The story behind the survivalists rifle made me cry. That man suffered so much only to be kicked while he was just about to get up. Lost his wife in the initial blast, then lost a lover, and the child she was carrying later on.
Excellent as always, have fun with Old World Blues and Dead Money. Even though you're not covering everything, there is a mess of choices and doubled items.
I know! At worst it's comparable to such monsters as the all-american or this machine, and at best surpasses them! It's dps is some of the best for a semi-auto rifle, and aiming is easy when you learn the trick (aim with the right corner, not the center).
Butheadbros2 Epic with a Guns skill of 100 and the Grunt perk- Grunt brings base damage up to sixty. It's this gun and A Light Shining In Darkness which are the two weapons I always pick up when playing Honest Hearts.
I've only found the Survivalist's Rifle ONCE and never used it. I gave it to one of my companions because my character was specced into energy weapons. I'd already done Dead Money before this point so the holorifle and Compliance Regulator were all I needed. No need to hunt down 12.7 mm ammo (ignoring my followers) and juggle different types of primers, powders, and shell casings when you can just scrounge up various energy cells and convert the types you don't need into whatever you do need at a workbench. And if you have Veronica and/or ED-E with you, you always have a workbench handy. Add the Vigilant Recycler perk and you now 1) have twice the likelihood of recovering drained cells (was 35%, now 70%), and 2) need fewer drained cells to make a fresh one (was 4:1, now 3:1).
I ended up getting the survivalist rifle from Joshua when I started his ending. He just kind of gave it to me and I wasn’t interested in using it...that is until I used it. The gun is CRAZY GOOD!! I now use it with my main character. He’s a shotgun character but the Survivalists Rifle serves as a nice mid range secondary. Also yes, I’m that 2020 comment you’ve been looking for.
Is there going to be a Gun Runner's Arsenal version? All the weapons are as easy to obtain as you just buy them but knowing whether or not it's worth it and where the shop is could be useful.
The GRA items are a great way to offload the gold bars from Dead Money. Want an anti-materiel rifle with all its mods and a fat stack of ammo for next to nothing? Trade a couple gold bars for that shit! Two-Step Goodbye, Embrace of the Mantis King!, Sleepytyme, Esther, Paciencia, you name it. Plunk down some gold bars and you can cut the prices of these and other GRA weapons and their respective mods/ammo to nothing, even come out ahead. All 37 of those gold bars (you DID loot ALL the bars, did you?) will net you a total of 389,943 caps, more than all the in-game merchants have COMBINED. There aren't that many vendors who have enough caps to buy ONE bar off the player, and I mean in the whole game, DLCs and all.
The Compliance Regulator could be really useful in a lot of situations. Fighting Legate Lanius? Stun him with the CR then put everything you've got into him Trying to fight a deathclaw? Stun him, then spray him down with a minigun
Yeah, I noticed the total lack of all the .45 weapons myself...or, any real mention of what the White Legs like to use: the Anti-Material Rifle. Which, you think would be worth mentioning, maybe? Seeing how most likely they will be pointed right at you, more than once...? Roachbait
No, they aren't considered unique to the Honest Hearts DLC, you got that right, but, they are more common than they really should be. It does say "Weapon Guide" in the title, it should be a little tiny bit more inclusive, perhaps, huh? Maybe? Maybe something like that is worth mentioning in a guide about an area where they ARE so damn very common-place. Especially when you consider that around a third of the White Legs carry them around (or a quarter, whatever)-(one in three, to one in four), and also, when you consider how powerful they are at long-range, something like that would really be something one would take note of, and mention, even if they weren't paying all that much attention. It's kind of hard to mistake a .50 caliber rifle for anything else, especially if every third (or fourth) White Leg happens to have one...that statistic by itself makes the sheer NUMBERS of such weapons unique, and, a unique type of danger. The NCR doesn't even arm their guys and gals up like that...neither do the Legion (without the gals, of course)...and, I've been playing Fallout since it first started, I think I know what unique weapons are (or, are not) around in whichever game, or DLC. So, yeah...telling me that the AMR isn't unique to the Honest Hearts DLC is like telling me that I need air to breathe...Um, can you say "duuuh"? I wasn't born last nite, try going back another 45+ years, and then add a few more. You might want to try to be a little less patronizing, while you're back there, too. :)
+Roachbait FNV I know I'm a year late, but enemies scale with your level. The higher your character's level, the stronger your enemies will be in terms of endurance and armaments. Chances are your character have nearly reached the level cap and therefore, the white legs were better armed.
She's Embrace: I've used it for role-playing as a Sorrow. As part of a tribal genius build that I've honed for a while, it carries me through Old World Blues and Lonesome Road up until I find and craft the Fist of Rawr. SE does more damage than regular Yao Guai gauntlets, making it a good holdout weapon. Compliance Regulator: No matter what your play style, you absolutely MUST get this gun! Piss-poor damage? Fuck that! The stun effect is what matters most. It makes fighting Deathclaws, Tunnelers, Marked Men, and the Legendary Bloatfly from OWB much easier. Spam some shots til you land a crit, then switch over to another weapon and finish them off. If you have armor and aid items that buff your crit chance, even better. And best of all, NO ONE AND NOTHING IN THE ENTIRE GAME IS IMMUNE TO THE STUN EFFECT! Even Ulysses, Col. Royez, and Gaius Magnus will go down if you land a crit, and they're immune to knockdown otherwise. The fact that energy ammo is very easy to stay topped up on helps, even with a low Energy Weapons skill. Next best holdout gun to the missing laser pistol (a quest item and thus stays with you everywhere, including during Dead Money).
A light Shining in darkness is definitely my favorite weapon from the DLC, possibly in the whole game. I do like me a good shottie, though. At least in this game, since you can actually take advantage of how many different kinds of ammo there is for shotguns. Among the energy weapons, though, my favorite is the Unique from the Sierra Madre.
This is cool as fuck, you put alot of work into your guides. If and when you do get back to the Yogspack, you could do a Yogspack Weapon Guide, since many Yognau(gh)ts play it and it would be extremely useful to people who wanted to know if these weapons are going to be of any use to them. I think that saves people from finding weapons or crafting them and finding out they are useless, which is often the case in other Yogspack series'...i think your recommendation of certain weapons would go a long way. Great work Strife :)
I love your vids they have helped me conquer the wasteland on both versions of fallout. You have an amazing voice by the way. And you should do a lets play of fallout new vegas I loved your fallout 3 let's play I have watched the series 10 times it is amazing. Keep up the good work :)

I'd like to see a weapon guide on any of the Borderlands. Sure they're not as expansive or open as the Fallouts, but they still have amazing unique weaponry.
The survivalists rifle is the most useful rifle in the game! Got me through honest hearts and it makes deathclaws into mincemeat! So I use it as a primary weapon. Plus I can just buy 12.7 ammo, so it's not hard to get the ammo.

Huh, the Compliance Regulator, if look at a different angle and on what you said, can help dealing with Deathclaws, especially in Dead Wing Cavern where they're EXTREMELY close quarters to you. Sure they stun them, but while stunned you can unleash a rainstorm of Armor Piercing bullets at them before they can get up. That is, if it effects them at all. Did someone tried this out? If so, please reply.
Honestly, the pistol is the most worthwhile weapon you get out of this and combined with the 1St Recon Beret and Joshua Gram's armor, any gunslinger's gonna be crit city from there on out, plus if you have the "Handloader" perk, you can give A Light Shining in Darkness one hell'ev a damage boost. I know it’s weird but this dlc is probably my favorite of them all, which is even weirder since it’s generally considered the 2nd worst dlc in the game.

Randall's story is a pure definition of "everything went downhill". Just got out from army, just to see the world end.
Excellent as always, have fun with Old World Blues and Dead Money. Even though you're not covering everything, there is a mess of choices and doubled items.
Omg its Play-doh Generous
Survivalists Rifle is my favourite gun in the game. I love how old and broken it looks.
Plus the 12.7mm rounds pack a serious punch. And it's a pretty damn effective weapon once you learn how to use the iron sights.
LiAStudios
Agreed, I especially think it's one of the few ammo types ideal for fighting deathclaws if your not the "sniper" type
And the story behind it is awesome
On my level 50 character. That's my most useful gun (Survivalists Rifle)
Hey me too!
the survivalist rifle is probably the BEST gun in the entire game. rate of fire and accuracy coupled with dat damage makes it fucking amazing.
I know! At worst it's comparable to such monsters as the all-american or this machine, and at best surpasses them! It's dps is some of the best for a semi-auto rifle, and aiming is easy when you learn the trick (aim with the right corner, not the center).
Butheadbros2 It is a great weapon. Though it drives me crazy that is has to use 12.7 rounds. Those things are fucking rare as hell.
Butheadbros2 Epic with a Guns skill of 100 and the Grunt perk- Grunt brings base damage up to sixty. It's this gun and A Light Shining In Darkness which are the two weapons I always pick up when playing Honest Hearts.

Omg linkthe1st is back :33333

I have been waiting for this for over a year! Thanks for getting round to this Strife!
Is there going to be a Gun Runner's Arsenal version? All the weapons are as easy to obtain as you just buy them but knowing whether or not it's worth it and where the shop is could be useful.
Ask him.
Not really going to happen. This game has gone passed the point of being updated, at least by developers.
***** Then idk what he said.
***** Aha, I mistook what he said. Nevermind then lol

That video quality. Truly amazing.
It feels good to see the old Will back thank you Will :)
Hey strife i cannot believe your back!! Being a big fan of yours from the start brought back some old memories keep it up!
So good to see more Fallout content from you.
Seeing these videos sure brings back a lot of memories, makes me want to go play fallout again.
So excited for these to return! You're guides are easily my favorite videos of yours!
I subbed for the Fallout 3 playthrough so I'm pretty excited that you're doing more Fallout content
Good to see you making Fallout videos again Strife!

Awesome video, Will, super excited to see you back at Fallout!
Thank you for bringing these back. Loved your Fallout 3 LP.
I missed these beautiful guides, well done Will. :)
I love pairing the Survivalist's Rifle with the old ranger Armour in this DLC. love the message on the helmet
Really fucking good man I want more of these for all the special unique weapons you can obtain in the game
Why didn't you include the .45 sub? Whilst yes it is not a unique its more or less like the brush gun in which its really powerful for a common item.
Probably because they are thrown at you.......and you get plenty of experience with how strong they are,
Yeah, I noticed the total lack of all the .45 weapons myself...or, any real mention of what the White Legs like to use: the Anti-Material Rifle.

The mis-aligned iron sights on the Survivalist's Rifle are intentional. Also use the left sight post for your point of aim.

I would say the 45 auto is worth mentioning, if only because it's the highest damaging hold out weapon you can get a silencer on.

The light shinging in the dark is my favorite
Great video! I love your fallout series. Keep up the good work!
Randall Clark: The most badass man of the Mojave as well as the former owner of both the survivalist's rifle and the compliance regulator.
Love it. Happy to see more of these.
Finally! I just started a new character so this is good! Thank you!
I love how they manage to put a Beowulf 50 into fallout and made it one of the best guns in the game.
wow, i love Salt-Upon-Wounds' Power fist (Mr. Salt-Upon-Wounds' Power Fist) Because it applies a DOT Effect (Damage Over Time)
The survivalists rifle is the most useful rifle in the game! Got me through honest hearts and it makes deathclaws into mincemeat! So I use it as a primary weapon. Plus I can just buy 12.7 ammo, so it's not hard to get the ammo.
Will you also be covering the weapons available in the Gun Runners DLC?
My god I missed this, also is there a possibility of a FNV armor suite?
Wheres the regular 45 pistol, the 45 smg, and the war club?

I don't know why, but in the last mission for honest hearsts, I got the gun but having some NPC run up to my trying to hit my with a fire-axe, so I got 2 weapons ¨thanks for saving me the trouble, tribal¨
HE's BACK!
It may sound like a lot of work but it honestly isn't as getting all of the above "stars" to align is as simplistic, as leveling skills you were going to level anyway if you use firearms.
after all the years its there, time to play FONV again :3
Really, the best reasons to like (if not love...) the Survivalists Rifle, mostly it's the fact that the sights ARE bent (you get used to it...eventually...), and, it seems to have been modified (as much as possible...) with super-glue, and duct-tape (and, maybe some spit...), by the previous owner, it even has it's name carved into the stock, and nice textures (I suppose...)...so, it fits right in...the only real "drawback" would be the initial scarcity of 12.7mm ammo...and it's (comparatively...) high cost, per round...especially the Gun-Runners rounds (Hollow-Points, etc...), still, it's a solid medium range crowd-pleaser!
Even if you need to reload it a little more, it holds up nicely on the condition side, as far as I've seen...you know, for what it fires to begin with... :)

man i loved the series
and i still love it
brilliant vid
Why isn't Dead Money the first NVWG video?
Good point
It's the hardest one to loot fully because you need to be pretty maxed on your skills
Did you loot it fully
Actually, Dead Money is scaled downwards at a lower level, making it much easier.
Because fuck Dead Money
Plz make more fallout is the main reason i subscribed
The 45 SMG anyone?
I realize I’m late but it astounds me how awesome that gun is

Yeah, I use the Survivalists Rifle all the time. Will there be more dlc weapon guides?
why couldn't obsidian make a couple of upgrades to the surivialist rifle such as improved sights, extended magazine
does this mean that there will be a Fallout New Vegas walkthrough
I hope so. I hope that it won't be like Half- Life 3...
You saw Zion and Mojave, well, like someone who's definitely not from the Southwest. Good video, though.
I'm new to the channel, does he do any guides for Armor/Apparel? Can't leave Honest Hearts without some Desert Ranger combat armor!

I know it’s weird but this dlc is probably my favorite of them all, which is even weirder since it’s generally considered the 2nd worst dlc in the game.
