It's sad when a bigger company buys up smaller companies that make golden age commercials. A year ago, the commercials were for "Medicine" since the Pharmaceutical companies had a influx of income all of a sudden, so they decided they wanted to keep it going so they would make more commercials, and they could afford it while smaller companies had to go smaller routes, maybe local paper/penny saver.
I looked this up because I randomly had this jingle stuck in my head again after almost 30 years. I don't remember the 1980 and 1981 commercials but definitely the 1985-1993 ones. "Stick it to 'em, with Stick Ups".
For some strange reason when I was a kid back in the 80’s I was obsessed with these. I always had one on my bed, usually the dark blue heavy duty scent (don’t know why I was really drawn to that one despite it not smelling the best) or the light blue powder puff scent when my mom would grab the wrong one/got sick of smelling the heavy duty scent in my bedroom. When they redesigned them in the 90’s I also lost interest in them. I would on occasion buy them for grins until I couldn’t find them anymore a few years ago, I assume discontinued. Seeing these commercials again brought back some strong nostalgia for me.
*I must be on dope* but I remember a Stick Up ad where an arm comes out of the tank of the toilet and you hear a Dracula-like voice say: "This is a good place for a stick up!" Anyone remember? LOL! Maybe we should really take a closer look at what goes into Kool-Aid and sugary cereal... I'm sure I was doped as a child of the 70s.
Nah, you're not on dope, ha ha! I know the exact one you speak of: a woman applies a Stick-Up when she enters a car with a man smoking a cigar; then the same man in the closet behind the hangers from this set; the arm coming out of the toilet with the Dracula voice that you remember; a woman crying over onions in her kitchen; a cat pointing to a basket meowing about the Stick-Up; and a man in jail saying it was a good place for a Stick-Up (I see what they did there). I only remember the commercial set it came from was 1978 but I never saved the link! 😭 If I come across it again I'll let you know...
I dunno about the rest of you but the commercials starting at 1:03 were pure nightmare fuel to me, right alongside Neosporin commercials with the slowly turning bloodied finger!
Big fish lurk in small spaces; big shoes linger in small places. Big cigars lurk in small places; big toilets linger in small places. Big cats and big litter boxes linger in small places; big fish linger in small spaces. Big fish lurk in small spaces; big toilets linger in small places. Then using your logic, such old rear-end ladies like the smell of toilets portrayed and depicted in those commercials since such toilets smell like that 4-letter s word you said they use for their houses. :p
It's amazing the jingles that randomly pop into your head after so many years--and as always, TH-cam delivers 🤣
And then-- it won’t leave!

These commercials use to have me in tears from laughing! 🤣🤣

I hated those things! They smell like roses. A lot of old ass ladies use that shit for their houses lol
