I've enjoyed other versions, but no one sings this song like Mark Lowry. Such passion in telling the story, and when they hit those 2 high notes, the piano playing... it's chilling! I shouldn't need a song to tell me who He is, but this song captures His essence. You can almost see Mary holding our Savior! Such a testimony and ministry. Thank you, Mark!

There are a lot of versions of this song out there, but this is by far the most touching version! Only the writer can convey exactly what inspired him to write such an awesome song! Thank you Mark Lowery for allowing God to use your hands and voice to deliver this to us! My heart is forever grateful!
This is the best version because Mark Lowry wrote the song and Buddy Greene wrote the music. This is my second favorite Christmas song. My favorite is Oh Holy Night.

I read a story one time where a professional performer sung or spoke a passage of scripture. The audience gave him a standing ovation and cheers galor because his performance was so amazing. Then he went backstage and a little old gentleman that was a stage hand or custodian walked out onto the stage and spoke or sung the same passage of scripture. When he finished, there wasn't a dry eye in the audience. The older gentleman walked backstage and the professional performer met him and said "sir, you got the greatest form of applause any performer could ever receive. You moved the people into silent tears. How did you do that???" The old gentleman said "you know all the words, but I know the one who wrote them.". And I feel like there are many that perform this song "because they know words" and perform them well, but Mark knows who the one wrote the song.
By far this my favorite version of "Mary Did You Know". Mark Lowry sings it with such meaning that it brings chills down my spine just thinking that the Baby Jesus is Almighty God.

Mark owns this. He sings this version with a sweetness and tenderness like no one else. Each phrase is blanketed with love and praise. The Spirit of God takes over and sings thru him. He feels it, he understands it, he loves Mary's baby boy and it sure does come through.

Most early christian songs that we sing as Christmas carols today, were not meant just be performed at Christmas time. This message, of God's Love...that of his birth should be shared all year. It is not uncommon for me to listen to this type of music all year. Even in the heat of summer...actually because of the heat of summer, I find music like this to be such a blessing.

I don’t believe she knew all at the time of his birth. It was a progressive revelation over the years. It would have been unbearable as a mother if she knew the end from the beginning. God in his wisdom protected her as I know he protects us.

I grew up knowing Mark Lowry's name as a Christian comedian. I knew he was involved with the Gaither Vocal Band, and had done some writing, but somewhere along the way I forgot that he wrote "Mary, Did You Know?"
It wasn't until I started an Advent Bible reading plan going through the songs of Christmas that I discovered this was his song.
It's always been one of my favorites.

Mark wrote a truly beautiful song, and he sings it with such conviction. No one could ever do this song the way he does. I don't think anyone would even try. Every artist I have heard cover this song, do them. That is how it should be. The song should mean something to you or why choose it to sing. I haven't heard anyone cover it that has done a bad job of it, but my favorite covers are Kathy Mattea, Kenny Rogers with Wynonna Judd, Jordan Smith, Pentatonix, and Home Free

Anthony was so gifted. I remember the first time I heard him at my church when he started out with the Kingsmen. He left this old world behind as he passed on while doing what he was chosen to do for God's glory. He had one last concert...on a Gaither's Cruise! Now, he plays for the Heavenly choir!
Definitely! No one played the piano like Anthony Burger! He and Mark were close, close friends. I remember Mark saying, " One second Anthony was playing for Bill Gaither, and the next second he was playing for Jesus. Can you imagine Anthony's surprise!" . And it's true!
What is the instrument at the very end? What an amazing ending! What is it and who is the musician?
If I was in that hall I wouldn't be able to control my emotions. How is there that many dry eyes? Such a powerful and touching song. Really puts things into perspective.
Because not everyone is super emotional in life 🤣 They’re most probably just paying attention to the words and meditating on Jesus’ glory rather than being swept away by the performance.
