    Now you can ditch the silver Sharpies and use a 1 or 2 mm Chrome Molotow marker. With the 1 mm marker you can get much neater edge. For the taillights, first use the chrome Molotow marker, wait a couple of days, then follow up with the red sharpie.

    My "method" for the back lights is to use silver paint first, let it dry and then paint over it with the red sharpie, it makes them look kind of shiny.

    Been watching for a bit now. Love what you are doing here. You are like the Bob Ross of hot wheel restos. I would like to say that I have really grown fond of your voice and don't love the musical additions because of it. I really could just listen to you repeat instructions. I think the beauty of your "show" is it's simplicity. Anyway, please keep it up. As someone who didn't come here from the resto/mod/model community and who isn't a collector, I find your content and the way you present it to be very interesting. I keep turning people to your channel as well. Thank you for the work and effort you put in. It shows.

    Great video! Thanks for sharing. Question, after all details are made with nothing but sharpies, have you ever sprayed clear coat on it? I heard a couple of dudes sprayed clear coat and the sharpies color smeared. Does this or has this happened to you?

    • @baremetalHW
      @baremetalHW  8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      +Rivera E Not yet.. I have sprayed Testers clear coat over tons of sharpie with no bad effects... This makes sense though... most clear coats you buy have acetone in the mix in some small amount. If you spay the car with any paint or solvent that has Acetone it will cause it to run or smear.. Testers clear coat has not Acetone in it... thus no smearing... in my last video (army car) I use a sharpie and then clear coat over it... you can see in that video that there was not smearing.. Thanks for watching!

    You should try a sharpie pen. They make like felt tip sharpies that have a super fine point but the same felt type tip, just a little more flexible cause its so thin. That would be great for this work I think, cause the sharpie is so big it can't reach inside the tight ares of the car sometimes.

    love watching your vids, only recently found and subd. I wanted to toss somethin at you. Its been my experience finding sharpies are a detailers best friend. I've found that the silver lays a better base coat for the taillights aiding in a luminescent finish. And tho I did say sharpies are great, for the taillights red I use INC. Megatank. Very deep transparent red. Turn signals front n back I use sharpie orange. For grills, trim and other details which are black even some rims I use sharpie ultra fine point pens. carefully n gently I use a nail file to remove part of the plastic coating around the outside of the point to allow more flow for better coverage. Now mistake removal, I use alcohol towlets you find at any drug store. Ideal cause they don't damage existing paint. Walfart has a really good chrome paint pen. Decocolor premium. So far best I've found. I'm always searching for better products do to the realism I expect from my customs. Give them a try and let me know what you think.

    To bad we can't show pictures on here. I'd love to show you some of my customs and how the detailing looks on them. I love this hobby. I love doing customs most of all. I'm thinking about starting a TH-cam page on how i do my customs. There are so many already tho. I have alot of easy tricks to detailing.

    I'm still thinking that 1/24th die cast metal Mattel's Hot Wheels toy cars, are still simply the best. Especially when you want 1/24th, die cast metal human and animal figurines included.

    Is this the method! So instead of making it easier by using fine point Oily sharpies you use acetone!? I wouldnt do that

    My advice start of with easy ones like nissan 370z , acura nsx , any nissan skyline
    Etc. you should start with cars that has exposed headlights and tail lights i would most likley advice you to start with a
    Nissan 370z
    Cause i use a silver sharpie on both headlights and taillights
    Then i used red sharpie on the back
