- Hey everyone in todays video we are going to look at a technique that you can use to cut down on your spruing and treeing time if you are using 3D printed models for casting.
We've found this technique is perfect for items that we need dozens of every month as we can make the tree once in Shapr3D, support it once in Prusa Slicer, then just keep printing it over and over.
We are now partnering with Pepetools for our stone setting practice rings, you can ring those here:pepetools.com/...

Please please PLEASE do more of these Shapr tutorials! There are far too few good videos on TH-cam specifically aimed at 3D jewelry design. You're an awesome teacher and you would make some really useful videos for the community!
Thanks! I have been trying to print a tree for a month and have had failure after failure. I have thought I wasn't supporting it enough, but after watching I now think my printer settings must be wrong. I appreciate the help. I have learned a lot from y'all so far.
Glad we can help!
To get this technique right its all about spru angle, model type, printer settings, and knowing your resin.
thanks for this nice video! As always very educational. I look forward to the next one.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is awesome! What kind of resin/filament are you using to cast? I don't want to waste time using the wrong filament. Thank you!
So we don't use filament do the the amount of detail lose for jewellery casting. We use a variety of resins and have created a ranked list, as different people may prefer a different resin due to types of models or budget. clearmindcasting.com/pages/resin-ranked-list
In this video we are using Apply Lab Work Cyan, but brands like bluecoats, power resin, etc also have good options.

Thank you 🙏 question, wouldn’t you’d rather array in rhino?
I am preferring Shapr3d to Fusion 360 for current projects, and will be printing a castable project on a Phrozen Mega 8k. Then casting in pewter, it is a large ‘dragon’ piece that won’t fit a flask.
Do you have suggestions for making a custom-sized investment box or ‘flask’?
Can you send me STL of the full tree I could cast it and update the results.
