You’re welcome! Enjoy your new camera! If there are any other things about it confusing to you, feel free to let me know and I’ll try to add it into a future video.
You’re welcome! I completely agree that this camera is a little tricky to get nailed down. Between the film sim dial and the lack of programmable controls, it’s been a bit of a learning curve. I’m planning to do a video sharing my exact settings/setup soon because I’m pretty happy with how I’ve got it set up.
Yes, that's actually one of the next videos I'm planning to make - my full review is likely coming out next, and then I'll be sharing how I have all of my custom function buttons mapped and what settings I use.
Destin, I do however have a question regarding the saving of the custom film simulation recipe. For unknown reasons, my 'SAVE THE CHANGES' option is not available for selection (11.02 - on the video timeline). This prevents the saving of the recipe. Would you have an idea why this is occurring? Thank you in advance.
I’ve never seen that happen before on any of my Fuji cameras. The only time I’ve ever seen that option grayed out is when no changes had been made and therefore there were none to save. I wish I had an answer for you.
Hey I am planning to get an Fuji X-m5 really soon... But I have a question in mind.. I have a tamron ef 70-300mm f/4 lens and a canon 50mm f 1.8 Can I use them on the x-m5 with adapter?
An annoying issue I can't seem to figure out is after you edit a custom name between C1- C4. It doesn't display the anywhere. Not even in the Q menu like in other Fuji Systems. There's no way to check the unless u go back to edit the name of the profile?!? Am I missing something within the menu or a display setting?
I've noticed the same. I really wish that the name would pop up on the Q menu or just on the LCD as you scroll between them. I'd bet this could be a firmware update if we can get their attention.
Hey sorry! Thought I’d responded already! The camera must be in movie mode on the mode dial. Then go to the movie settings menu -> movie settings list -> scroll to the bottom option for f-log/hog recording or to select a film simulation. I’m lazy and shoot all of my videos in Eterna.
@@adventureaheadphoto I got it. Thanks for your response. Can you make a tutorial video with slow shutter speed pictures with those film recipes? Recently, I've been very curious about slow shutter shots, and I bought this camera.
Hey there! I skipped it because I don't use the Q menu in relation to custom recipes at all on this camera. Because the custom settings banks are hardwired into a dial, there is no option that I'm aware of to switch between them using the Q menu like there was on my X100V. If you're talking about putting the various individual settings like highlight tone, clarity, etc there for easy access - I simply don't change them often enough for it to matter. I install custom recipes on the camera and run with them for a while, not tending to make changes on the fly. With the lack of dedicated external controls on this tiny camera, my Q menu is largely filled with more important (to me) settings like metering mode, self timer, white balance, AF modes/areas, face/subject detection, etc. I'm going to me making a video soon sharing my entire setup on the X-M5, and I'm certainly open to suggestions as I'm sure there are ways I could be doing things more efficiently.
This is so useful, just got my first Fujifilm camera and was confused on the custom recipes dials. thank you!

very useful, thanks sir!
You are welcome!
I've been looking into getting this camera. Very informative. I am grateful you spent the time to make and edit this video. Keep up the good work!
Thank you! Glad you found the video helpful!
Thank you for this! I’ve had many Fuji cameras but this one has been so much more complicated to set up

Hi Destin, great step-by-step guide on a topic I needed much help with. Much appreciated.
Glad I could help!
Great video, Sir! Very well explained.
Thank you for the kind words!
wonderful! such a helpful video. Will have a lot of fun with my new XM5. ... subscribed!
Thank you! It’s definitely a fun camera! Let me know if you have any questions I can try to answer in my next video(s).
good details and explanations, thank you. Might you go through your best set up for the whole camera, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

Thankyou for the video! i was wondering do you edit the higlight, shadow, color, etc too? how do you do it in xm5?
I only edit them in camera as I showed in the video - all of my editing after that is done in adobe lightroom on my laptop.
@ Thankyou mate

I believe so, but I’ve never played with adapting lenses to X mount. You’d have to see if you can find the right adapter, but I bet one exists.
@adventureaheadphoto
Thanks a lot 🤍

When did you order yours
I ordered mine on 10/15 and received it with the first wave of pre-orders.
@ I got my 11/11 so hope o get it soon
@@DavidFackrell1 hopefully they catch up quick! It’s a great camera!

Why I can't find F-log on XM5 🥴

@adventureaheadphoto Thanks man I found it 🙋
Makinam manuel seçiminde fakat exposure seçimine izin vermiyor 😢neden?
I’m not sure, I’m sorry :/
I have two questions ,
1. Can I create more than 4 film recipes?
2. Can I make videos with my custom-made film recipe?
The camera can only store up to 4 at a time, unfortunately. But you can absolutely make video with them.
