I remember this commercial clearly from Christmas of 1993 thanks to it being inadvertently recorded on VHS by my family that year during the commercial breaks of Christmas specials we recorded. In a way, its the definitive image of the SNES burned into my memory.
The irony is that they've set a giant Snes in this commercial, then years later they would shrink it down for their classic edition line up. Did you get the joke?
Nintendo was doing this because Sega had become a SERIOUS competitor for them. A lot of people were buying or interested in buying the Sega Genesis so they had to come up with a way for more people to want to buy the Super Nintendo.
jaja buen video haces uno retroceder a nuestro pasado me acuerdo cuando tenia ese cartucho, pero ese no incluia el mario world solo eran los marios bros!!! y lo cambie x el de shaq-fu q psss jeje!!!
Well, i honestly i never had the SNES, but all those Super marios games that were mentiones before i already have tem on GBA and i can be proud to say that i have the Gamecube with game boy player and i'm playing all SMB games from super mario land to Super mario advance saga including Super Mario bros original 1985 version fron the NES Classics.
Talk about the best starting game bundle for a video game console. Five individual games (Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 2 (JPN) [The Lost Levels], Super Mario Bros 2 [USA], Super Mario Bros 3, and Super Mario World), to start you off with the Super Nintendo. You can really tell SEGA was giving Nintendo a run for their money by bundling Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 with their Genesis consoles.
There are two versions of Super Mario World. The original Super Mario World that was released alongside the original launch of the Super Nintendo in 1991, before the release of Super Mario All-Stars, and a special later "Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World", cartridge released in 1994. This commercial is from Christmas of 1993, when Super Mario World and Super Mario All-Stars were still separate game cartridges and the SMAS + SMW edition didn't exist yet..
I have an original Super Nintendo Entertainment System. The problem is, I can't get the original controller to work. I press the start button to play Super Mario World, and nothing happens. The internet promises this one brand of controller to be compatible with the original system, it's made by Veanic. I was wondering if anyone knows if this controller brand is trustworthy (functional)?
Thanks for the tip. I've since taken care of the situation. At the time, I opened up the controller and it had missing parts. I got refunded for it, then used the refund money to purchase another used controller, and that has since functioned well.
Whats with all the random family's walking past that like some normal display. could you imagine walking past that and not give a weird look or going wtf?

Since Mario 3d all stars is out, there will be a chance that might add Super Mario Galaxy 2 and including Super Mario Odyssey in it
Can’t wait to play the new Super Mario World on it!
From a distance, the old video quality makes the dude look a little like Linkara.
