I bought one with broken turbo’s, I tackled the job myself removing the engine and upon further inspection the 7th piston was burned so i bought another engine… just change the oil every 10.000kms and it will save you some money and headaches

A bit of a digression, but I have a 2011 MK 6 VW Diesel Golf with 500,000km I drive 1000km a week. It gets serviced every 10,000km, still going strong. 24.03.2024, just service regularly and as you say, it will save you money in the long run

Well...i have had lr322 tdv8 for 4 years now with no issues. The car has 276000 km on it and works perfect. The ride is classy, car is silent and it is almost impossible to get stuck in mud or snow. You just have to take care of this fine cars and they will last as long as any other cars.

YES it WILL go wrong and that’s a reality you must be prepared for.
If you can find a good mechanic who can look after the car it doesn’t need to cost a small fortune
I had to replace the transfer box, it cost £900 for a 2nd hand part all fitted.

It's a complex car. When bought used, people either don't service it properly all or at or use cheap Chinese parts that fail early. What do you expect if you do that ? No car is perfect, even Japanese ones. They have problems too. It's easy to be negative when you don't own one isn't it ? I have had various Land Rovers for 30 years. Nearly every fault, and there have not been many in 300,000 miles - 500,000km has been due to lack of servicing or incorrect parts.

I had a L322 tdv8, turbo failed within a week, 3k to have them replaced.
Month later the drivers side com cover needed replacing, ended up having both done, just under 2k.
Few months after that coming down the motorway timing chain failed needed almost 10k in repairs. Car got sold as spares or repairs.
Ever again will I buy Range Rover.

I’ve watched video after video and agree with the person who said nevermind. IMO, this vehicle is intentionally built with components scheduled to fail. Why! Because if it were reliable and affordable it would be more commonplace on the road. But keep the ownership costs high, and it’ll remain a wealthy man’s vehicle. It’s just an ole ploy, like expensive restaurants: too rich for the average guy. So clientele are the wealthy.

Easy fix to prevent 3.6 TDV8 turbo failures is an EGR delete -basically remove EGR valves and fit blanking plugs together with a software tweak to prevent engine limb mode & engine check light conditions - available cheaply on eb-y via cheap shadowed Ford software
this simple EGR delete Improves fuel consumption to a genuine regular 30-33 mpg @ 50 mph on long runs - turbo failure is known to be caused by the EGR valves sooting up and overpressuring the turbos - excess soot is probably due to running on cheap supermarket diesel 😬🤦‍♂️
If You can afford to run on expensive BP Optimax diesel it will probably overcome this scenario 🙃
These high mileage 3.6 TDV8 run noticeably better on BP Optimax eliminating smoke on cold start altogether & making them noticeable more responsive when towing hard 👍
My favourite 2007 3.6 TDV8 was regularly obtaining 36-39 mpg ( not when towing)
for over 20K + miles- I had tweaked her with EGR delete-CAT delete & straight thru s/s sports exhaust which achieved these genuine mid 30's mpg figures & it sounded awesome 🤠...
