Thanks Randy. Penny & Jean may have been a subliminal purchase, as I had girlfriends by those names in the 1980's and 1990's with positive memories. I think that I forgot to mention the Hardin/York album title "Tomorrow, Today". They were both members of the Spencer Davis Group, with Eddie Hardin being post Steve Winwood in the group.
Chris, I love that you ''cherry-pick'' from all different music genres, everyone loves a drink with their listening experiences. However, at the many Grateful Dead concerts that I attended, I found time to mix in with ''The Wharf Rats'', a group of recovering drinkers and junkies, who were Deadheads too! I bought a Sonny Terry/ Brownie McGhee, Folkways album when I was a teen, it had the song, '' Drinkin Wine- Spo-de- Do ( mop- mop). I think the song was written by McGhee. I loved the Pere Ubu snippet. I attended the international, ''Terrastock #6'' music festival, here in R.I. Fursaxa was on the bill, I was highly impressed by her live set, the entire festival was quite memorable, Bridget St. John and Ghost ( the Japanese band) were the best. That Carla Bley Band with Elton Dean and Hugh Hopper and the other great players was one of her finest combos. The album was recorded in the studio despite the title. The only Wainwright song that I've heard is ''Dead Skunk'', I forget to explore his catalog.
Thanks Michael. Terrastock sounds cool. I have read an issue or two of the Ptolemaic Terrascope. I noticed that Bandcamp has a Terrastock #6 compilation CD with a Fursaxa track on it "Water Moon", which sounds really good.
hey Chris - I almost chose that Pere Ubu track, but I looked up the lyrics and wasn't sure what to make if them. This is a delightful collection of things that I am almost entirely unfamiliar with! You should win a prize for this 🙂
I just had to go by the title, because I couldn't understand the lyrics. When I look up the lyrics, I don't see any reference to drinking unless it is unstated that is what he is doing while contemplating the girl. Thanks Brian.
Okay I have that Pere Ubu album. No doubt they did write that song all by themselves. Not the easiest listen haha. Nice job digging out some very obscure albums Chris. The stuff you have in your collection is always amazing

Thanks Steve. I did check the Jerry Lee Lewis song, but it is spelled differently and the printed lyrics are not the same.
Pere Ubu is enough to drive anyone to drinking.
