I've enjoyed other versions, but no one sings this song like Mark Lowry. Such passion in telling the story, and when they hit those 2 high notes, the piano playing... it's chilling! I shouldn't need a song to tell me who He is, but this song captures His essence. You can almost see Mary holding our Savior! Such a testimony and ministry. Thank you, Mark!

Most early christian songs that we sing as Christmas carols today, were not meant just be performed at Christmas time. This message, of God's Love...that of his birth should be shared all year. It is not uncommon for me to listen to this type of music all year. Even in the heat of summer...actually because of the heat of summer, I find music like this to be such a blessing.

I grew up knowing Mark Lowry's name as a Christian comedian. I knew he was involved with the Gaither Vocal Band, and had done some writing, but somewhere along the way I forgot that he wrote "Mary, Did You Know?" It wasn't until I started an Advent Bible reading plan going through the songs of Christmas that I discovered this was his song. It's always been one of my favorites.
I cry every time I hear this. GOD has blessed Mark Lowry with many talents. I am so thankful that he put these words into music. This song touches my heart and reminds me how lucky I am that I am saved and that GOD does love me.

Of all the renditions I have heard of your song, Mary did you know, I love yours the best. You sing with so much feeling and deep emotions. Everyone else either sings it to fast or doesn't put any emphasis on the areas that need it to make someone FEEL the importance of the gift God has given us through his Son. The importance of him being our Lord and Savior and that MARY KNEW she was bringing us the Lord and Savior of mankind. The feelings and emotions of knowing that had to be a tremendous emotional experience to Mary. And you put that emotional feeling into the song when you sing it. Can you believe as long as I’ve loved this song, just today did I learn that Mark Lawry wrote it, and the first time listening to him sing it. It is not uncommon for me to listen to this type of music all year. Even in the heat of summer...actually because of the heat of summer, I find music like this to be such a blessing.

I don’t consider myself religious but I am a music lover. I first heard this song (Clay Akin version) about 12 years ago on the radio while I was driving. I was…overwhelmed by the beauty of this song. It brings tears to my eyes and joy to my heart every time I hear it 💕
I grew up knowing Mark Lowry's name as a Christian comedian. I knew he was involved with the Gaither Vocal Band, and had done some writing, but somewhere along the way I forgot that he wrote "Mary, Did You Know?"
It wasn't until I started an Advent Bible reading plan going through the songs of Christmas that I discovered this was his song.
It's always been one of my favorites.
I cry every time I hear this. GOD has blessed Mark Lowry with many talents. I am so thankful that he put these words into music. This song touches my heart and reminds me how lucky I am that I am saved and that GOD does love me.

Everyone else either sings it to fast or doesn't put any emphasis on the areas that need it to make someone FEEL the importance of the gift God has given us through his Son. The importance of him being our Lord and Savior and that MARY KNEW she was bringing us the Lord and Savior of mankind. The feelings and emotions of knowing that had to be a tremendous emotional experience to Mary. And you put that emotional feeling into the song when you sing it. I just Love all the comments - thank you - it restores my faith in people. When I hear this song I basically collapse inside from the overwhelming feeling that Christ died for me, and you... sinners. And the baby Mary held, knowing all that would happen, said 'yes' to God from the very beginning. It's amazing how a man (Mark) can write and sing a song that captures what life is really about. Can you believe as long as I’ve loved this song, just today did I learn that Mark Lawry wrote it, and the first time listening to him sing it. Obviously the Holy Spirit touched Mark’s heart to write it, because I couldn’t get through it without crying, not tears of joy and not tears of sadness, but tears the Spirit brings to your heart that fills it, if you’re saved you know exactly what I am talking about. I agree with you 100%. I'm reading one of his books right now--"Live Long and Die Laughing". I can't help but laugh out loud while reading some of his quips and snippets in it. I had it with me at the DR office last week and I declare, the folks thought I had lost my marbles because I was chuckling quietly. Oh, how I wanted to share out loud with them. God has truly given Mark many, many special gifts. And, it is great he uses them to honor God and spread the gospel.

I asked God in a prayer to give me this gift and he did. I felt it when I hear Mark sing. What a blessing to have.
