There is no replacement to Shree g Harishankar in this world. There may be good mridangists but in Khanjira it is only g Harishankar. Hatsoff to the maestro.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Prof. Trichy Sankaran is able to produce such amazing naadam on mridangam and he strictly follows the Pudukottai school and Palani's style of playing is living through him. Hats off to him.
Exhilarating performance by Mastro Trichi Sankaran Sir and Mastro Hariprasad Sir in Mridangam and Kanjira respectively..Very pleasant to hear this Thaniavarthanam👍👍
Both Trichy Sankaran and Harishankar are maestros.. in their respective instruments. What a Thani it is?... Technically both are extremely powerful and excellent.
Wah!! What a thaniavarthanam... Semmangudi mama's reaction to Sankaran Sir playing at 4:08 says it all.... Replayed it numerous times to listen to the reaction again and again.
Hats off to terrific sound recording! Usually kanjira gets drowned in the sound of mridangam. But in this video, I thoroughly enjoyed Shri Harishankar’s fine performance!
Our present young percussion talents must immensely watch the scintillating performance of these maestros of yester years. What a magical performance!!!👌👌🙏🙏
This is exactly called mastery over their respective instrument. Both Shankaran sir and Harishankar sir are at their prime time showing pinnacle of instrument playing. This is just can not be re-produced. Period.
When you perform with Harishankar, you cant play whats your strength, rather play to his weakness. Well it doesnt matter actually, Just enjoy his Mastery.
Dilip Warrier at 2:10 he said ‘jora vaasi da’ - it could mean ‘play loudly’ (it could also mean ‘play well’ - ‘go for it’ kind of thing) At 3:54 he said ‘shabaash’ (well done) At 356 he said something like ‘if you play God will be pleased’ (I heard something KadavUl) but his voice trailed off so I couldn’t get it completely!
At 3:56 he say, nee vaasichiyaa, illa summa thadaviniya.... Meaning...., did you really play or just beat around the bush... Mostly kind of a sarcastic tone I feel. His Sabhaash, say it all though.
I do not have much knowledge of the things going on but it appears as though Harishankar is not playing what Trichy Sankaran is playing . Is it played that way or is it Harishankar's style??
No actually it's equivalent of Trichy sankran sir's playing in kanjira. All mridangam sollus when played exactly on kanjira will not be mellifluous. But harishankar sir is an exception. Anyhow they will play equivalent which is apt on the situation.
The lead singer should have kept quiet while percussionist playing.. I know he is a great singer (SSI, if I am not wrong) but speaking, counting Swaras extremely harder by making noise while they were playing is absolutely nuisance and irritating..should have shown much respect on the other artists who are performing with him..I will give 16 Bharat Ratna to the greatest, iconic, divine soul - God of Khanjira “G HARISHANKAR”..

Trichy Shankaran is one of the finest Indian Drummer at the time keeping the Pudukkottai Parampara alive 🙏🙏
We really feel someone among us should learn from this tradition. In kerala we can't get masters like him
I had attended this concert

How was Semmangudi mama's singing ?
Wow... Ur Lucky 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Exhilarating performance by Mastro Trichi Sankaran Sir and Mastro
Hariprasad Sir in Mridangam and Kanjira respectively..Very pleasant to hear this Thaniavarthanam👍👍
Electrifying thani .... another outstanding one from Trichy Sri Sankaran and Sri Harishankar .... what a treat!
this is hypnotizingly insane level of percussions
The speed at which Harisakars fingers fall on leather is that of a helicopter wing!!!!😀😀😀
Nice one lol 👏
@Lakshmi Ajay V it's a kuchi mridangam.
Actually I think even faster.. 😊
no. it's a hummingbird wings. faster
A helicopter has blades...Not wings 🤦♂️
Both Trichy Sankaran and Harishankar are maestros.. in their respective instruments. What a Thani it is?... Technically both are extremely powerful and excellent.
what a mridangist can play with 4 hands, Harishankar can do it with only 1. What a legend!!
My father Bhaskarabhatla Krishnamurthy, and Sankaran Sir ..both are Legend Palani Subrahmanyam Pillay disciples.
This is Palani' s "parampara..."
Nandeeswara namasthubyamu yam shantha ananda prachana, Mahadevan sevarthanm amut5ham fathima Arhasi
Nandeeswara namathu yam shantha ananda pradayaha , Mahadeva sevartham anugyam dhathum arhasi
Marvellous Thaniavartham. Every minute worth in gold.
Thundering Tani avartham.Golden periods of karnatic music.
Wah!! What a thaniavarthanam... Semmangudi mama's reaction to Sankaran Sir playing at 4:08 says it all.... Replayed it numerous times to listen to the reaction again and again.
What did he say? Couldn’t hear it...

Hats off to terrific sound recording! Usually kanjira gets drowned in the sound of mridangam. But in this video, I thoroughly enjoyed Shri Harishankar’s fine performance!

Jora vaasi da..
Oh Hello
Please read ad Harishankar sir
When you perform with Harishankar, you cant play whats your strength, rather play to his weakness. Well it doesnt matter actually, Just enjoy his Mastery.
Did a weakness ever exist for Harishankar?
What did Semmangudi say at 2:10. And again something at 3:56...(to Harishankar Sir) Any idea?
Dilip Warrier at 2:10 he said ‘jora vaasi da’ - it could mean ‘play loudly’ (it could also mean ‘play well’ - ‘go for it’ kind of thing)
At 3:54 he said ‘shabaash’ (well done)

His Sabhaash, say it all though.
what did Semmangudi Iyer tell Harishankar after his first round?
Wow! Fantastic! How good you're playing!
while playing there is no mistake. These were the words spoken by Shri Semmemgudi after Khanjira's first round.
joara vaasikirar - means playing well
good
What song was being sung before this Thani?
RTP in Bhairavi
I do not have much knowledge of the things going on but it appears as though Harishankar is not playing what Trichy Sankaran is playing . Is it played that way or is it Harishankar's style??

can anybody tell the thala ???
Mishra jati Thriputa Tala consisting of 7plus4 matras.
Is that a westerner playing the kinjera? Or is he albino?
His name is Harishankar he is not Westerner .......
I think he is an Indian who has leucoderma
Harishankar was an albino.
Please don't try to look at the skin colour of anyone and brand them..see only the extraordinary talent behind them..
He is the GOD of Kanjira. A genius whom nobody has been able to assess. He is beyond assessment. Talent which is beyond measure.
take a bow :) :) :) _/\_
