  • This is just a quick video that shows how to fix the heated/cooled seats on a Ford Epedition. There may be better ways to do this, but this seemed to work great for me and didn't cost me anything but time.

    Confirmed. Same problem with my 2017. Dealer quoted me over $400.00 to fix. I fixed for free using parts I already had. Maybe used $1 in parts. Thanks!!!!

    Any suggestions on how to prevent this would be appreciated - dielectric grease?

      Matt B Not sure if that would help, I think the problem is simply that the factory ground on a single pin isn’t hefty enough for the load. Probably best to address the issue before it shows it’s symptoms.

    Whats the gauge of the wire that you solded to the pin?

      Not sure what gauge I used, I just used what I had. As long as it’s close to the same as the original wire it should work fine

    Is that for both sides. I did that but but my driver side doesnt work.

    Worked great, thanks for the video. Instead of soldering I used a 0.187” female connector which connected well and cleared inside the plug after drilling out the exiting housing. This fix was Much better than going to the local Ford dealer for $92 + tax for the connector. Fixed both heating and cooling for both seats. Too bad Ford didn’t actually engineer a proper plug to handle the amperage thru this point.

    Does this affect both seats. Or is thier a module for each seat under each seat?

    • @schatts77
      @schatts77 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I looked at both sides and didnt see any terminals that looked burnt or over heated. But both my seats dont heat

      Jesse schattschneider The module under the passenger seat is for both front seats. If the heat and cool options on both seats don’t work, it’s likely the module. You have to unplug the connectors in order to see if things have been overheated.

      I did unplug all the connections and look for any discoloration. The cool seat still work but they will not work if the heat has been tried. It almost locks out the controls for the temperature adjustment for the seats when the heat is tried

      Jesse schattschneider Not sure, could still be a grounding issue. The heating option uses more power than the cooling option, which could explain why it doesn’t want to work after pressing the heat button. Can’t hurt to solder the new ground on and see if it makes a difference.

    What do I want to order to replace the module?

    • @XxkristofpopxX
      @XxkristofpopxX  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Paula Cross I wouldn’t replace the module unless you think it’s bad for some reason, follow my video and make the soldered connections to secure the ground wire and you should be good to go.

      @@XxkristofpopxX Thank you for the response... Our seats heated and cooled are not working on for about 2-3 seconds and cut off. I assume it is the module?

    • @XxkristofpopxX
      @XxkristofpopxX  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Paula Cross Sounds like the same issue, best way to know is to pull off the module and look at the plug to see if it’s burnt.
