  • VPX keeps upping the realism of visual pinball. The gap between real and virtual continues to inch closer. Version 10.8 and the new window POV rendering engine is a major step forward to realism for cabinet play.

      VPX 10.8 beta only. Click "Q" while in game, then arrow down to "Adjust Camera". That's the POV menu. Edit and click "Start" button to save changes before exiting menu.

    That looks really good. I'd love to see PinBuilder on a setup like that! I develop the VR part of the game with a Quest 3 and it's phenomenal! Just released VR in today's update.

    Hey have you done anything with bam headtracking? I know its an option with vpx 10.8.

      Not yet. Hope to try it if it gets integrated with the 3D rendering engine. Currently they are mutually exclusive. We will see. Hoping so.

      @@eighties8 what do you mean by "mutually exclusive"? It's about the anaglyph rendering? I have bought the kinect but not yet set it up

      @@MrCrrispyBy that I mean that headtracking is not yet workable with 3D stereo enabled. Niwak is working on that feature but its not yet been deployed and I'm not certain if or when it will be ready. Fingers crossed of course as its the holy grail only short of VR. It would be like poor man's AR by comparison. Very much looking forward to that.

      For PC, start the game, press your LMagnaSave button (set it in preference > configuration if you do not have one), press it a few times than a green lettered message would appear "ContrastSetting, Day = High, Contrast Low". It is a more natural brightness setting than Filmic.
      I was able to do the same procedure with Judge Dredd (Bally 1993) VPW from VpinWorkShop.

    Screen flush mount to glass?

    • @eighties8
      @eighties8  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey Mark, the PF screen is only about a half inch below the glass at the lockdown bar and just about .75" below at the back. So its near parallel to the glass all the way front to back. The only reason it drops slightly is to allow for the RGB matrix I've yet to install. The cab is designed so that I can shim it at the back to make it flush but I'm happy with it as is.
      But I've seen great results from screens that are flat all the way front to back even with a matrix that basically points straight up. The forward pitch of the cab is enough to accomodate a flat display all the way across.

      @@markg9533 No head tracking yet. Just using VPX 10.8 and updated POV using the new "Window" mode.

      so this can be enhanced further in VPX with xbox Kinect 2 hardware tracking, right? @@eighties8 it looks awesome, great job on your cabinet

      @@eighties8 I've read that the head tracking looks great on camera, not so great in person. I have a Kinect, but still haven't tried it myself. I have tried anaglyph glasses and it works pretty well. Especially B&W mods of tables, and Future Pinball's Halloween. But after a while it can give people a headache.
