until the final day of the run, after the gang gets Aubrey to come out of her shell.
Kel wouldn't have a Hikkikomori route, but his dreams would be far more vivid. This would instead also be a 4 day structure, where Kel is hanging out with Basil on day one, but after talking with him more, Basil gets super hesitant on Kel, as he's more vocal than Sunny. Day 2 would then be Omori as normal, but Basil would basically be running away from both Sunny and Kel.
Final day would be Mari getting the group together to check on Basil, Sunny fights Basil to the death, and Kel is confronted with a similar scene, and this is where the final sequence with Kel starts, and I think it would be one fight with Omori, and then another with his own version of Omori.
Nooo, I missed it..
But still, this is absolutely amazing! You captured the art style very well! I love all the expressions and everything, especially at the last part!

Hero and Kel are like me and my older brother. And I seriously mean that (except I'm not athletic and my older brother wasn't into cooking growing up). Kel is my favorite character because I see myself in Kel (it's frustrating to me that people just see him as always happy himbo when there's clearly so much more to his character), and I always thought Hero reminded me of my older brother. Later, my older brother told me that Hero was his favorite character because he could see himself in Hero and Kel reminded him of me. The thought of losing my older brother like this is honestly devastating. I can't even fathom what that would be like. He is such a good role model and I've always looked up to him. Especially so young. And with my best friend there. He already moved away less than a year later from that time in my life. My mom lost her older sister when she was a teenager. She's talked about how hard that was for her. I can't even imagine.

I appreciate that you noticed that detail, I think my favorite and most difficult thing about this was but this was changing the positions of Mari and Hero. In the original shoriginal shot Hero is on the right side and Mari is on the left

I just saw fics of aubrey and basil being named like that. I haven't seen hero's though. Still I like how well made this video is. If kel has a 'whitespace' i'll probably called it yellow space. I'd like to think that kel daydreams so he always spaces out or hallucinates not noticing whats real or whats not. His 'omori' will probably keep a smile on his face. Its really fascinates me to see au's like this. Like what if hero took the role of sunny? Or basil, aubrey- basically anyone. Like how will their somethings look like? But again great workkk!
I think Hikkiko would keep smiling and even if he's sad or angry he would still in some way present those emotions while still keeping that same smile.
Speaking of which people said that Hero would be called "Hikkiko" but I guess Kel already took the name? Oh well.

It really feels like made as an actual recording. Never thought of Kel using a french horn, but wasn't a bad choice at all! That song is the best on the game and I consider listening to the original as a spoiler on itself, so a so well made adaptation is gorgeous!

In some ways an AU like this is way harder to think about because Kel is such a silly happy guy, and to think of him losing his spark is SAD. Sunny becoming a hikkikomori is not unthinkable since he was already a shy sad boi.

It reminds me that in my HIKITO/HIKKIKEL AU, Hero's death was kinda because of Kel's innocence. To explain, it was Hero and Mari's couple birthday, and while preparing for the date, Kel asked Hero to play pillow fight with him. Hero didn't have much time so he declined the offer. Kel, being stubborn, pushed the idea, and at some point Hero just started to go to the stairs to avoid the fight. Kel saw in that an opportunity to make Hero play with him.

After that, either it's Aubrey who saw everything, either (in my preferences) it's Mari (NOT TRYING TO COPY ANYONE IT'S JUST FUNNIER TO THINK THAT THE FOUR DUMB KIDS ARE TRYING TO FIND MARI AND TRAVELLING THROUGH HEADSPACE LIKE THAT SORRY-).

When I look back on making this and listening to playthroughs- I realized the way Hero would die was right in front of us the whole time. Their basketball hoop on the street.... after all the interactive text DID read that "it looked kind of dangerous".... 🤭🤫
