This sim is honestly amazing after v1.6! Reiza deserve a ton of credit for the work they’ve done with the Madness Engine.
They replaced the physics to make the multiplayer racing awesome.
There are still a lot of smaller issues which add up to lot of annoyance, some of which may never be fixed, but it's getting there.
AMS2 is such a great single player racer to prep yourself to take the plunge into online racing and leagues. It’s great in VR too!
And that’s where things go wrong. People get used to racing with ai and then expect the same experience online 😂
@@Picks_Productions
For me unfortunately the netcode, even after all of the work they did for v1.6 I find it very subpar. So many of the cars do this kind of weird yaw into corners in online racing that looks really unnatural that I can't unsee and I'm still seeing more warping than I see in other sims. It's such a shame that the dedicated server still doesn't work like a traditional dedicated server in that it still relies somewhat on how good the connection of the first joiner has to the dedicated server. Was hoping for a ground-up rewrite of the dedicated server but I'm losing hope.
@@racingsimaddicts7563 lmu has by far the best net code and contact model ive experienced with maybe race room as a close tie, being able to bang doors with some one and them not go flying is so refreshing and allows for close racing with confidence
Im so glad to see the servers full, this game is so fun.
@@ordnice-uo9yn I’m agree. Massive fun
My fingers are crossed for endurance racing with proper driver swaps. I suspect that will take replacing the entire ME network code.
Thank you for posting this! I was searching everywhere!
AMS 2 saves me $100+ every year for iRacing. I never really liked online racing anyway. I do like flying into Burke Lakefront airport - there is an old WWII submarine that can be toured, and it’s an easy walk to the Rock & Roll museum. It can be breezy, though, and ATC isn’t shy about vectoring me way out over the lake.
I love this sim. Feels awesome to drive in
Wohoooooo ! Thanks for sharing this Info 👍
Hey Mike, AMS2 is coming on leaps and bounds no doubt, but I had to rant recently on the forum. Got black flagged on the last lap, although I pitted for the mandatory pitstop. I raised this point two years ago, and it’s such a fundamental flaw/bug that still hasn’t been addressed, when racing the AI, and it completely destroys the whole race. I hope the devs address this, because this sim really is awesome, but the fundamentals and basics have to be addressed too, especially gamebreaking bugs like this.
If there's a minimum tire change and you don't change any tire you will be disqualified. Always check in the lobby before the session.
Put in the settings for min tire change just 1 tire and it doesn't disqualify you anymore. I know its a weird bug but im pretty sure this fixed my issue on my end. Hope this helps.
That is great. I constantly ran into this same issue.
Oh Shoot! Bummer about ending. LOL! The flowers look good in the field. Haha
@@miker0n327 yeah, at least we got to appreciate the lovely flora!
It took them long enough. I haven’t raced in this because of the triple screen bug. Hallelujah.
I had the same issue but I edited the config file manually.
These are good News 🤩 will try it out Tomorrow 🎉 do I only have to Type my values in? Or is there something else to do?
@@NRG1991 nope! Just type the values
I'm rich, and I own triples of the Barracuda, Road Runner, and Nova. Triples makes it safe. Triples is best.
I know you said the side screens are not stretched anymore and I see that in race but they are still stretched during replays which I cannot stand. Any reason why this hasn't been fixed yet also? Or am I doing something wrong on my end. #simracing604
@@GenXSimracer no, that’s a Reiza issue. Loading screens are probably the same
I’m more shocked you didn’t get a penalty or DQ during the rolling start lol.
@@lukebraddford3287 lol, good point! I was a bit too ambitious…

And I now cannot find where I wrote my settings... Time to re-measure and get the screen angles again.
Speaking of angles, a school protractor isn't cutting it. I am ordering a miter saw protractor. If it can accurately measure complicated miter cuts, it can accurately measure my screen angles.
Edit. A Mitersaw protractor would work but that gives me 1/2 the actual angle. A digital protractor would be better for measuring screen angles, or dialing them in. Sorry.
Still crashing ( as of today 22/12/2024 )when modding a skin, this occurs when saving skin in the paint program and returning to AMS2 I have sent countless bug reports but problem remains
Sorry,, does this mean 1.6 version does not support the skin mod anymore 🥺🥺
By the thumbnail I though you were referring to F1 🤔
I'm not sure how anyone can play any racing sim without being locked to the horizon.....All that background scenery bounce is giving me a headache even when watching on a small screen.
@@hobbs7794 for me it’s fine
@@SimRacing604 I assumed, but irl everything in the background is stationary. :-)
@hobbs7794 - The camera movement settings will sort that out for you. Maybe Mike can do a video on how to configure a sweet-spot depending on your preference. FYI: The scenery will "bounce" the most when legacy movement with a value of zero is picked. This locks the camera to the car so the car appears still and the scenery does all the moving. It takes a bit of playing with to find what you like. Try using extreme settings 0 and 100 for each camera movement setting one at a time to see what each does, then begin tuning to taste.
Hey, what are peoples "go to" cars in AMS 2 ? Which cars "jus feel right".
I havent been able to put much time into it to find out. Or maybe im picking the wrong cars and getting fustrated and quiting....
Formula Trainer and Formula Trainer Advanced are very satisfying. As are the Caterhams and M2000.
Try using the most recent rFuktor custom FFB (you will need to select one based on your available wheel torque) - tune it how you want. However, remember the sliders in Force Feedback screens do not do what their labels say. What they do is documented in the custom profile file. There are more advanced custom FFB profiles but the rFuktor ones may be all you ever need. Remember to restart AMS2 after dropping the new profile in place and switching to "Custom" on FFB setup screen. Finally, I use 100% force feedback and tune it down in the sims. This is dangerous unless you know what you are doing and taking precautions, but it does mean I can squeeze every last piece of detail from the FFB without doing the stupid "influencer does 100% ffb" thing by separating slow and fast bump effects. It makes it possible for me to use 3 to 6Nm for steering and other large wheel movement effects, but then use 25Nm for rapid effects like road rumble and kurbing.

Still not getting my tripples to look correctly like LMU. So annoying having to go back to menu to change.
@@Racingfan101 yeah, it can be a very annoying process
I have a buddy that has issues with triples on AMS2 because he has 4 monitors, and AMS2 doesn't know how to handle it. He thinks that because the 4th monitor is a different resolution than his triples that maybe the cause. He's gonna try running it from his on board graphics and the triples from the GPU to see if that fixes it. We shall see.
I've read in the Reiza forums that a workaround is to start AMS2 with the 4th monitor turned off / disconnected, and then turn on the 4th monitor once you're in the menus.
@RoarMcRipHelmet I'll let him know. Thanks for the info.
Oh I'll have to test that too, I posted about this ages ago and got no response on it
Pretty much none of the sims can handle four monitors as a group out of the box. However, you DO NOT need to unplug the forth monitor and then start the game - there is a better way.
Instead, use the work around of setting the three monitors you use for triples to a single large screen using spanning in the nVidia or AMD control panels. You can still use triple settings in all sims on the one huge virtual monitor. No, performance is not lost. I have triples like this and three other screens (telemetry, OBS, touch panel vehicle dashboard) for driving and flight sims. No special work required after setup.
sorry but bug remains
Did you go back to the 1.5 branch? Some people have done because of equipment issues. Some have done it by accident because they do not have the release branch selected in "BETA's" properties on Steam. It is worth taking a look.
Useless
