      @@steviefpv The MT10 is just another Thunder Tiger rebrand from AE. Plastic chassis, vanilla electronics and boring looks. I'd pick a Traxxas Maxx over the MT10 and the Maxx was meh.

    I used to race an Associated RC10 when I was 14 yrs old. I'm 43 now. Lol my young son got me back into the hobby and after some nitro cars and trucks, I got tired of the mess and trouble. Picked this truck up recently and it is awesome. Right out of the box, this thing rips especially on 3S. I reduced the throttle servo output a bit for more control because it can get a little squirrelly at full throttle on 3S. It is smooth, quiet, and handles great. It looks absolutely fantastic and the lights look amazing especially at night. Looks like a real car with today's LED headlights and taillights. A little more plastic than I like, but so far has been very durable after some pretty gnarly crashes. Associated has been around for decades. If you like to bash then maybe go for something with bumpers and more metal parts, but this thing us great for street and dirt. It's definitely not all show though. $300 is a lot, but compared to other trucks and cars in this range, it's a decent deal. It is a short course truck, but range could be better.

    I would totally buy this. Only one complaint though, I would like to see some kind of rollcage or body bracing. It sounds too "hollow" while driving it. Other than that, it looks like a beast!

    The DVC is what makes it for me, I race it every weekend and beat brushless slash 4x4 every time on 3s, this thing is awesome, and that body makes no parachute effect at all, did the conversion to pro sc10 and went back with the trophy rat body, racing it is just awesome ! Only thing is the wheel bearing are weak and break easily ! I also cracked the antenna on my second run I think but doesn’t affect the driving at all, best setting for the dvc is 3 for me ! Good review rc network !

    After 20 years, I jumped back into RC fun. Upon seeing this truck, I was reminded of my first RC10T. Bought it and I am impressed with this truck. Being fairly rough on it, some parts broke, tail light, suspension arms, and bulk head so far. Parts are fairly accessible and a decent price.
    Your review on the driving side is spot on. The DVC and brushless motor is new to me, love them.

    Thanks for the video. Due to yours, among others, I ordered this truck. I just received it so haven’t had a chance to run it yet. I just completed reinforcing the body with a few layers of gorilla tape, and due to your video, I shoe gooed the rear lights in so that hopefully they’ll stay put. Still want to go through the truck to double check everything, but hope to run it this week at some point. Overall, just looking it over, I’m impressed with the design and quality. We shall see....

Had to spend alot of research to find them. The gears are the same as a team associate b5. Also none of my stickers are staying on the truck. They was coming off before I got it out of the box

    WOW, this is a cool looking truck. A big departure from the normal stuff you see all the time. I'm not into rat rods but I have to admit this is nice. Looks like one of those vehicles you see in a scary movie where the teenagers get lost and the crazy family is after them in the back woods. I think $300 is totally reasonable for anything Team Associated. I have had one of their vehicles before and it was built real nice, loved it. This is a must for my garage.

    I was pretty bummed that the old school SC10.2FT kit was discontinued! Also the SC10B, then this was introduced along with the DB10. So seeing the SC5M parts running on the SC10 Chassis, this is totally awesome, especially when you think about the rear motor is still alive with the release of these two rigs.

    I hope you test fitted 1.9 wheels before suggesting them.
    I love SCT's, I love the ease of use and the way they drive, But the parachuting sucks and the race bodies tend to be quite same-y. This solves both of those and kinda brings back the Short Course Buggy. I have a MT body on my Serpent SRX2 SC so I may be slightly bias but I love the idea and the car

    I would definitely say so! Brushless, 2.4ghz, gyro stability system, cvd's, big bore shocks, on/off road tires, scale body, led lights, etc. I have a T4 with this brushless system, and it is severely under geared from factory for short courses. Throw a smaller spur and bigger pinion in it and you'll be over 50mph for sure with 3s. Associated makes a smooth truck. Plus it's unique as hell! I'm considering one! 👌

    All in all it’s pretty impressive, however I wish these companies would please consider putting the actual max speed of these cars no matter what the classification is on the box or in the manual, (speed on an asphalt surface would be nice and also in MPH NOT THAT RUSSIAN COMMUNISM EQUATION OF KPH OR WHATEVER THEY USE) well that’s bout it for me great info and video! For $199.00, the Carisma M10DT Volkswagen Beetle comes with a lipo, and is the same layout and drivetrain. I have one in my stable of RCs. I’m going to pass on this one though. I seen it in person at a local RC show last weekend, and wow. The UDR is amazing. First Trophy Truck RC with 2 shocks per corner. All Metal Driveline, very beefy A-arms and rear solid axle. X-Maxx Diffs, center drive, and ESC, dual rear mounted fans on faux radiator for ESC Cooling, MOD-1 Gearing. With a 8S capable motor, 800kv or so, it will run 8S out of the box as is with a motor swap. Stock is a 2200KV motor capable of 6S and reps said it will do 53mph.
      I really like the E-Revo 2.0, really beefed it up like the UDR, with X-Maxx diffs and center drive, X-Maxx sized full metal drivelines, X-maxx ESC, X-Maxx style body mounting system, revised GTR Shocks, much beefier a-arms, thicker chassis, larger and improved chassis braces/shock mounts, thicker wing mount, larger bearings in hubs/axle carriers, revised transmission case, revised motor mount, Mod-1 Gearing and a few other things I can not remember.

      @TheRCNetwork  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, I can't agree more......unfortunately, there's a massive generation of "I want it now's" and it's funny to watch the forums/FB groups where people ask the simplest things like how to get a differential out, or remove a driveshaft. If they built the truck, they'd have first hand knowledge of that.

      @@TheRCNetwork "I want it now's" So true! The more I am relearning RC to see what I'm going to need and seeing how the most basic stuff seems to be hard to the next geners, just has my head scratching. Could not believe how everything was already built. It's not reallly that difficult to put one together, you don't really need very special tools, and what you learn is priceless. I taught myself when I was probably 12, started with a Tamiya Hornet and then built an RC10 from saving up and buying parts one piece at a time. All on my own and with no internet to help. RadioControlled car action magazine helped though! Just got in there and learned and ff I broke something, so be it. That's what spare parts are for right? Anyway, this is a great channel. Keep up what you're doing! I am eventually gonna end up with an RC again if I keep watching this.

      Yes, I do have a budget that I fund projects on my channel, but yes, I do receive products for review. Most of the time, they are given to the channel, in this instance, the Trophy Rat needed to be returned for an event they had scheduled.

    How is this an SC5(without the M)? It looks directly like the SC10 without the front and rear bumpers.

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It uses many of the same parts as the SC5, but with a rear motor. Front end is almost identical to an SC5M.

    Is it worth 300 bucks? The proof is in the pudding, so I'll find out soon... Mine will be here this coming Friday, so I'll have to determine what it's worth once I've had a chance to use it a bit. But, one of the things that appealed to me was the scale appearance, coupled with decent performance. As a backyard play rig I know that it doesn't offer the performance of many others. But then again, most of the ones that really perform have a rather cartoonish look to me. And most that look scale are more of a crawler type vehicle (yawn). I enjoy the scale look, but with something that is fun to drive at a faster pace than most reasonably priced scale RTRs offer. It seems that most reasonably fast rigs are some form of monster truck or buggy. And most that are scale are slow AF. The market of scale appearance combined with decent speed and performance is rather devoid of many options at the moment, it seems. So, I took a chance to see if this rig will satisfy my desires. After watching all of the TH-cam videos, I somehow have the feeling that I'll get my 300 bucks worth of enjoyment out of it... Now, a 4wd version, with front and rear bumpers for a little protection, might just make this a great backyard basher... But, as is, I think it'll be a lot of fun to own! Thanks for the video! It was one of a few that pushed me over the edge and talked me into trying the Trophy Rat.

    can someone recommend some wheels that have the bead lock design in different colors?

    • @mlp0139
      @mlp0139 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, can you link the wheels you used? Those look great. I prefer wheel/tire combo as I don’t want to glue them and all that but for those I’ll bust out the glue and do what I need to do.

    • @TheRCNetwork

      Yes on the aluminum, but mid motor on this car would not do well. Typically mid motor does well only on high traction surfaces like carpet and AstroTurf

    Perhaps, this finely painted body will be done after an hour of rough driving by noob like me. Then what? Plain vanilla SC5, equipped with so-so tires, very basic stabilization ($5-15 as separate add-on) and awful controller.
