    Norwegians and Sweedish are maybe the only armies and nighbours in the world that can play or joke with each others like brothers in arms. Just like this.

    I think the video is hilarious. It is wonderful to see our two navies having fun with each other. Very few countries in the world are as close in language and culture as we Scandinavians. While yes it is true there may still be some resentment towards each other, it is time to get over that. We are, whether we admit it or not, the same people. Ha det bra!

    Look what I wrote above. I don't know too much about this, but what I have written is just general. If you know what I mean. And my point is not to underestimate the Norwegian navy, for the amount of money we spend it's rather good and narrowed down to specifications. But it's no point in exaggerating our navy either, especially not over what is considered to be the purpose of what we got;)

    Why do scuba divers always fall backwards out of boats?
    It's because if they fell forwards, they'd still be in the boat.

    • @samkom33
      @samkom33 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Naaah the most important reason they fall backwards is the mask cowering the eyes-face!
      by jumping feet first ore forwards it would fall off and or be filled with water.

    Norway's military vessels may be of smaller size, but size does not matter nowadays like in ww2 and before. Norway's ships are extremely technically advanced fast and equipped with state of the art weaponry that can give a heavy punch. Basically made to defend Norwegian waters. Also a think some are stealth as well, giving a huge advantage in defending from invasions as we would rule the sea and can ambush anything trying to attack.

      I'm definitely for a Nordic union except we somehow need to have Swedish politicians stay out of things and preferably revert Sweden to a previous state. We could also invite Estonia and if needed all the Baltic states + Poland + Ukraine and then we'd finally get a bunch of sane people against the retarded Swedish politicians and more of a safety in political outcome there ;D
      Also no need for EU or NATO.

    I get your point. Just trying to point out that our navy can bite hard against anyone who would dare try to invade. Naturally, if fighting an enemy such as USA or Russia, it would be problematic to win as we would be too outnumbered for any advantage we have to make any big difference. But that's why are are in NATO...

The only difference is probably our language, which we understand quite well, it's just like entering another city where they got a whole another dialect you just have to get used to, and when you get used to the language, theres nothing to stop! Scandinavia imo should be a whole country itself. Love from norway!

    Neighbourly fun between two good friends (brothers). On a more serious note: Sweden really wimped out in WW2. They not only refused to fight. But they let the Germans pass through their country to attack Norway from several positions. That was not brotherly. Norwegians fought four their lives in WW2 and gave the Germans a good fight. Danes too chickened out and refused to fight for their country. I'm surprised this is forgotten... Wimps.

    • @matsandersson4846
      @matsandersson4846 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Maybe you should take a few history lessons before you start spouting untruths. Norway only fought because they were attacked and their country was defensible due to its mountainous terrain. Sweden was not attacked and Denmark is too flat to defend against a superior enemy. On the morning of the 9th of April 1940, the German invasion fleet was already in the Oslofjord. Not a single German soldier crossed Swedish territory during that invasion.

      You clearly don´t know history, Sweden forced Norway in to a Union in 1814 and the Union dissolved in 1905 in peaceful negotiations, everyone know that Norway would not be able to win a war against Sweden in 1905. This is why the Nobel peace prize is handed out in Norway instead of Sweden because of the peaceful outcome.

    • @Khunark
      @Khunark 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Germany wanted to send troops through sweden during the invasion, but sweden refused. Neither weapons nor ammo crossed into norway before the surrender. After the surrender germany asked again, and sweden allowed these transfers. During the invasion, only food, medicine and civilian personnel were transported through sweden. There was one exception, where something like 10 soldiers posing as medics were transferred. They were unarmed. You should thank the germans and the swedes. They went to the trouble of sending military supplies and reinforcements through finland instead. Imagine that detour. The finnish gladly accepted german help since they were under attack by the soviet union at the time. Swedes also provided volounteer support to finland. Sweden was neutral during the war, and could not do much else without risking getting dragged into the war, and without sweden there would have been no safe haven for refugees. We are paying for that now. Thanks to the germans, you do not have nearly the same problems.

      Large navis aren't a necessity for a country to function and have a high standard of living. For nordic, and quite frankly most european countries, NATO negates the need for large militaries due to the fact pretty much all aggression towards the alliance is deterred.
      For Norway and Sweden, a small navy is all that is required for border security, anything much larger would be a bit of a waste of resources.

It indicated that when disposable income was adjusted for cost of living, Scandinavians were the poorest people in Western Europe. Danes had the lowest adjusted income, Norwegians the second lowest, Swedes the third. Spain and Portugal, with two of Europe's least regulated economies, led the list." You need to understand that while per capita earnings are high in Norway, so are taxes and living costs.

    Yes, but there is still no country mentioned. Vikings are vikings as Marcus says, you still don't know specificly where they came from. There is a west coastline in sweden aswell. I am sure that there were som danish and swedish vikings with the norwegian vikings when they were in the United Kingdom for an example.

    @borgunvaag The quality issues with the nansen class has been sorted out for a long time ago, and the facts behund the issue is the spanions didnt make the hull strong enough for artic conditions. So the ships had to be strenghten, and thats sorted out. At first they made some problems regarding this, but as i said, the problem is resolved. Its a shame though, that we didnt choose the norwegian built alternative, like before. But the navy wanted AEGIS, and it was cheaper than a norwegian alt.

    @Gillefull Actually Denmark was the first to do that. Norway, come from the trading rute along the western coastline of Norway, meaning the north way. At the end of the 800 century Harald Hårfagre started to consolidate the lands in western norway, or the north way. Several hundred years later, the land we today call Norway was consolidated.

    @Arnebananlolo Im talking about all the wars Sweden had against Denmark-Norway when Sweden invaded Norway, Norway never took the risk to face the Swedish army on an open battlefield and instead focused on guerilla warfare against the Swedish supply lines. Denmark however made the mistake to put up their armies against the Swedish ones many times.

    @objectivepac Also, the King in Norway was not scared of the nobility as Kings could be in other countries, since in Norway the nobility did not have large fortresses with a big army. In Norway the only military they had was controlled by the king and was called: The laidangen. Which was basically farmers around Norway which have to (in war times) go out of their houses, get some weapons and fight for the king. When the black plague came and killed around the 50% or the norwegian population

    And btw, if you ever think to visit Latin America once, you are more than welcome here in Guatemala. Many Norwegian and Swedish folks visit Antigua Guatemala and Panajachel, and stay here for a good time to learn spanish and party, they both are safe places and we are very warm people. Thanks buddy, you are a cool person. I thought Europeans were cold, but certainly not the nordics. :D

    @anttonoo Best army? That depends on a lot of factors, most importantly terrain. For example swedish soldiers will have most their training in urban and woodland terrains. In a mountaineous region they wouldn't stand a chance against Norwegian forces. Sweden relies more on armor and armor is less than useless in mountains and very dense forests. In pure numbers on tanks, choppers etc Sweden is way ahead. But no two armies can be compared so easily as both will be best on their home turf.

    @mx6dk Fail. Norway was Swedish for 91 years. Norway was Danish for 278 years. Before that Norway was in the Kalmarunion. Before this Norway was a country for a few hundred years before entering the Kalmarunion. But you are right in saying Norway has not been in a modern country for more then 105 years. Anyway Norway has done some fighting during 105 years. Check out WW2, and their military activities in NATO.While in union with Denmark, Norway also fought but under Danish leadership.

    Also I can share with you a cool story I came over, told by a direct witness. In a war training simulation a Norwegian ship managed to sneak up on the Americans gaining a direct shot to the reactor of a CV. Had it been a real war it would be bye, bye American carrier and bye, bye American air superiority in the area. So don't underestimate Norwegian armed forces, they are based on quality and not quantity!

    @richter75 I apologise, I had ignored the ammunition aspect. Also may I ask, how on Earth is per capita important in this field? I have noticed many people from smaller nations use 'per capita' as their lower populations drive the value up. Largest arms exporter by capita is a meaningless title. Just like military spending per capita. Per capita is HEAVILY skewed by population. My point is just... "per capita Norway is the worlds largest arms exporter." is meaningless.

  • @stianh3
    @stianh3 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm not saying it would be a needed addition to the already existing export... but it sure would have been an nice addition...

    Rune stones aren't some sort of currency for Viking identity. You must be mad if you are actually trying to argue that Norway has no viking heritage. The very icon of Viking culture is the viking ship, and that field stood very strong in the Norwegian and Danish cultures and is probably the number one reason why Vikings are known today.

    And no, norwegians soldiers did not fight in the main battles, they fought the swedes in Norway, and some rides in to Västra Götland, the purpose was to take some of the pressure upon the danish army away, by distracting the swedes. However, all the famous sea battles was fought by mainly norwegians. You could say it this way, the army consisted moast of danes, the navy of norwegians. However, norwegian soldiers were gathered to defend norway, and make rides to distract the swedes, as told.

    I know that ;) You know that during a time, norway, england and south sweden belonged to denmark. I am just saying that it is hard to say that just norwegian vikings were in the uk.
    According to swedish rune, 32 tells about trips in the east and 26 tells about trips in the west..
    And it were different geographically..

    @Dudeliduu Incorrect, your per capita earning BEFORE tax and costs is higher than ours. Your disposable income is actually lower (money left once tax and costs are taken from salary). Richer no, demonstrably not. Higher quality of life yes and better health yes but certainly not richer (perhaps look for countries by disposable income or a KPMG study about this information, message me if you want links). I notice many Norwegians talk about per capita income as if it's actual earnings.

    @mrgeorgeallison I question the kpmg research. How did they measure? It’s in the end all about method. A study can give whatever results you want depending on factors. How correctly did the freelancer in NYT interpret this report? Houses in Oslo are very cheap compared to houses in London, but goods like beer is very expensive over here. People consume different baskets of goods in different countries.

    @mrgeorgeallison I think we are talking about personal disposable income. Lets say you have 80000$ in disposable income in the US. You have to spend a huge amount of this money on health insurance unlike in Norway where the government pays the insurance “thanks” to the high tax cap. So 80000$ here is not the same as 80000$ there that’s why it would be interesting to see how much the average Norwegian gets of different goods like those I mentioned in a earlier post or is that what dis inc shows?
