The AER-14 makes fights with fiends look like star wars.
Rinus Steynberg except they're more accurate
I love the aer14, it's nice and accurate and that damage, better than the q 35 given its better accuracy.
Plus Just Lucky I'm Alive level 50 perk.
@@ShadowHunter120 I personally like the Q-35 in close quarters, it hits hard and is efficient. But all in all, I highly prefer the AER-14
@Rou Dabral Good shit. Psycho. Top quality. You want? Might know a guy who knows a guy.
Your voice is so badass
Glad I'm not the only one who thinks that!
You can get the better version of the gauss rifle, AND the alien blaster. All you have to do is have the old world blues dlc, go get the upgraded gauss rifle, and then start up old world blues, and change your traits, to select wild wastelands, after you finish old world blues, go back to where the camp should be, and the aliens will be there, kill their captain, and take the alien blaster.
Does this work in the other order
@@brandonharris5867 i don think so. Imma try tho
@@brandonharris5867 yes but you lose wild wasteland after old world blues
Yeah I've tried this several times and it simply doesn't work
I use Elijah’s advanced LAER, it’s just OP, but the condition deters faster that a 90 year old walking up 10 flights of stairs.
Jury rigging ftw.
This gun literally breaks the game with the damage output. It's so ugly yet so much better than all the other energy rifles except maybe YCS-186
ive used and crafted so many repair kits due to this weapon
I prefer the standard LAER but that's just me
Laser rifle+ for the win in my books in terms of consistency and efficiency. Though the LAER's are great if something just needs to be erased.
The laser rife with the damage mod, beam splitter, laser commander and character with good crit chance is a very solid build. Better ammo efficiency then many of the unique weapons which use 2 or 3 times the ammo
It's actually ridiculously good. Granted, it's apparently somewhat due to a bug with the beam splitter, but regardless.
This bad boy can potentially carry you from the early going of the game all the way to the end with not many things it can't handle.
It is potentially, in my opinion one of the single most powerful and efficient weapons in the game, with little to no competition.
Here I am twelve years later fixing to do another playthrough on New Vegas so I've got to re-watch all your gun videos, it's gonna be a long day 😅, I know you'll probably never see this comment but much love from Kentucky dude thank you for putting up these gun videos for a simple guy like me
Thanks, I see more of the comments than you may believe!
@@willstrife holy shit lol
Favorite type of weapons in the series for me. It also helps that aside from the very rare NPC, the enclave are really the only faction to primarily use plasma rifles. Van graffs are a bunch of scumbags who stole them so they don't count
Question,
Elijah advance LAER riffle or q35 matter modulator?
The feinds are constantly using plasma rifles for me
damn this is very well edited for 2011, congrats to u or whoever edited it
A fully modified laser rifle will pretty much carry you through to the end game.
*****
yeah right
Maybe on very easy
***** Agreed, i just no kill ran.
I'd say the YCS/186 is better, but the laser rifle with all mods is great too.
TheBlackLighthouse or my (gra) full moded antimateriel riffle
Assozat Don't you have to kill people to progress? If you don't kill people, no XP or anything, so there's no speech options to bail you out of some fights...
11 years ago? These cinematics look like they were captured yesterday
Take a drink every time he says 'base'
Of what...your piss?
If you're into that kind of stuff
Шейн Тиг Well I'm going to bed with that thought in my head, have fun.
Duck Call the coroner because that guy just got murdered!
Ok but I’m 13 I’m stuck with doctor pepper
No joke you have one of the best guides for this game than any other person iv seen on youtube
Highest quality and extremely helpful.
probably the best intro for a guide if ever seen. LIKE
Get ED-E and then go to lonesome road and find 2 eyebots, which then he can produce 20 (35 with a check) energy cells or MF cells (for people with not much caps)
Mecha Waffle That's kind of game breaking since both ED-E's are supposed to be the same entity.
+BoZoiD57 you can't bring the Cloned ED-E to the mojave, but the upgrades come with you
Mecha Waffle I thought you meant to bring the ED-E from the vanilla game into the Divide with you.
2021 and it's still a badass series.
I know this video is talking about the main game, but my favorite energy rifle would have to be LAER from Old World Blues. Elijah's advanced LAER, to be precise.
elijahs breaks to quick
danielmhfu
Weapon Repair Kits, baby.
The Atomic Cherry mf cells and wrk too heavy for hardcore and the stuff to make it
danielmhfu
If you're trying to make a point, or, say anything at all, I can't understand you.
The Atomic Cherry im just saying that there is better energy weapons if your on hard core if not then its ok
Dang. This was 2011 and it looks like it was made just yesterday. Wow. These videos are great!
A phased plasma rifle in the 40-Watt range?
Sorry buddy, only what you see here.
Japonesio06 The Uzi 9-Millimeter?
OhioGentleman WRONG
Those plasma rifles aren't plasma rifles
*Loads shotgun* “oh you can’t do that” *BANG*
William, I keep watching these guides over and over again, and have inspired me to start making guides of my own.
i would like to point out that the Q-35 is basically the A3-21 from fallout 3 but just redesigned to fallout new vegas's updated plasma rifle texture...considering how much i used that gun in fallout 3 GOTYE i would def. say it is worth getting
yes plus the damage is much higher, i personally always used A3-21 plasma rifle, reservists rifle, and the terrible shotgun
+Bilbaw Baggies well the combat shotgun is super common...any raider group you find they either have 10mm pistols, Chinese pistols, hunting rifle, assault rifles, sawed off shotguns or combat shotguns
i did everything there was to do and now i just mod the game...i installed a home base mod that has a weapons wall so now my goal is to collect all the unique weapons and put them on the wall
ah well that is problematic

So I'm just curious, what is everyone's favorite Energy Weapon in the game overall? Doesn't matter if it's from add-on or not.
My pick: the AER14 Prototype. Why? Because it has a decent DMG output, doesn't take much ammo to use, can be repaired with easy-to-find AER9 Laser Rifles, has a decent item HP, has lower spread, and gets benefits from Laser-weapon-based perks, most of which (if not all) I have. Plus, it's DMG and DPS are pretty insane when paired with Max-charge MFC ammo, considering that it's only a single beam unlike the Tri-beam LR (Which is also awesome with MC ammo and mods)
M Modulator.
Mine is the qr.something, it used fifty percent less energy and more damage
for Fallout 3: A321's plasma rifle I use it the whole time
NV: AER14 or Tribeam
Q35 Matter Modulator for sure.
Fallout 3: gauss rifle honorable mention metal blaster
Fallout nv: ycs 186
They both are probably my favorites overall in both games
The Q-35 can be obtained in the very start of the game, if you take the direct route to new vegas. It makes it the very best early game weapon because it comes with 2 nikola tesla & u and about 200 MF cells
Where's the second book?
The way you set up your videos is one of the best Ive seen, keep up the great work!
"I love the smell of plasma in the morning."
Haha, which character says that again?

One of the best intros on TH-cam.
You forgot to mention that Q-35 also consumes only 1 cell instead of 2 (the original plasma rifle consumes 2 cells), which is a big thing in the early game.
Thank a lot Mr Strife... your guides have made this game even more fun than it already was.
My favorite will always be the Metal Blaster. Still, mods that allow the modding of unique weapons make the AER-14 a pretty good substitute.
Well done mate, i love how you make this guides interesting even for us that have already got our hands on this weapons!
I enjoyed it from the beginning to the end and going to continue right now to your guide Number 6 :)
the q-35 matter modulator also have a charge shot
firewithin deamon
It has increased damage, the plasma is fired at twice the speed, there is a regular interval between shots and it is also far more durable.
Plazma for me please...
I thought it did slightly less damage used one microfusion cell per shot instead of two had higher fire rate and durability and slightly higher crit rate.
Oh yeah higher projectile speed as well.
This video helped me with my Energy Build. Got the AER14 Prototype and the Q-35 Matter Modulator before getting to the strip and before level 10 :) Thank you so much for these videos
what's the song played in the beginning.
still coming back to this game and these videos. I've watched your videos for ages and really like them and I forgot to subscribe ages ago so here you go! By the way, keep up the good work. I respect the amount of time you into your videos, something I hope to see more of n the future, unfortunately few youtubers spend this much time on their vids.
I love you bro ya helping me a lot.
your voice is epic and your editing is made of pure awesome!
now im sad because i really like the gauss rifle and i wanted this upgrade BUT I TOOK WILD WASTELAND. damnit. im level 39 right now x.x
KarRuptAssassin Same problem here :(
pc master race thanks, but i suffered a crash in the middle of honest hearts that reset my character to level 10 stats, while at level 43
HØuSsaM PÃTiKkØ yes however my stats got fucked in a crash, so im just starting a new game
HØuSsaM PÃTiKkØ ty
+HØuSsaM PÃTiKkØ (PÃt9990) are you sure? i have old world blue i picked wild wasteland and got the alien blaster. after the dlc i changed my perks and there was still a ufo
These videos are beyond well-made
What's with the pixelation? Wtf?
+eliteministas
why not?
Pepper Millers because it looks like shit?
Something that should be mentioned about the Q-35 is that it is more efficient than its standard counterpart, taking one MF cell to operate as opposed to the normal two cells required by standard plasma rifles. This can be a major factor in the user's preference: do they want a standard, modifiable, yet less eficient plasma rifle, or a slower-projectiled, harder-to-obtain but more effective one?
The alien blaster is better than the YCS186 in my opinion, but ammo is limited if you don't have console commands
can you get more if you have the alien dlc?
it does less base damage but always critically hits, so almost every shot disintegrates an enemy. good for those damn deathclaws
yeah but you can't beat disintegrations
zane brown Thats in Fallout 3
You deserve so much more subscribers. One of the most helpful channels ever
Laser RCW anyone?
RavionUltimate The only fully automatic laser weapon in the game besides the gatling laser, my man.
RavionUltimate
Fully modified that shit with an energy weapon build and I was unstoppable.
RokosBasilisk I love the rcw including it's attachment😀
that weapon has a special place in my heart, only problem is it chews through ammo about as fast as it chews through enemies
Ware do you get the RCW?
the heck this video is super-well done, even in 2020.
The editing in these videos is amazing.
I know that voice...
"This is Ben Fong-Torres. I'm the music editor at Rolling Stone magazine."
Nice vid, Much appreciated!
Ahhh that intro tune gets me right in the feels every time.
FINALLY MY MOST FAVORITE OF ALL WEAPONS ARE BEING COVERED THANK YOU LINK!!!!
I can't wait for the DLC weapon guides for New Vegas
@timojattu
More weapon guides are to come, but unfortunately my life has been swamped with obligations. Thus I have had little to no time for scripting and research, much less recording and editing.
Hopefully things will turn around soon though.
I already got all the weapons, i just watch it because i like how you narrate it
Man, I just love your voice and your videos! You have such a nice voice, you explain very well and your videos are just great quality and nice effects. Can't wait for your Fallout 4 guide. *If Fallout 4 comes out next year or in 2014.*
Fully modded laser rifle is a great cheap multi purpose weapon you can get very early by the way, and if used right it can do very high damage! With beam splitter allowing 3 beams with no spread and chance of a critical hit with all 3 beams (outside of vats) and a long range scope, couple this up with max charge microfusion cells and you have a great and cheap sniper rifle. I took the whole gauss rifle merc camp out from range in a few seconds with it without them even firing a shot back at me!
Woah. These videos are beyond well made. Fantastic job.
@Shotoran
ah u see this man actually takes the time to single out the more UNIQUE weapons rather than just make a generalized video on the various weapon types
@TheRunninggun44 they're not really laser shotguns, but when you shoot them, three beams come out instead of one. so it's pretty much just a long range shotgun laser type thing
If you play on the PC one fun lore friendly mod is the Wattz 2000 Laser rifle from Fallout 1 and 2. It has a good fire rate and lots of damage (still less than a plasma rifle but it's close). You can get this weapon from the Classic Fallout Weapons mod and it's found on fiends and can be bought at the Van Graffs.
my favorite energy weapon? well at this point in time I usually never touch energy weapons, that was until I got the dead money dlc, and the holorifle was given to me. at first I though, "please let me find a revolver" but after a while when I finally used it, I really enjoyed it. so much that it became one of my 6 main weapons on the weapon slot.
What can i say , just perfect videos , even if i have aloot of mods , its still from the best FalloutNV tutorials ever , Good Job Mate :D
Believe it or not I was about to say something very similar, thank you!
I agree with this guy 100%.
i love this show thank you.i can bet this is the best wepon guide ever.
@butheadbros look at the mod, if its from the GRA, you can only mod the weapon from GRA. For example if you buy a custom bolt for the anti materiel rifle, and the mod says (Gun Runners' Arsenal) you can't put it on the base model. But on the GRA one.
Posted from my iPhone
I am a huge energy weapons fan and i can't wait to see what they have for fallout 4 :D
@bestfilmz
I'm thinking 4th dimensionally, if DLC that comes out later and has more powerful weapons that trump what's in the video, people start to say "your wrong gun X, Y, or Z is far better".
By saying "in the base game" those people then to stay quiet, because they know DLC and add-ons are excluded from the video.
these are the best guides the intros amazing and voice is really nice and soothing and omg i love them
@xXSUBJECT4Xx
Yup, I totally forgot to mention weapons found in content that didn't exist yet, and furthermore can't be found in the Mojave Wasteland!
I clearly need to work on my foresight. Then I could even review games that haven't even been developed yet!
Why didn't I think of it sooner?!
@ireternalexistence
It's unavoidable, the plasma caster has to be covered somewhere in these videos.
You are never alone.
@unempoleon wepon repair kits go to the workbench go the bottom of the list to find to list of items you need however you also need a 70 repair skill to make it
after you have one (or a few) all you need to do is equip the weapon and select the kit and no it does not work on armour
@RocoTehBeast
I usually check my pronunciations against the Merriam-Webster online dictionary. Proper pronunciation tends to keep nitpickers quite.
if you have the wildwastland trait it is possibly to obtain the unique gauss rifle butt only if you have the old world blues add-on. at the sink in the big empty in old world blues there is an auto-doc whic can change your two traits hou picked in the beginning but only once so once you take off the wild wastland perk you cant get it back. same works if you want the alien blaster instead you get the wildwastland trait
If you want a New Vegas that's mostly unchanged aside from aesthetics (better looking interface and textures) and various bug fixes, I'd recommend: MTUI, NVEC Bugfix compilation, NVSE 4GB, Pipboy Readius, Essential Visual Enhancements, Enhanced Blood Textures, Weapon Retexture Project and NMC's Medium Texture Pack. I use them all together and they work fine and the game is still balanced and looks amazing (doesn't add any "God" weapons or armor that are ridiculously overpowered).
No it is not!
The plasma rifle shots one bolt, so does the matter modulator and they share the same boy design. The muliplas riffle fires three bolts of plasma, and has a different physical design.
Holy shit, a 40 second intro that isn't completely obnoxious and superfluous!
It's not judged by how it fires. It is determined by ammunition/power the Gauss runs on batteries so it is classified under the "Energy" weapons list.
I was hoping to see Laser RCW. It was really useful for me, because I had a TON of electron charge packs.
just redownloaded fallout new vegas and already lvl20 and completed house story, these weapon guides have been very helpful and of high quality great work!! :)
That intro never gets old
The Q-35 is more useful than you make it seem, since it can potentially be obtained at level one if you take the tour and know which route to take to quickly get the keycard without triggering the security system. It can be obtained way earlier than a regular plasma rifle which is crazy.
Energy weapons depends on batteries or some type of chemical energy to fire (energy cells, microfusion cells, flamer fuel, and etc) while non-Energy Weapons aka Guns depends on bullets.
Energy weapons are usually a lot more accurate, pack more punch than their normal gun counterparts, yet at the cost of being less durable, ammo is hard to come by and heavy (Hardcore mode) and most energy weapons are semi-automatic.
Guns are more reliable as they are more durable and ammo is easier to come by
I found the AER14 prototype on accident when wandering the wrong way in that vault and looking down. haha I love that gun.
rly ppl try to make fun cus he said something wrong but this guy is defenitly the 1 with the most knowledge of fallout and tes
Thank you linkthe1st for revealing the unique gauss rifle.
full modified Laser rifle is bugged outside of vats , each beam can crit individually . so it can one shot every enemy in the game with a full crit build
Ik you put this comment here like 2 years ago, but what you said also means that they each individually ignore 2 points of damage threshold with regular microfusion cells, which means that if you use overcharged or optimized cells they ignore a total of 15 DT, and with max charge cells they ignore 30 DT. The laser rifle is debatebly one of, if not the best energy weapon in the game.
@1000123blair
No, I screwed up there.
I mix up east and west very easy for some odd reason.
you can get the alien blaster and the YCS/6 at the same time. you have to have the old wold blues dlc and if you get the right thing for the auto doc you can choose the trait to have wild wasteland i did this
has anyone told you how EPIC you are? cause your EPIC! thanx, I just started an energy weapon character.
The modded laser rifle is one of my favorites in the game. Not the most powerful, but arguably one of the most versatile and reliable.
Love the YCS/186. Due to it's high counsumption of ammo, I use it exclusively for hunting deathclaws.
@theanimer1
lol, the word was originally a french mans name. Hence the reason why you say it "ow" (like ouch) instead of ah.
@robodevil11 The normal gauss rifle can be find in the hidden vault the bos wear them, the special one you can only find if you dont have the wild wasteland perk
Nice work as usual. I take it from what you said at the end that weapons such as the Plasma caster will be covered in another vid, yes?
Also worth mentioning if you have Old World Blues DLC:
Elijah's advanced LAER
(Big Mountain; Laser Weapon)
I don't know about the YCS 186. There's a huge glitch where using the gun in VATS reduces the damage slightly and critical damage isn't accounted for. It's a weapon you can only use outside of VATs to get the most out of.
I agree some of the Weapon Mods are over Powered but some of the Armor Mods are nice. Also Nevada Skies is a pretty good Weather Mod if your into Weather Changes Project Reality kills my PC Performance but it looks better than Nevada Skies.
Don't worry, you should be able to go back and get it just fine, but I'd recommend using a fully modded Laser Rifle for general purpose instead since it's more efficient in terms of damage per ammo expended and easier to use at long range thanks to the scope.
Pretty much, however really it depends on your personal preference. I for one enjoy Guns as I like the sound and feel of the gun when I fire at my enemies, while others who prefer Energy weapons like the way how they can melt or disintegrate their enemies.
All in all if you wanna do the most damage in a fight go Energy, however if you wanna survive the fight to fight another one go Guns. And in a Wasteland like this, survival is key.
Finally a good weapon guide! :D Thanks man!
Hi Link, your videos are amazing, but I have a question: What do you think is the most fun, guns or energy weapons?
More likely than not, you went inside a casino (probably Gomorrah) when Boone had the YCS/186 equipped. This is a known bug and the only way around it is to revert to an earlier save or use console commands to give yourself another YCS/186. This is why I ALWAYS make sure to take all my companion's weapons from them before I enter ANY casino. Note: having them wait outside before you enter a casino will not work as they will STILL have their weapons confiscated (sometimes permanently).
