    My problem with the samples is it doesn't sound like a real drummer playing. That isn't how drums sound when a human is hitting them. Even with different veloocities.

      When I do it, I try to keep as much as the real drums as possible and blend the samples in. Also, use samples that aren't overproduced. Most records now use samples. Especially in metal.

      @@austindayaudio yeah, I noticed that. It just doesn't sound right to me. Sure, the drums cut through and you can hear everything clearly but I like a more realistic sound. I don't have a trouble with mixing drums without samples. Even back in the 80s death metal drmmers were triggering bassdrums and snare. Now it seems the whole kit is triggered. When I play, I just won't play fast enough to where you can't hear the hits in the mix.
