    I had a gen 1 cb1000r for couple years when Honda published it. Easiest bike to wheelie ever with really even torque cross wide range of rpm and really good city bike. Ended up getting zx-10r after it since it was really lacking on ground clearance and suspension was bit soft even after some tuning. But fun street bike!

    If you're saying the rear shock is soft, that is the reason the steering feels flighty under quick throttle applications. Adjusting the suspension preload to get the correct sag front and rear for your weight and then adjusting the rebound damping to rise nice and slow will make a world of difference to begin. Next adjust the compression damping on the front for brake dive support and the rear compression damping for acceleration support.

    I'm with you on the buzz, I also didn't feel next to nothing when I tried one. It's definitely my favourite litre naked . The MT is awesome but more aggressive than this one not to mention more trips needed to the fuel station. I tried this bike in 2018 and feel it's gone under the radar for so long now and is just started to get properly recognised. Good work there chaps!

      Stanley Blazeraznik give me the early 80’s bikes any day. Loved the red and white ‘83 CB1100F. That’s the way I think bikes are supposed to look, not the cuts and edge styling (spaceship) of today’s bikes. I bought a new Suzuki GS1100E (red of course) in ‘83 and paid $3495. Can’t even get a 300cc bike today for that. This one does look awesome though

    2:07 For me this is a good compromise between looks and practicality. It leaves the tail of the bike free, which looks great, but affords some protection from spray on wet roads.
    I have a CB650R and love the way that bike looks too, but the tail section lets it down. I’ve held off from putting on a tail tidy as I don’t want to get soaked in the wet. If I could get this sort of solution at a reasonable price for the 650r, I’d be all over it.
    Once again, great video - always enjoy the production and bringing @rarefiedroad in occasionally offers a good balance of opinions. Keep up the good work!

    Nice review, Gentlemen! As for the bike, I like it. I like it a lot. As an owner of a Z900RS, I guess you could say I suffer from vanity :-) I think Honda have done a sterling job with the looks of the CB1000R, particularly when you stack it up against the much more expensive (admittedly more powerful and no doubt the winner on the track) Ducati Streetfighter V4. Where the Streetfighter looks like a cross between a fridge and cobra, somehow Honda have designed the CB to be angular AND curvaceous in just the right proportions in my opinion. It looks efficient, neat and compact, while pleasing the eye with some rounded-edges on the tank and the single-sided swing arm. Lovely! And if it rides as well as you say, for a PCP price of a hundred quid a month, that is a winner in the real world. Who'd buy the Streetfighter? It's not going to work any better on the road, and for a little more money the panigale would be the best bang for the track...Nice.

    The only things I don't like is the dash and that little cowling. I dig the retro styling and that rear aluminum subframe is so gorgeous. Can Honda make an 800cc triple engined bike similar to this? Have they ever made a triple? That would shake the MT09 sales a bit wouldn't it?

    With the 2021 Fireblade coming, Honda should update the performance of CB variants as well. Time to go 200HP on these!

And I'm not such a fan of the styling of the stock can. The tiny blond Dutch girl travelled thousands of miles ALONE in out of the most hostile violent countries in the world with a 24 hp. Enfield. no support vehicles like the five 2ton 4X4 trucks with doctors, mechanics, Camera men and a Chef , a parts supply like BMW dealer on "The long way 'round" and "Long way down" more pitiful was electric bikes to Patagonia it was scary and emotional for them, a testy girlie spat ensued ! Ho Hum, little Dutch girl had already been there done that alone. Itchy boots TH-cam. Regards.

    I'm in the market for a new bike, it's between this and a 2020 Street Triple RS, I know the only thing they really have in common is they're nakeds but I really like them both. Test rode both and each are great for what I want to use them for, weekend hooning, no track days, occasionally riding to work on it. Personally I think the CB1000R+ looks better but the Triple RS is better equipped. Disregarding the cost which one would you buy and live with? (not interested in the Speed Triple, I know that may be a better comparison in terms of power but it don't do it for me)

    • @motobob
      @motobob  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tough call! I’d just go with whichever put the biggest smile on your face on the test ride. That’s the one you’ll be happiest with for longest.

    I hesitated for a long time between this one and the Suzuki gsx-s 1000 last year and ended up picking the Suz for the price difference (about €2,000). I love my bike but I still think the Honda looks a bit greater and is much more High tech. Definitely these bikes love the REV and I'm happy that I'm in a country where very high speed is not a problem!
